Major changes are afoot at Wilshire Studios, the unscripted programming producer for Universal Content Productions.
Variety has learned that the unscripted studio will no longer develop more general unscripted programming, instead focusing on premium docu-series. In addition, Wilshire Studios will no longer produce the live events “E! Live from the Red Carpet” and the People’s Choice Awards, which began airing on E! in 2018. Those projects will now be produced by E!’s live events team.
Wilshire Studios currently employs approximately 20 people. The exact fate of those employees is unknown at this time, though an individual with knowledge of the situation said NBCU will look to place them in other areas of the company.

Seven months after Dawn Olmstead became president of Universal Content Productions and Wilshire Studios, she is setting a new programming direction for the unscripted unit.
Wilshire Studios will be getting out of producing broad unscripted series and live events to focus on premium docuseries.
The studio’s live event programs — E! Live from the Red Carpet and E! People’s Choice Awards — will move to E!, whose live-events team will produce them from now on.
Wilshire Studios will complete production on the current seasons of its unscripted series True Hollywood Story (E!), DNA of Murder with Paul Holes (Oxygen), Straight Up Steve Austin (USA) and A Lie To Die For (Oxygen). Going forward, if the networks opt to renew these series, they will have to find new producing partners for them.

There was one major flaw in the prosecution's case. True crime aficionados have been diving deeper in the Jessica Chambers murder case with Oxygen's Unspeakable Crime: The Killing Of Jessica Chambers, and on Episode 3, fans will learn why the case against her alleged murderer Quinton Tellis was not strong enough to convict him of setting her on fire, leading to her death. In an exclusive sneak peek obtained by In Touch, lead investigator Barry Thompson explains why he felt Quinton was guilty of the murder even though Jessica had allegedly said someone named "Eric" was the one who committed the horrific crime. "Quinton was on my radar early on, but at that point, we were trying to identify the Erics and the Dereks that she may have known," Thompson said in his confessional. While on the stand, Thompson said that Quinton told him he believed that a man named...

It's been nearly four years since Jessica Chambers was burned alive, and the details about her death are still murky. But true crime aficionados will be able to revisit all of the details of the case in Oxygen's upcoming special, "Unspeakable Crime: The Killing of Jessica Chambers." Now, in an exclusive interview with Eddie Eidson, a first responder who was at the scene of Jessica's alleged murder is retelling the gruesome details about the moments before her death. Eddie, who had only been on the job for about six months at the time, exclusively revealed to In Touch that the evening of Jessica's had been a regular workday for him. But on Dec. 6, 2014, Jessica was found badly burned in her burning car on Herron Road, just outside Courtland, Ms. "It was just a normal day," he said. Eddie said that he had gotten a fire call for a house fire earlier that evening.
