It's lovely that there will be another season, but had the series not been renewed, the finale would have been satisfying, as a standalone one season series. Many of the characters, such as the police chief, Laurits, Erik, etc who had begun to feel like total disappointments, almost as traitorous and useless as the snack-loving mother, found redemption - in a fairly epic and unexpected way - brilliant. As the season progressed, it seemed as though the would-be grocery clerk and Magne were the only decent folk left after the loss of Isolde, with the possible exception of Grie, but indeed, Magne, seemingly having lost everything, has somehow inspired many of the townspeople to finally stand up for righteousness, for justice, for the environment, for their town. The Norse mythology aspects are not center-stage for the most part; the allegory is allowed to stand out, with the local mythological symbology emphasizing its importance, up until the final moments. Beautifully done.
If there is a Season Two, let's hope the mother gets committed, learns to be a better person and more loyal mother, and becomes worthy of Erik, who is now the guardian of her two sons.
