Two things are certain. The My Hero Academia manga and anime successfully adapted the superhero formula from Western comics and created a truly brilliant Japanese superhero work. In the West, The Boys comic book and series successfully inverted the superhero genre and created a brilliant series that showed us the dark side of superheroism. Now, it seems that we have also gotten an anime answer to The Boys, as the Go! Go! Loser Ranger! anime is slowly becoming a hit of the Spring 2024 anime season.

In a surprising turn of events, Oshi No Ko manga illustrator Mengo Yokoyari found herself at the centre of a social media storm after attending the “Maaya Sakamoto Live Tour 2023” concert with voice actress Ayane Sakura.
Ayane Sakura is known for voicing Gabi Braun in Aot, Ochako Uraraka in Mha, Yotsuba Nakano in The Quintessential Quintuplets, among others.
The illustrator shared a snapshot from the recent concert on her Twitter account, expressing her excitement about the experience. However, little did she anticipate the intense reactions from some fans who assumed it was more than a casual outing between friends.
The situation escalated quickly, especially among those who perceived Ayane Sakura as an ‘idol.’ The attachment of perceived ‘idol rules’ and the assumption of a romantic connection between the voice actress and the artist led to some obsessive fans expressing disappointment and frustration.
This reached a point where Yokoyari felt compelled to address the misunderstanding.

There’s more plot and less whimsy than you might expect from a movie called “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond,” an underwhelming spinoff of the popular anime series adaptation of Fuse and Mitz Vah’s illustrated young-adult “light novel” series. This movie still resembles its source material, given its pile-on of high-fantasy characters and backstories.
Your mileage may vary depending on how much you like watching various ogres, orcs, and other magical creatures cast spells and breathlessly explain their supernatural powers’ range and limits.
Then again, “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bond” lacks the light touch and anything-goes humor that usually make the series’s plot seem so fleet and dynamic. This movie doesn’t even focus that much on series lead Rimuru Tempest (voiced by Miho Okasaki), a sentient water-molecule-shaped slime who, in a former life, was a human named Satoru Mikami,...

“Spoiler Alert” (Universal), based on Michael Ausiello’s poignant memoir, debuted in six theaters and provided a spark for the specialized market. It took in 85,000 — at the higher end for this season. That’s enough to justify the brief platform before it expands to a multi-hundred theater run this Friday.

The post-Thanksgiving weekend box office is typically weak, primarily made up of declining holdovers from the holiday frame. This weekend is no exception, but the decline is from a much smaller base than usual, with the 93.8 million Thanksgiving three-day and 134 million five-day weekend numbers being even worse than last year’s and the worst in decades by pre-pandemic standards. The year looks to end on a relatively high note, with just two weeks left until Avatar: The Way of Water is unleashed, but until then it will be a quiet fortnight at the box office.
Once again, this weekend will belong to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. That the film will top the box office for the fourth time (and likely the fifth time next weekend) may say more about the lack of serious competition in the marketplace than about the film’s performance, but its box office numbers are undeniably strong.
