Lacking the inspiration for an origin story.
2.5 out of 5 stars.
First, the episode is a like a prequel with Kate coming back to Gotham after her father sent her away. Sees that her former lover is kidnapped by a group of bad guys led by Alice. Meanwhile, Alice and Kate had some sort of history. Kate finds Batmans cave and decides to take over as Batwoman.
Not really much inspiration of a character overcoming her odds and being a hero. The episode is filled with some decent action and fight sequences. Nothing really new with the arrowverse. The script and direction is terribly put together. Some flash backs of Kate as a child and the accident that haunts her. Or flash back when her love interest left her for her school.
Episode 1 is not a great start. It lacks the origin and inspirational build up with the character. It has some action which is entertaining. The script is filled with cringy dialogue which makes it cheesy.
