This was the final episode for Brian Tarantina (Jackie), who passed away a month before the season premiered.
When Midge goes to see Moishe at his factory the scene of her walking down the street mirrors the scene when Joel went to see his dad in season one to tell him he and Midge were splitting up. The same song plays in both scenes as well.
The episode won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour).
This episode recreates a strip of 45th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue in the year 1960, encompassing the facade of the Imperial Theatre, where David Merrick's "Destry Rides Again" is tenanted. While the black-and-white artwork for this show is a crude, anachronistic mock-up that bears no resemblance to the original, the billboards for "Do-Re-Mi," "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" and "An Evening with Mike Nichols and Elaine May" are vintage reproductions.
In the scene at the beginning of the episode, Midge and Joel are at the City Spoon, and the radio station playing in the background is 1010 WINS. New Yorkers know 1010 WINS as an all-news radio station, but until 1965, it was a music station, and one of the first in the country to play rock n' roll.
