"Why do you live like this? The windows, the lights, the traps..." Signature Entertainment from the UK has unveiled a new UK trailer for an indie living-in-seclusion horror-thriller titled Rose: A Love Story, which initially premiered at last year's London Film Festival. The film, which also goes under the simple title Rose, marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Jennifer Sheridan. Gripped by a violent, terrifying illness, Rose lives in seclusion with her husband, but the arrival of a stranger shatters the fragile refuge they have built. The film stars Sophie Rundle as Rose, along with Matt Stokoe, Nathan McMullen, and Olive Gray. This seems very eerie and mysterious, and I'm intrigued to find out more about what's going on with them in the woods. Have a look. Here's the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Jennifer Sheridan's Rose: A Love Story, from Digital Spy: Rundle stars as the eponymous Rose...

Making what is by far the most reassuring news about our future to arrive in the past week, Abel Ferrara has cast Ethan Hawke in Zeros and Ones, a war picture generated from Ferrara’s own script. Per Variety, it concerns “an American soldier stationed in Rome as it’s under siege, with the Vatican blown up [who] embarks on a hero’s journey to uncover and defend against an unknown enemy threatening the entire world.” Ferrara’s wife, Cristina Chiriac (who recently put in great work in both Tommaso and Siberia), co-stars with Phil Neilson.
In a distinctly Ferrara-esque statement, the filmmaker said “Zeros and Ones is a film of lockdown and war, danger and espionage, American soldiers, Chinese middlemen, Mid Eastern holy men, provocateurs, diplomats, rogue elements of the CIA and Kgb. I cannot wait to roll the cameras next week in a way that is safe because this...

The Danish writer-director’s new feature is set in 1997 and follows a group of tourists travelling by bus from the northern provincial part of Denmark to Paris. Denmark’s Niels Arden Oplev is now working on his next feature, entitled Rose. The Oue-born director’s new endeavour follows in the wake of Daniel, a drama recalling the experiences of Daniel Rye, who was held hostage by Isis terrorists for 13 months and released last year. The shooting of Rose has started on the mainland of Jutland and will later include a short detour to Paris. The script, penned by the helmer himself and described as “a film about caring for each other despite our differences”, is set over the course of a week in the autumn of 1997 and follows a group of tourists travelling by bus from the northern provincial part of Denmark to the city of cities, Paris. Ever dream of escaping to your own personal island? Netflix's Italian comedy feature Rose Island tells the story of Giorgio Rosa, who set off to create his own nation that was separate from Italy. Rosa's endeavor may have been the talk of Europe decades ago, but the bizarre tale has fallen through the cracks as time has gone by - here's what you need to know about his misadventures.
Born in 1925 in Bologna, Rosa was an Italian engineer. He created the short-lived Rose Island in 1967, designing and financing the construction of a 400-meters-squared platform that was suspended above the Mediterranean with slender pilotis (think support columns). He started with empty pillars, then inserted steel tubes in the pillars, and pushed them into the sea floor, filling them with cement to avoid corrosion.
Rose Island was about 12 kilometers away from the shores of Rimini, just outside of Italy's territorial waters.

Disappointed “Star Wars” fans have expressed their upset over the lack of screen time for actress Kelly Marie Tran in the latest “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” with the online campaign #RoseTicoDeservedBetter. “Crazy Rich Asians” and “In the Heights” director Jon M. Chu shares their disappointment, but he has a plan…
After being introduced in Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” fans expected the character Rose Tico (played by Tran) to reappear yet again in JJ Abrams’ “Rise of the Skywalker.” Or at the very least, have the characters address the powerful kiss she planted on John Boyega’s Finn in her final moments on screen. But alas, Rose was relegated to side scenes of exposition explaining why she couldn’t possibly join in on the current mission along with a few climax battle bits.

It seems “Star Wars” fans are not happy with the direction of Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” and they’re calling for Disney, with its billions of dollars and sparkly new Disney+ streaming service, to give the character more screen time.
We’ve come to accept that the “Star Wars” community will always find something to debate, complain about, or criticize, but in the case of Rose Tico’s presence in the latest and final film (so they say) in the Skywalker saga, maybe they have a point?
“Crazy Rich Asians” director Jon M. Chu, who is also helming the upcoming movie musical “In the Heights,” tweeted directly at the Disney+ and “Star Wars” accounts and calling on them to give Rose Tico her own series.

In the lead-up to the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, director J.J. Abrams offered repeated hints that his film was going to serve as a “course correction” of sorts in the wake of 2017’s divisive The Last Jedi, and sure enough, once the Skywalker Saga finale reached theaters, the movie was every bit as apologetic as fans either dreaded or hoped.
We can see Abrams’ attempts to reach out to the detractors in the way his flick essentially undoes one of the boldest twists of The Last Jedi. But more controversial still is how the new movie reduces Rose Tico to a minor supporting player after her major role in the previous film.
After the release of The Last Jedi, actress Kelly Marie Tran was subject to vicious online abuse, ultimately prompting the star to seek therapy and leave social media with no intention of returning. With this backlash in mind,...

With The Witch, Hereditary, and more, A24 has been in the business of giving emerging directors a platform to terrify audiences with a visually distinct style. Jesse Plemons is set to co-star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Kirsten Dunst in Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog.”
Plemons is replacing Paul Dano, who was forced to drop out of the movie due to scheduling conflicts with “The Batman,” for which Dano was recently tapped to play the Riddler. Sources say Netflix and Dano’s team tried to work it out but in the end, the scheduling issues were too difficult to overcome.
Netflix acquired the pic this summer from See-Saw Films’ in-house sales arm, Cross City Films. Variety first reported on the project in May and Cross City Films launched sales at the Cannes Film Festival.
Netflix will release the movie in 2021 on the streaming platform and in theaters. Transmission Films will be releasing it theatrically in Australia and New Zealand. The deal excludes United Kingdom TV rights, which are retained by BBC Films.

“Eat well, stay young, live long.” This is the motto that Doctor Sleep’s villain, Rose the Hat, lives by. It’s a motto that we all apply to ourselves, whether we speak it aloud or not. This is especially true for women, as staying young is a goal we all strive towards because god forbid we age. And, really, we’re not allowed to. We have to be Rose the Hat forever, and in a way, we want to be.
The latest Stephen King adaptation introduces the True Knot, a band of cult-like vampires who torture and kill children to feast on their “steam”—their psychic powers. As their leader, Rose does most of the torture and killing herself. She uses her natural, maternal air to trap her prey for a slow and painful death. She’s a villain of the highest degree, and one of the most frightening...

The bizarre odyssey of how Oscar-winning actress Mary Steenburgen came to co-write the euphoric power-ballad that Jessie Buckley performs at the end of “Wild Rose” — easily the year’s best original movie song — began 10 years ago, when the “Melvin and Howard” star woke up after a minor arm surgery feeling like her mind was on fire.
“I felt strange as soon as the anesthesia started to wear off,” Steenburgen said. “The best way I can describe it is that it just felt like my brain was only music, and that everything anybody said to me became musical. All of my thoughts became musical. Every street sign became musical. I couldn’t get my mind into any other mode.”
Fun as that might sound in an Oliver Sacks kind of way — the late neurologist wrote about similar, potentially stroke-inspired symptoms in his book “Musicophilia” — Steenburgen wasn’t thrilled about the sudden mental shift.

Titans season 2 employs a time jump for a second episode that feels more like a season premiere.

This Titans review contains spoilers.
Titans Season 2 Episode 2
Picking up three months after “Trigon,” the second episode of Titans Season 2, “Rose,” is a tight story that sets up new mysteries, and introduces fresh threats – making it feel more like a premiere than last week’s installment.
Straightaway, it’s worth mentioning how the action has benefited by jumping forward a few months. The team is in training, and while there remains tension, cohesion is setting in. Teagan Croft appears more settled as Rachel, and as a result, the character is more likable – even though we do see the darkness that continues to haunt her. Ryan Potter’s Gar and Curran Walters’ Jason work as squabbling teammates, and their sparring scene is fun, even if Gar is the weaker link at the moment.

Just when I thought superhero TV couldn’t get as equal to or any cooler than what the Arrowverse has planned for the next year, Titans‘ second season premiere effortlessly knocked off my socks. Long story short, the threat that was Trigon is now in the rear-view mirror and Deathstroke has emerged to take his place as the big bad. Oh yeah, Bruce Wayne is hanging around, too, and you can’t argue with that.
As the show moves forward, all we can do is sit back and enjoy as the producers behind it further open a treasure trove loaded with beloved DC characters.
