Deputy Crown Prince Kamal of Saudi Arabia seems to be modeled on Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman or MBS for short. In April of 2018 Saudi Arabia lifted the 35 year ban on Western films and Movie Theatres, and ever since MBS has been making the rounds trying to strike deals with high-profile Hollywood players. This could lead to the opening of new markets and provide a potential source of financing.
The Houthis are Shia Muslims residing in Yemen. Yemen is in the middle of a civil war, in which the Houthis are backed by Iran, while the Central Government is supported by Saudi Arabia.
Prince Kamal was played by Ritesh Rajan, known mostly for playing Linus Ahluwalia in Stichers.
