Members of the Screen Actors and Writers Guilds picketed outside of Netflix in Los Angeles on Tuesday in the hopes of sending an important message to the streaming giant: They think Netflix has the opportunity to lead other streaming services and studios toward reaching a deal with the writers (WGA) and actors guilds (SAG-AFTRA) since they’re also responsible for creating the current status quo.
Picketing members told Rolling Stone that over the years, while streaming services have tried to figure out the best business models on both the front and back ends,...

Major changes are afoot at Wilshire Studios, the unscripted programming producer for Universal Content Productions.
Variety has learned that the unscripted studio will no longer develop more general unscripted programming, instead focusing on premium docu-series. In addition, Wilshire Studios will no longer produce the live events “E! Live from the Red Carpet” and the People’s Choice Awards, which began airing on E! in 2018. Those projects will now be produced by E!’s live events team.
Wilshire Studios currently employs approximately 20 people. The exact fate of those employees is unknown at this time, though an individual with knowledge of the situation said NBCU will look to place them in other areas of the company.
Wilshire Studios is currently producing a number of unscripted projects, including “Straight Up with Steve Austin” for USA Network, “True Hollywood Story” for E!, and the Oxygen true crime shows “DNA of Murder with Paul Holes...

One season of Rankle the mummified cat is all we'll get, sadly.
Sad news for people who warmed to The Curious Creations Of Christine McConnell last year - there will be no season 2 at Netflix.
Christine broke the news herself over on Twitter, confirming that the series won't be returning for more episodes on the streaming service:
I%u2019m very sad to say, I've been told there won%u2019t be another season of The Curious Creations %uD83D%uDE14
Thank you to everyone who watched and has supported the series. Thank you to Henson, Wilshire, Netflix and the amazing people who made the show with me.

So how about that second season, Netflix? Pretty please? One of my personal favorite treats of 2018 was Netflix’s “The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell,“ a highly unique and totally charming baking show that can best be described as “The Munsters” meets Martha Stewart meets “Pee-wee’s Playhouse.” The series is set in McConnell’s home, which she shares with […]...

Nrp’s popular radio show/podcast, “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me,” is coming to television.
NBCUniversal’s unscripted studio, Wilshire Studios, is developing a TV adaptation of the Peter Sagal-hosted series with Storied Media.
The weekly show is a funny and fast-paced game of provocative questions and snappy answers about current events, with celebrity guests — most recently, Candace Bergen was a guest. The TV adaptation is an hour-long current events trivia game featuring three celebrity panelists who will compete in a series of comedic challenges, earning points as they correctly answer questions about the week’s news. The panelist who earns the most points will earn a cash prize for the charity of his or her choice.
No host has been picked yet for the TV version.

Netflix recently debuted the brand new series The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell, and after binging the first six episodes (I was hooked by the end of episode one), I knew not only had I found a show that featured something of a kindred spirit in the crafty McConnell, but I also really loved this wonderfully bizarre storyline that is carried throughout this first season, as well as her adorable puppet co-stars, including Rose, Edgar, and Rankle the mummified cat.
I recently had the pleasure of speaking with McConnell about her new show, and she discussed how she was able to utilize her lifelong love of creativity for the Netflix series, getting used to an assortment of new experiences while making The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell, her Halloween traditions, and more.
Your show has been a delightfully weird detraction for me this month, especially with everything going, but congratulations...

The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell on Netflix will bring together its star's love of arts, crafts, and horror.
"At no point did I think, when I was little, 'I'm gonna grow up and have a TV show,'" artist Christine McConnell says, taking a break from working on her latest project in the uncharacteristic autumn heat.
McConnell's childhood lack of a belief in receiving a TV show is part modesty but also part practical. There haven't been many TV shows quite like McConnell's upcoming Netflix series: The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell. On the show, McConnell plays a fictionalized version of herself that lives in a spooky mansion along with some friendly, Halloween-themed puppets. In each episode McConnell embarks on a different craft idea or baking project, all centered on her own cheerfully dark aesthetic.
The show is specifically built with her talents and interests in mind.

Netflix once again proves they're serious about Halloween with a new trailer for The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell.
Netflix and Chills isn't going to slow down anytime soon. Netflix has released a first look at their upcoming cooking program, The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell, and it's unexpectedly, whimsically spooky.

This thing combines everything that's important to this site: Halloween, food, mummified cats, and wonderfully outlandish alliteration (Curious/Creations/Christine/McConnell). The show debuts all episodes on October 12.
The trailer has a lot to unpack. There is a nice lady making spooky Halloween-themed baking goods with her puppet friends: a petrified cat, a raccoon, and what appears to be a werewolf. What exactly is going on with this cooking show with a Monster Mash-ian aesthetic? Netflix's description for the show reads thusly:
Wickedly talented baker and artist,...
