- TriviaThe actors depicting the German tribes people in the series speak in German (albeit Modern German) but this series is notable as one of the only historical dramas of its kind in which dialogue for the Roman characters is all spoken in classical Latin.
- GoofsThe people in this series are shown using stirrups. However, stirrups were not used at the time. The Goths, for instance, used them against the Romans with great effect, about 300-400 years after the time this series is set.

Hilarious Fantasy
An interesting idea, a very good concept, but unfortunately an extremely unrealistic depiction of relationships in society, and the fights are sometimes hilarious.
Some characters are unrealistic, especially Thusnelda. Thusnelda kills Roman soldiers with such ease as if they had no training and stops a frontal attack holding a sword in one hand. Even in Marvel movies we can find more realism.
What was a good idea ended up as another victim of "modern film production". It's a shame, because the series has good production and costume design.
Unfortunately, the script does not allow for a realistic depiction of that time, because the writers have to conform to today's "standards".
Stopping the sword in full swing would not be easy even for someone much stronger than Thusnelda, especially not holding it with one hand with the blade facing inward. A little realism wouldn't hurt.
The series has an interesting concept, most of the actors are not that bad, but unfortunately this is just another in a series of missed opportunities. With all the flaws, the first season was definitely better than the second, where the show slowly became a parody.
After several such unrealistic scenes, it is difficult to take the show seriously. It is slowly becoming a combination of soap opera, fantasy and parody.
It's a pity that the script is not as good as the costume design and cinematography. If you're not looking for historical accuracy, realism, and general seriousness, then this can be fun. Yes, it must be admitted, the show is fun.
The show simply should not be taken seriously, but as just another fantasy series. It's a shame, this could have been a production of epic proportions, if only the writers hadn't gone in this direction.
Fun at times, but don't expect anything too much, after all this is just another in a series of "modern film productions".
