- Quotes
[Boimler is having to climb through service crawlways to get to the bridge. He has a Voyager commemorative plate that he wants the visiting Lt. Tom Paris to sign]
Ensign Brad Boimler: [grunt] Ha! Nobody knows the Cerritos like Bradward Boimler.
[a service doorway shuts in front of Boimler]
Ensign Brad Boimler: [yelp] Fine. You want to play it that way, Cerritos? I know another way. Because I know you, like you should know me!
[another service doorway shuts behind Boimer]
Ensign Brad Boimler: [yelp]
Computer: Access denied.
Ensign Brad Boimler: Oh, no, no, no. This can't be happening. First I get kicked off the Titan. Then the Cerritos doesn't even know me anymore? Where do I belong?
[cries]
Ensign Brad Boimler: Aw...
Lt. Tom Paris Commemorative Plate: [blinks twice, then speaks] Come on, Brad. This is your home. You're right where you belong.
Ensign Brad Boimler: Then why am I gonna die in a Jefferies tube?
Lt. Tom Paris Commemorative Plate: [chuckle] You're not. You are Brad Boimler. And you've been in tougher spots than this. Now open up a panel and start figuring out a solution.
Ensign Brad Boimler: [sniff] You're right. Thanks, Tom Paris.
[Boimler sets the plate upright against the wall, then opens a computer panel and starts working]
Lt. Tom Paris Commemorative Plate: I am a little worried about the fumes in here though. You know, since you're talking to a plate.
Ensign Brad Boimler: I don't know. I kinda like 'em.
[giggle]

My second problem is that everyone on the ship acts the fool and totally not something you would ever see in Star Trek. Why can't the command crew be the 'serious' ones. Many of the Greatest commedy teams and show of all time always featured the one (or 2) characters that played it 'straight and serious' and the lower deck characters could play the fools. There is no need to make everyone the fool as the comedy doesn't land as well.
I feel so many 'fans' are taken in by the tons of Fanservice throw at them in the form of references to the older shows. This creates that feeling of nostalgia that causes fans to feel warm and funny for the show, but its a smoke scream for just silly missbehaving horrible characters who should have been courtmartialed years ago.
Finally a note on this particular episode, which actually was not bad for a change, was the return of Shaxs. This is supposed to be a trope on bridge crew dying and mysteriously returning without explaination, but THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED IN STAR TREK!
