The violent acts of the Red Army Faction (RAF) caused at least 30 deaths from the late 1960s until its dissolution in 1998. What's more, they pushed the constitutional state of the Federal Republic of Germany to its limits. The documentary by Phoenix authors Michael Krons and Eva Wormit deals with the unanswered questions that still exist after decades about the crimes and perpetrators. They interviewed new witnesses and researched footage that had not been shown before. After introductions by the well-known ZDF historian Guido Knopp, the cases of Rohwedder, Schleyer, Buback and the hijacking of the Lufthansa plane "Landshut" are discussed. There are also new findings on the cooperation between the RAF and the GDR's state security agency (Stasi).
