- Beginning of the journey in Brussels on the Grande-Place: Jérôme meets there Olivier Senny, a cartoonist who tells him that there is a ritual for the people who arrive in Bruxelles: they go to the monument of Everard T'Serclaes (who drove the Flemings from the city): the statue brings luck and grants the wishes of all who touch it, usually rubbing his arm.Then in a street they see a large wall painting of Tintin and Milou and later another wall painting showing two young men walking over a river (drawing of the cartoonist Frank Pé from the comic book "Brousaille").Then Olivier and Jérôme eat Brussels waffles : Olivier is beginning a portrait of Jérôme and they return to the Grande-Place.They visit the belfry of the Town Hall and enjoy the sight over the center of Brussels.On the next day Jérôme goes to the Atomium where he meets Henri Simons, the director of the Atomium who speak about the exhibition of the paintings of Magritte and the story of the Atomium.Later Jérôme goes to the neighborhood of Saint-Gilles where he meets Albert the Mustache who produce and sells French fries: then they meet the members of the "Club de la Moustache" in a restaurant: the members don't take themselves seriously: they enjoy to be together and are very proud of their town.They sing and drink a beer with Jérôme.In the Galeries Royales de St-Hubert Jérôme meets Véroniqiue Toefaert, a cook who organizes guest tables: they meet Laurant Gerbaud, the chocolatier and taste chocolate and have a walk (statue of Jacques Brel) and arrive at the National Library: on a terrace they visit roof garden (spíces and medicinal herbs and in the night Véronique receives in her apartment her guests and they have a supper of fresh vegetables and fruits.On the next day Jérôme is in the flea market of the Marolles (which is open during all the week) , he meets Nicolas Geal, the director of the Royal Theater of Toone, they speak about puppets and then go to the theater : the puppeteers make a little spectacle (Nicolas, who is comedian plays the voices of the puppets).Later Jérôme meets the official dresser of the Manneken Pis (Nicolas Edelman) who tells him the story of the statue, they go to the Museum of the Wardrobe of the Manneken Pis (there are about 130 changes of dresses every year),Then Jérôme goes to the Belgium Radio and Television and meets there Nic and Flup, who have a program about the Brussels dialect.Then Jérômeand Flup (Philippe Baudot have a walk through a great park and the main cemetery of Bruxelles.Later Jérôme meets Marjorie Elich (La bière des femmes) and other women who invite Jérôme to taste beers.Jérôme returns to the Manneken Pis, there a ceremony for a new dress, brass brand and songs and Olivier Senny gives Jérôme a nice drawing. Besides we see zooms about the Grande-Place (the fire in 1695, the restoration, Youssef Ziaeian, the painter, the marriages in the town hall), about the "bourgmestre de l'Ilôt-Sacré" , the guild of the butchers, the guild of the crossbows , about the celebration of the arrival of Charles-Quint in Brussels (Ommegang) , about the paintings in the Brussels metro, about the train-hotel of Nicolas Kervyn, about the tramway-restaurant, about the new businesses in Brussels (t-shirts, chocolaterie, enamels), about the foreigners living in Brussels (the French Catherine Minala or the civil servants of Europen Union). about the arboretum of Tenbosch and the lake and marsh zone with its migratory birds.—zutterjp48
