Stars: Lonnie Chavis, Ezra Dewey, Micah Hauptman, Kristin Bauer van Straten | Written and Directed by David Charbonier, Justin Powell
Although The Djinn beat it to release in the US by a few months, The Boy Behind the Door is writer/director David Charbonier and Justin Powell’s first feature. Unlike that film, this has a plot rooted in the all too real horrors of child abductions and human trafficking. And it’s all the more shocking and disturbing for it.
The film opens with Bobby and Kevin (Ezra Dewey; The Djinn) in the trunk of a car. A brief flashback shows their violent abduction from a park. Back in the present Kevin is taken from the trunk by the unseen and unnamed Creep. Left alone Bobby manages to escape the car’s trunk, only to find himself in the middle of nowhere.
Before he can make an escape he hears Kevin screaming inside the house.

Because February is mercilessly short March will be here before you know it. No time like the present to bone up on what's coming to Horror Channel next month. Horror Channel will host what it's calling Killer Thriller Week staring on the third weekend of the month with back to back nights of premieres of Paradise Cove and Jon Watts' excellent feature film debut, Cop Car. That near little movie starring Kevin Bacon, before he all up and exploded onto the superhero scene, making Sony and Marvel a gazillion dollars. Other previous standouts include Await Further Instructions, A Good Woman is Hard to Find and horror comedy Cooties. Everything you need to know about the month of March on Horror Channel follows below. ...

You can’t fault the writing-directing duo of David Charbonier and Justin Powell for reckless overreaching: Their first feature, “The Djinn”, stirred terror around just one boy in an apartment. Their second, which premiered at Fantastic Fest last fall, cautiously ups the ante to two boys and one whole house. “The Boy Behind the Door” is a more polished affair than its predecessor, with no supernatural aspect to the child endangerment this time. But . Shudder is adding the film to its streaming service July 29.
After a brief, alarming prologue, we properly meet our protagonists in a moment of calm beforehand — two 12-year-old lads playing catch in a field en route to a Little League game. When their ball rolls down an embankment, Kevin goes to retrieve it but does not return. Bobby (Lonnie Chavis from “This Is Us”) eventually goes looking for him, which doesn’t end well for him either.

Exclusive: Rome Flynn (How to Get Away With Murder), Isis King (When They See Us), Todd Grinnell (One Day At A Time) and Desmond Chiam (The Falcon & the Winter Soldier) are set as series regulars opposite Emeraude Tobia and Mark Indelicato in With Love, Amazon’s one-hour romantic comedy series from Gloria Calderón Kellett and her GloNation Studios and Amazon Studios.
Created and written by Calderón Kellett, With Love follows the Diaz siblings, Lily (Toubia) and Jorge (Indelicato), who are on a mission to find love and purpose. The Diaz siblings cross paths with seemingly unrelated residents during some of the most heightened days of the year — the holidays.
Flynn will play Santiago Zayas, a modern Afro-Cuban American Mr. Darcy. Well educated and prefers books to TV. A man of few words, but lots of heart for the right person.
King will portray Sol Perez, Lily and Jorge’s cousin on their mom’s side.

A throwback to all the B-grade knockoffs that followed such hit late ’80s/early ’90s household thrillers as “The Stepfather,” “Pacific Heights,” and “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle,” “Paradise Cove” will be nobody’s idea of an original movie, let alone a good one. Still, it provides a degree of schlock entertainment value, as a young couple discover their Malibu fixer-upper comes with a crazy homeless woman squatting on the premises, itching to turn homicidal … again. Low on suspense and plausibility but high on tasteless and absurd ideas, Martin Guigui’s film does offer undiscriminating viewers some fun, albeit more of a laughing-at than laughing-with variety.

Grimmfest have today announced the launch of their Grimmfest Easter Edition, a new annual event taking place over the Easter Weekend, and complimenting the long-established festival in October.
Easter is traditionally a time for rebirth, renewal, resurrection. But as the Pandemic continues to rage, and the world remains on lockdown for the foreseeable future, it is also a time for rethinking. Thus, while the Grimmfest team had hoped to be hosting a ‘live’ Easter event, instead, the Grimmfest Easter Edition will be taking place online, and will build on the success of Grimmfest 2020 online experience.
The festival will open on Thursday April 1st with our preview night that will feature the UK premiere of Kourosh Ahari’s surreal and sulphurous Iranian American haunted hotel horror The Night, which has already earned deserved comparisons to Kubrick’s The Shining, alongside the UK premiere of Lluis Danes’ visually ravishing reimagining of the...

"What's the wife of a big Hollywood producer doing livin' under a house?" Quiver has unveiled an official US trailer for an indie psychological thriller titled Paradise Cove, the latest film made by the musician / filmmaker Martin Guigui. How's this for a crazy concept? A contractor and his wife move to Malibu to flip his mother's beach house and are terrorized by the deranged homeless lady living under the house. Watch out for the unhinged squatter! The film is described as a "super fun throwback thriller" that seems to be riffing on a lot of the dumb 90s suspense films. Mena Suvari stars with Todd Grinnell, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Eddie Goines, Krista Allen, Horacio Galaviz, and Eddie Rivera. This looks a bit too wild and kooky, not in a good way. But you never know...? Here's the official US trailer (+ poster) for Martin Guigui's Paradise Cove, direct from YouTube: This February,...
