Sex & Nudity

  • The protagonist is obviously in a sexual relationship outside of marriage, then in a voiceover speaks of a spouse's infidelity.
  • There are scenes of women in stirrups having gynecological procedures done. No nudity or sexual content.
  • One scene shows blood being wiped off a woman's thighs.
  • There are no sex scenes. No inappropriate body parts are shown.
  • A woman explains how she got pregnant and then got an abortion.
  • Characters kiss and then walk into an apartment and close the door.
  • A pregnancy test with two lines is shown.
  • When a woman is walking to Abby's clinic to get an abortion, a pro-life protestor screams at her, calling her a "baby killer" that "couldn't keep her legs closed."
  • Though the film features no nudity in a sexual content, the subject matter is about abortion, which is obviously a topic tied inherently to sex.

Violence & Gore

  • The film shows several abortion procedures being done.
  • A woman undergoes a chemical abortion via RU486. She is shown in her bathroom vomiting into a toilet. No vomit visible. She groans with clearly agonizing pain. When she takes a shower, blood and bloody chunks fall out of her uterus into the bathtub. At the end of this scene, pools of blood are shown all over the bathroom.
  • In one scene, two women examine the remains of an aborted fetus, that was about 12 weeks old, to make sure that there is nothing left inside the mother's body. The dead fetus's head, face, chest, and arm are clearly visible.
  • During an abortion in the beginning, a 13-week-old fetus is shown on ultrasound, moving around as if in pain. The fetus gets sucked out of the uterus by a tube. Blood and tissue is shown streaming through the tube, with liquid noises.
  • Abortion clinic protestors hold up signs with graphic pictures (for example, a dead fetus with dismembered limbs).
  • A character examines a dead baby in a petri dish, using an instrument to lift the baby's s small, bloody hand.
  • Overall, the film is extremely bloody and disturbing.

Profanity

  • A lawyer says "Let's kick some ass".
  • Two uses of the phrase "damn it".
  • "Pissed off" is used multiple times.
  • Women are called "princess" and "twinkies". A woman getting an abortion is called a "baby killer".
  • Characters tell each other to "shut up".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • There is some wine drinking, and a couple having mixed drinks in a restaurant bar. Nobody acts drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In one scene, a teenage girl hemorrhages from an abortion complication and it is unclear if she will survive and if enough is being done to try to save her.
  • In one scene, a woman undergoes a chemical abortion in her home, hemorrhaging and passing many large clots, vomiting, and writhing in pain.
  • The abortion scenes are hard to watch.
