You'll Enjoy Watching The Fascinating World Of Squirrels
StrictlyConfidential20 June 2020
If you like squirrels, then, you are sure to like this often-engaging wildlife documentary that showcases these curios and active little creatures who are one of the most agile animals in the whole world.

This informative and educational presentation from the PBS Network features lots of excellent photography as it invites the viewer to take a close-up look at the different habitat, survival tactics, and arch-enemies of squirrels from various locations around the planet.

Believe me - When you see the footage of flying squirrels taking to the air (as they effortlessly glide from tree to tree) you will surely be both delighted and amazed by their awesome abilities.

Rather Fascinating

I was able to obtain a DVD copy of this rather fascinating documentary, running about 53 mins., at my local library. It's part of the PBS Nature series, directed by Tom Jarvis, and is enhanced by the narration of Ana Gasteyer.

The film focuses on why the nearly 300 species of squirrels, located in almost every continent, have been such a success story over time. Their rather amazing agility, adaptability, and smarts are on full display here.

One of the highlights of the doc is watching a few days old orphan Eurasian red squirrel (which are threatened) being lovingly raised by Sheelagh McAllister, the head of small mammals at the National Wildlife Rescue Center of Scotland. The young red squirrel, named Billy, is given constant care till he's able, along with another squirrel, to be released into the woodlands.

Overall, this is certainly a family friendly film, which is quite educational as well. Subtitles are available but they're somewhat small.
