Mediocre teen show
halearn-8141313 June 2019
Cinematography / location / visual effects & production : 8.5/10

Acting : 4/10 most of the actors are really bad and cringey especially if you're jordanian and can understand the language and dialect , it feels like they used google translate sometimes. (the only worthy performance was by Aysha Shahaltough 'Vera' )

It has a lot of unnecessary cursing as if they were told to add curses where ever they can, some of these words are extremely offending to some people, so by doing this they have alienated a huge proportion of the intended audience including teens.

The only reason i'm giving it 5/10 is because the production was good.

Disappointing
DEffinZill13 June 2019
Although I was excited for the first arabic Netflix series, a Jordanian one that is, but it was very disappointing. I'm not even gonna talk about the false depiction because I'm sure that was never the point The dialog is unbelievably inorganic! Nobody talks like that in real life The plot is good, but the script is so unjustifiably bad. Too bad it actually had potential.

Could have been much, much better.

I am almost through episode 4, and the synchronization is without doubt the worst I have ever heard, but is nothing compared to the script, why are the kids acting like Americans? They are Jordanians, let them be that, let them reflect the amazing Jordanian culture. There is a good story there, but it has been done completely wrong. Netflix you failed here, and failed miserably.

Never been disappointed at anything more than this
sparten-s13 June 2019
Really really REALLY bad acting, and the dialogue seems like it was translated from english using a very bad translating engine too, Its not how we talk or think, it seems like a hybrid language between English and something (not even arabic).

i think there was a lot of potential for the story but oh boy did they blew it.

There is a lot of great actors in jordan but Netflix chose to get the rich kids from the fancy schools in amman instead.

What a HUGE disappointment.

Not worth watching.
ihabgeo13 June 2019
Having a local production was something that many were excited about and looking forward to seeing, but the series missed the mark completely. The script was something a seventh grade high school student would come up with for their drama or English composition project. The music was not in any way relevant to the story or the scenes in the series. The acting was simply childish but most of the blame should fall on the writer and not the actors themselves, it's all they had to work with, I guess.

I could go on and on about why this was a terrible series and a waste of time frankly but this should suffice.

Shame

Maybe the cast thinks we want to hate on them or whatever, but seriously you should quit acting, The story disrespects religions, traditions and culture of Jordan, I'm so sad this happened to be the first Jordanian show on Netflix.

Jinn - an honest opinion
jzq-5420614 June 2019
As a person who went to high school in West Amman, this is a pretty accurate representation of how my high school experience was but obviously more dramatized for TV.

I can tell you all these reviews are from more conservative Jordanians who did not have a similar experience and have NOT even seen the show, if you refer to Jordanian twitter and Facebook, you'll see a large amount of these negative comments are from people who did not know what Netflix is and most definitely don't have a Netflix subscription. They merely got on the bandwagon of hate because they are not accustomed to seeing something as simple as a Jordanian girl have a kiss (let alone an onscreen one)

Don't let fake reviews stop you from seeing this show. It doesn't deserve the 10 I gave it and I would honestly give it a 7, but it also doesn't deserve the 4/10 rating it has.

Give it a chance, it has gorgeous cinematography, good sound mixing and is a fun watch. Help Jordan normalize telling stories through film and tv, it is SO important.

Unexpectedly GOOD!!!!
qais_kawar13 June 2019
Didn't expect a lot from this series.. but it was good .. the concept was good too .. maybe a little acting issues .... i'm pretty sure they're going to cancel it because of the Jordanian government and people who still live in the stone age and pretend that they don't watch these kind of things...

What is this?
Zaid_Khoury14 June 2019
So i was excited when i heard there would be a Supernatural show based in my hometown, saw the trailer had some doubts, yet i gave it an honest chance. The Visuals were good, for a JINN show i thought there would be more VFX.

The actors are so bad that they have no emotions and no range, dialogue is something from google translate, it does not portray how we talk or how we actually are, we look weak and scared, yet Jordanians are actually tougher, they don't portray the life in Jordan properly. Its a waste of 4 hours in my opinion, my friend actually acted in this, i watched it to support him as an actor, if you're thinking of watching it, just watch it to support it. NOTHING ELSE.

Warning: Spoilers
The absurdity of Arab work in history is the amount of scenes that are disgusting and unrealistic in everything and a blind imitation of the West in everything

Clue why this got 1-ratings
Faristuta7 July 2019
Let me explain something - this got many 1/10 ratings for 2 main reasons 1- The use of R-rated language in a Jordanian production which NEVER ever happened before, and Jordan is generally conservative and people are offended. 2- Many Arabs and Jordanians had very high expectations given that this is the first Netflix-produced production. The dialogue is a direct translation from an English script which makes it a weak and irrelevant dialogue, and the actors sometimes act like amateurs, but it's a very good first step. I hope they accept some criticism but still produce a season 2.

a 6/10 only because
Yazan_l15 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This series is... interesting. it is not good, and it is not bad. The story line is too much of a cliche. Anyone can name 20 other (non-Arabic) series or films that have a very similar story. However, I cannot name any Arabic ones; which gives it some originality within its context. The series is set within an Ammani setting. So those criticising the dialect and the way the actors spoke: I disagree, it is one of the best representation of the Ammani dialect I have ever seen so far. I agree that the dialogue does not sound natural, the actors seemed to have pauses before responding to each other. I blame the directors for that. Those who criticise the "cultural" aspect of the series: the series does reflect the culture it is set in! Jordan is not "one culture", there are several sub-cultures to it and this series does reflect one of them. The acting itself was not that bad (except for my earlier point). Some were better than others, but like anything else: that is usually the case. The swearing was overdone. It did not feel natural, it is like they were forcing these swearwords out and sometimes used out of context. Swearing should have come embedded within the dialogue and not emphasised the way it was done. SPOILER MAYBE: The ending of the series was abrupt. It ended on a cliff-hanger without giving the excitement of a cliff-hanger! It felt incomplete! Tell us more about what happened, give us something to imagine what happened, or prepare us for a second season. Do not leave us with little details and no expectations. I gave it a 6/10 only because it was a brave move, hopefully giving a new direction to Jordanian entertainment. Jordanian drama is overloaded its very limited settings: either in the desert, or in some very basic-life-style setting. This series, although a cliche compared to the broader body of international media, it adds novelty to the Jordanian entertainment by introducing the "fictional" and "fantasy" element to it.

Don't believe them!
Msqour15 June 2019
They are showing their culture not ours, those people are from rich families who live out of Jordan and not-conservative families although most of our families in Jordan are conservatives and against this series ..

I watched one episode and that was enough for me to realize that this movie is like American Culture but the language is Arabic (Jordanian Slang).

Yes , we do have people like those but they are rare. And they represent less than 10% of our society. They showed the extreme free people who I - as a family doctor 27 yo- don't see them usually in clinics or in the real life.

We don't have something called (relationship with girlfriend) , those actors do have. We don't have girls talk these bad words and swear like what we heard here, the actors and their MODIFIED cultures do. Our religion ,culture and traditionals are against these behaviors.

Their ways of talking, how they treat their fathers or mothers, how they say goodbye to others, and greeting themselves. All these things are not reflecting our cultures or representing the real life we live here in Jordan!
