Delightful regency romance
Enjoyable movie whose plot makes a nod to Pride and Prejudice without crossing in 'retelling' territory. The characters were all interesting and well portrayed, with engaging performances from all actors, the two main couples had good chemistry and great romantic tension, the story made for decent drama with a touch of comedy.
The storyline was maybe a bit predictable in the beginning, but it never bored me and the second half was pleasantly fresh, and it built up to a very cathartic ending.
The blind casting threw me a little at first but it did not take me out of the story. Scenery, soundtrack and costumes were quite pretty and in line with the regency atmosphere. In the end this movie made for an uplifting hour of entertainment, which is what I expect from romantic movie. I appreciate the attempt to 'redeem' the secondary female character... her story was given decent depth, which is not always a given in this type of movie.

ridiculous movie
I guess it is in fashion too make a "racially correct" version of a costume movie.
Maybe could be even funny but to make it so plain and foreseeable, it really becomes an insult to any intelligent picture of creating characters. How can people be so onedimensional?
How can getting married become such an obsession.
I guess it was different in those days, but still, even fast forwarding feels like a waste of time.
Of course some nice costumes, some pretty actors and actresses, but who wants to see that?
I really do not understand, the only thing i could imagine is to see a world which is so simple and unreal to escape ones life - maybe that is why i fast watched it.
