Can't stop watching
vbreshock22 October 2018
I started watching the show and was kinda confused but I couldn't stop watching. Then I introduced my husband and son to the show and we are all so intrigued. No I can't see myself making some of these creations but I do love watching. I love her deadpan, dry sense of humor, and the puppets are super quarkey (definitely not for a younger audience)

Martha Stewart and Peewee Herman have a love-child named Tim Burton

Warning: Spoilers
Such a bizarre show that is completely worth watching! Her creations just beg to become "fails" when us regular folk try attempt, but the dirty humor is fairly entertaining. Despite her bubbly voice, she is bizarrely stoic and not very personable with camera, but it works with all of the weird goings on. I think I may love this!!!

Not your average cooking show, thankfully!
katbcoll12 October 2018
I loved this. It is really clever, the characters are fun. Christine's creations (baked, sewn, etc) are amazing. She explains what she does quite well. The sets are wild and as fun as the action. It absolutely tickled my twisted funny bone.

I am bummed that there are only 6 episodes. That is not enough! I certainly hope there will be more in the future!.

I will add this warning though: This is NOT meant for little kids. It has some quips, dialog and situations that you might very well not to want to explain. Some kids might find some of the scenes scary as well.

Perfection!
martinimaven14 October 2018
This is the show that so many of us have been waiting for. The people that are creepy and a tad weird. The people that go outside the box. No, this is not a cooking show. You people that scored this low don't get it. This is meant to inspire and entertain. I'm so happy to live in a world where a show like this exists. And I want that crazy Rose roadkill raccoon to hang with me in my kitchen.

Darkly Delicious
ladyblackx19 October 2018
For those that have written negative reviews about this show, go watch Martha or listen to the incessant ranting of Ramsey and leave the fun to us. Loved every minute of this show - adult friendly humor mixed with the fun of being a kid, hosted by a total babe with a deliciously fun dark side. So glad this wasn't just another boring cooking show. PLEASE give us more of this fun loving series (and feel free to make it longer)

A peek inside the quirky, yet wonderful head of Christine McConnell
am-1286013 October 2018
I think some people might miss the point of this show. It's not necessarily a cooking show. Christine has a huge following and people are interested in how she spins her magic. This series shows the broad strokes of how Christine creates. It's a showcase for her art, but an amateur can take bits and pieces and apply them to their own creations. You wouldn't expect an old master of art to show you how to mix the pigments for the paint. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Like a possessed Martha Stewart!
halcyonbear15 October 2018
I tuned into this yesterday because I couldn't find anything else that might pass half an hour or so. I ended up watching the entire season. Part cookery and arts and crafts, part soap opera and part comedy, it's like Sesame Street as directed by Tim Burton. The puppet characters are very engaging, the humour is as dark as some of the chocolate Christine uses in her creations that competitors in Bake Off can only dream (have nightmares) of, the comedy very offbeat. Hugely enjoyable.

Dita Von Teese and and a talking mummified cat. What's not to like?
opheliahasrisen22 June 2019
Refreshingly unique and evokes childhood nostalgia. I'd have given it a higher rating if there had been more in-depth tutorials, more varied content (ie decor, sewing) and if that "racoon" wasn't so irritating.

This!
jaqsn20 October 2018
This is the antidote to the poison that is the wave of 'reality' tv that celebrates mediocrity. It's clear this person has labored and earned the right to share her talents with the world, mind-blowing stuff. The whole production is fantastic, I wouldn't change a single thing - I hope she comes back with a new season next year.

Good Covets With Puppets
musicalfreakgurl15 October 2019
When I first saw this, I thought what in the hell!? But after about two episodes I couldn't stop watching, mainly not for the recipes but the camaraderie of the puppets. They are the best. Reminds me of my childhood.

But if you're a diehard recipe/foodie that wants a traditional cooking show. THIS IS NOT IT!

WATCH IF YOU LIKE: The Addams Family, Elvira, And The Munsters. (Anything with a darker vibe)

Christine also reminds me of Kat Von D, with her 50's style vibes.

She is Great, The Show is Mediocre
rebeccapizzophoto14 October 2018
I find myself enjoying her style... she has great hair, perfect makeup, and wears the most adorable dresses. The show's puppet characters are sometimes funny. I do laugh when they ask, 'who's she looking at?' when she's speaking to the camera. Christine's not really showing us how to make her amazing sweets. This show was created as another way for her to showcase her talents... which are many. I had never heard of her or seen her creations before this show on Netflix.

This was so FUN!!!!!
caseypfister20 September 2019
My family loved this!!! She's like a Martha Stewart with a twist! Surrounded by funny lovable dark puppets! It's just wonderful fun! With a slightly off and dark-sided cast of characters and the creativity which is inspiring and entertaining combined with slightly adult humor, it's a great change of pace from all the other shows!

We want season 2!!!!! Please!

Should be TV-14.
minutolo29 September 2022
This show is great and all, but this is definitely not PG. Mentions of killing people and "fornication" are riddled throughout this. Other than the oddly placed innuendos, Christine's creativity is really cool.

The puppets are pretty funny but again, the innuendos are just not necessary. It tries to hard to be different from anyone.

I kinda like how the Henson Company tries to go out of the box with their shows. Earth To Ned was a breath of fresh air and Muppets Now was cute.

If you're over the age of 14, I'd say go and give this a watch. It's charmingly hilarious but it's still a genuine cooking show.

Interesting concept
The_nibs12 October 2018
My husband and I were pretty stoked to see this series, but after viewing the pilot we're both rather disappointed. The set design and puppetry is impressive, but the baking aspect - which was a major draw for us - is disappointing to say the least. Does she make amazing things? Absolutely! Does it make me wanna run out and invest in a sculptor's kit and an air brush, and spend several hours whittling a single bone treat?! Hell no. It begs the question, who was this show created for? Certainly not the average home baker, and I'm willing to bet that if you're this hardcore into cake decorating you probably already know how to do all of projects she demonstrates. Like other shows of that variety it lacks substance and gets boring fast. The characters get rather annoying after awhile, their banter feels more like filler rather than adding anything of significance to the series, it's gimmicky, and I don't feel that Christine does very well on camera, she comes across as wooden and uninteresting. It also bugged me that she would skip major steps in the cake building process, so even if you do want to know how to build the house cake you're SOL. It was a really promising idea but in execution it fails for me. You might enjoy it as casual Halloween viewing, but don't expect a whole lot out of it.

Absolutely unique, spooky and fascinating !

This show is a wonderful new Netflix creation based on the real talent of Christine McConnell, who is absolutely charming and creative. It's easy to watch, full of hilarious comments and the design is sublime. Highly recommended for anyone fond in DIY cooking, Halloween or spooky Fairy tale.

The Adams Family meets Julia Child
bull-904-25022614 October 2018
Twisted, creative, and a bit dark, this show skewers all cooking show conventions with gallows humor and puppetry. People expecting a more ordinary program are apt to be a little rattled, but I enjoyed the how-to demonstrations with the bizarre but fun characters.

Christine McConnell is a perfectionist, so some of her creations are intimidating at first glance. But it's that same daring and meticulousness that propelled her to her or Netflix series, so know it's all for fun and to inspire audiences to their own curious creations.

Not for everyone, but I love it!
rpittma114 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
"Martha Stewart from Hell" is probably the best description. Doesn't tell you step-by-step on how to cook, just shows pointers for the decorating and broad strokes.

I love the Morticia Addams vibe and the quirkiness of everything! She's fixing a "Welcome Basket" while the rest of them are trying to kill the recipient downstairs, then she just gives them a slight disapproving smile afterwards?!? I couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity of it all.

Beautifully creepy!
scarvesbytara14 October 2018
This show is amazing, and hilarious. Super helpful, and inspiring. The open flame or candle trick is an awesome tip. Please make more episodes for Christmas I'm hooked. I would love to see creepy Christmas done right. I believe Christine is the one to do it.

Watch for the set design, nothing more.
ellyglavich22 October 2018
I really wanted to like this show. It has literally everything I love - adorable horror creatures, 1950s aesthetic, cooking and crafts... but the more I watch it, the angrier I get. I'm annoyed by all the characters, Christine has zero personality, and she's omitting half of what she's doing, so if you wanted to watch it as a how-to show, you'd be utterly lost... I made it to her "teaching" how to measure yourself to make a dress from scratch. I could rant forever about how wrong everything she just said was, right down to her SITTING ON THE FLOOR to measure herself, incorrectly, mind you.

She tells you everything she does is "easy," and yet doesn't for a second show you how 90% of it is actually done.

I appreciate that they tried to make a unique craft show with a story line and characters, but they kept all of the pets hating each other and being obnoxious, and never gave Christine an actual personality. I was so excited for this show; it should have been my perfect show, and it completely failed.

I will say, the set design and costuming are lovely.

Cute, and quite curious.
leoocampo6 November 2018
In concept, there's a lot to like here. It's got it's own distinct gothic charm. The content and format is equal parts Martha Stewart, Ace of Cakes, and Alton Brown's Good Eats, with the soul and asthetic of the Adams Family, while in implementation it summons the best of Jim Henson.

Does it deliver? There's enough wry and dark (not to mention suggestive) humor to stay entertaining, even when the projects themselves are not interesting, although it can be quite corny and campy, too. But it's got it's own charm. The usually are, but sometimes can veer away from food (like making a dress) which are much less my thing and could either narrow or widen the overall appeal.

The food projects (the vast majority) usually impress. But the show is ostensibly instructional and most of them are quite beyond anything I or anyone I know would actually attempt. Also, the level of instruction is quite vague and sparse for the scope and scale of many of these projects. So, I guess the idea is people like watching this kind of thing and the ones with the skill or bravery (impetuosity?) to try DIYing these are also the type who would just figure it out or join some online community dedicated to these kinds of thing? I don't know.

It will be interesting if this show finds an audience and how it evolves if it continues.

Beautifully Bizarre, Weird & Kooky
pattonroxanne17 October 2018
I have to admit the first episode left me thinking 'Huh?' but by the end of the second episode I was hooked.

Christine McConnell is a very talented artist and her amazing creations are paired perfectly with the 'beautifully bizarre, weird and kooky' cast of characters she's surrounded herself with. This Netflix Original is a keeper.

Interesting

This show was really weird but her creations were amazing. Honestly it seems like if anyone else tried them they wouldn't turn out so good. They were always extremely complicated. The puppets were also kind of dumb

Keep an open mind...
brandyphilip-1256323 January 2019
It's basically Pee-Wee's Plyhouse with a bit of Addams Family and Martha Stewart. If you just watch it for what it is it's very pleasant. People who are looking for a Martha Stewart will find the other two things offputting. People who expect something macabre will find the other two things offputting. People expecting Pee-Wee will find the other things offputting. It's not any of these things, its own sick little treasure where vintage clothing meets Regretsy and a middle schooler who goths out Barbies. I love it and so does my 4 year old, but my daughter was Coraline for Halloween, her choice.

Very long and pretty Instagram video
fridaynight-122 October 2018
I love Christine to bits, I follow her on Instagram, so I was very excited to watch this show.

Cannot say I'm very impressed. It's really fun to look at, but 99% of the tips are absolutely useless. Christine shows only the finishing touches, and most of them are quite difficult. I try not to think how she did the rest. I wouldn't be able to do it even with an instruction. Yet an instruction would be great!

The puppet show is kinda weird. The plot is not especially entertaining, some jokes are quite funny though: who is she talking to???

Still it's a very nice show to watch because Christine is beautiful, the house is stunning, the puppets are alright. Every little detail is so damn pretty! I just enjoy looking at all those magnificent things!

It's like going through Christine's Instagram account - uber pretty, no idea how she does it.

90% puppets talking
morendin-3384313 October 2018
I expected more cooking from a cooking show. Not annoying muppets with cheap jokes talking 90% of the time. It really annoyed me and my girlfriend who looked forward to seeing Christine's baking skills. It's a shame that the show didnt focus on Christine's talents, but rather on these stupid, annoying puppets.
