- Rowan Quinn: I'm sorry. The way I treated you wasn't right.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: It worked. You made me into the undercover agent I am.
- Rowan Quinn: It's not true. You had it in you. Way before I came along. And I would hate to think what the Bureau would be if you'd have quit.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: I wanted to. I almost did. And then I decided I wasn't gonna give you the satisfaction.
- Rowan Quinn: Glad you're a stronger man than the one who was teaching you. Would you consider letting some other people know that it is possible to get from there to where you sit?
- MI5 Agent Dunne: Where are you off to after assignment?
- MI5 Agent Simon: Jennings says Istanbul.
- MI5 Agent Dunne: Oh, been before?
- MI5 Agent Simon: No.
- MI5 Agent Dunne: Chalmers, the ambassador, he's a bit straight-laced. But he knows where his bread is buttered. His wife, actually...
- [a car approaches]
- MI5 Agent Dunne: Oh, here we go.
- MI5 Agent Simon: Don't ask me to shake his hand. I might vomit.
- MI5 Agent Dunne: All we have to do is bear witness he stepped on that plane and the door closed behind him. Then he's America's problem.
- MI5 Agent Simon: I don't know how the FBI did it.
- MI5 Agent Dunne: What's that?
- MI5 Agent Simon: Flipped Otan Reis.
- MI5 Agent Dunne: Like I said, America's problem. Ours is not to question why.
- Special Agent Maggie Bell: Hey. Why didn't you answer your phone?
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: There's no service down here.
- Special Agent Maggie Bell: Then go to the gym like a normal person.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: There's too many people looking at themselves in the mirror.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: What's up?
- Special Agent Maggie Bell: I don't know. Jubal didn't say. He just said to collect you and get to the JOC. Come on. We're already late.
- Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine: Jilian Starls, Agents Bell and Zidan. Jill runs Special Investigations Unit 2. So, SIU has an ongoing undercover operation they think we're uniquely suited to assist.
- Jillian Starls: The target is one of the biggest arms dealers in the world, Martin Vickers.
- Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine: Yeah, he's been around for a while. Didn't Comey give him a nickname?
- Jillian Starls: The Merchant of Venom.
- Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine: That's right.
- Jillian Starls: And we might finally be able to catch him in the act.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: How'd you tie him to Vickers?
- Jillian Starls: An established black market broker, Otan Reis. Fronts buys for 20% of the world's war criminals, and we flipped him.
- Special Agent Maggie Bell: Who managed that?
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: What's up with Otan Reis?
- Rowan Quinn: Like most intructors, I split my classroom time with field time. Last fourteen months, I've been on this guy. I stung him, flipped him, recruited him to help take down Martin Vickers. Yesterday he was about to board a private plane from Blackbushe to Teterboro.
- Special Agent Maggie Bell: Was?
- Rowan Quinn: Assassinated on the tarmac.
- Jillian Starls: Which should have been the end of the mission.
- Rowan Quinn: [glancing at OA] Except... except Reis' height, weight, and ethnicity match exactly one agent in the Bureau.
- Dana Mosier: Absolutely not. I'm not dropping my agent into the tail end of a fourteen-month operation with only 24 hours prep time.
- Rowan Quinn: Look, I don't like it, either. Goes against everything I teach.
- Dana Mosier: Glad we agree.
- Rowan Quinn: And if Reis were still alive, I wouldn't be here. But he's not. These are the cards we've been dealt. I feel lucky, actually. Reis was educated here. Spoke perfect English. He was meticulous, avoided photographs, not very many people in the world have seen him in person, and this is the first deal he ever brokered for Vickers. OA is a physical match. It's risky, but every time you go undercover it's risky. You know that.
- Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine: [Dana glances at him] You know what I'm gonna say. Let's roll the dice.
- Dana Mosier: Willing to bet OA's life on that?
- Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine: I'm willing to bet OA can rise to the challenge.
- Rowan Quinn: I trained him, Dana. My professional assessment as his instructor is... he can pull this off.
- Dana Mosier: What if word gets out that the real Reis is dead?
- Rowan Quinn: MI5 seeded chatter that the assassination attempt failed.
- Dana Mosier: And?
- Rowan Quinn: Confirmed reports as far away as Moscow. The story took. The world thinks Otan Reis survived.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: Ma'am, before you make up your mind, I would respectfully like to add my voice. Martin Vickers supplied the weapons that financed the Baga Massacre in 2015. If there is any chance I can help bring him down, you have to let me take it.
- Rowan Quinn: Before you answer, let me tell you what Vickers is selling.
- [cut to the bullpen]
- Rowan Quinn: Javelin laser-guided, shoulder-fired, anti-tank missiles. 50 of 'em. Aim, target, fire. It'll destroy a tank, plane, helicopter, anything else it locks onto, out to a range of 1 1/2 miles. One missile can take out an airliner approaching JFK. Hundreds of civilians gone in the blink of an eye. The Javeling has a 95% kill rate and has surpassed the Stinger as *the* most sought-after weapon on the black market.
- Rowan Quinn: Now, as a rule, Martin Vickers doesn't care who he sells to, as long as it's the highest bidder. Hard work is done. I negotiated the price, arranged the meet. All we need is for you to be our Reis and accept delivery. We'll take down Vickers, reclaim the missiles.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: This is why I joined the Bureau, ma'am.
- Dana Mosier: I've already made up my mind. Whatever you need, Rowan.
- Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine: All right, well, the DOJ guidelines say the UC gets to pick the contact agent who will be responsible for for his safety while undercover.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: You in?
- Special Agent Maggie Bell: Of course.
- Dana Mosier: Then let's get to work. We've got 24 hours to close this deal.
- Rowan Quinn: All right, remember, don't try and think like a bad guy. Be the bad guy and think.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: Right.
- Rowan Quinn: No hesitation. Project confidence. Keep eye contact. Act like you've done this a thousand times before.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: Is this yammering calming your nerves? Because I'm good.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: Why'd you single me out? You know exactly what you did. I never understood why. You treated every other student like they were born for the Bureau but me? Why'd you decide I was unworthy? You didn't even know me, man.
- Rowan Quinn: I picked out one rookie. Every class. Threw everything I had at him, see if he'd break. Not because I thought he was unworthy. 'Cause I thought he had the most potential. Your class, that was you.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: Don't give me that.
- Rowan Quinn: I'm not saying it was right. It's just the way I was taught. Well, I guess I brought that home from the classroom. Did it with my son, too. Look how that turned out.
- Dana Mosier: We have an ID on the London assassination.
- Jennifer Hilton: Thanks to your Dallas field office.
- Dana Mosier: We were up on a bunch of burner phones bought by Los Zetas.
- Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine: Mexican cartel?
- Dana Mosier: Mm-hmm. Four minutes before Otan Reis was hit on the tarmac, one of those numbers showed up inbound on a South London cell tower.
- Jennifer Hilton: Right next to Blackbushe Airport. MI5 couldn't identify the assassin, but we know who was calling him, greenlighting the hit.
- Dana Mosier: Los Zetas are the competitor.
- Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine: The possibility of Zetas armed with Javelins is horrifying. Border Patrol would be sitting ducks. They could light up every crossing between El Paso and San Diego.
- Dana Mosier: I just hung up with the director, who called to congratulate everyone on a job well done.
- [applause]
- Dana Mosier: And OA, he said the world is a lot safer today because of your efforts.
- [cheers and more applause]
- Dana Mosier: Okay, everybody go home. Get out of here. If I see you in the next 72 hours, I'm gonna have you arrested.
- Special Agent Maggie Bell: Starls said SIU is buying if we wanna head over to McSorley's.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: I gotta take a rain check.
- Special Agent Maggie Bell: What? Are you sure? It's not every day that we have carte blanche on a federal credit card.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: Are you gonna walk again?
- Rowan Quinn: [snickers] Uh, they tell me I'll be running a marathon come spring.
- Special Agent Omar Adom 'OA' Zidan: I bet.
