Change of face
Barry_Garrick22 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It is difficult to look past the most noticeable disappointment in this episode, which for me has to be Billy's scars. I feel sorry for Ben Barnes because he has to play a character who wants revenge for being heavily disfigured, when in reality Billy only has a few scars and his desperation to hide his face seems very exaggerated. For a Netflix show, I'd have hoped they would have embraced this further and not held back like they did. I feel this will undercut the gruesomeness of season one's ending slightly upon re-watch. I can only hope I'm able to see past his underwhelming appearance as the season progresses.

Hmm, I don't know

Warning: Spoilers
Ok, so apparently Billy got molested as a kid and that screwed him up real bad. Great acting by Ben Barnes indeed. But come on, his make up was ridiculous.. where's the disfigured part of the Jigsaw character? Even with his soft scars he's even more good looking than most guys lol

Getting back to Frank.. I don't know.. he seems lost. He ain't driven in this season so far.. He's just wandering around not knowing what to do or who to kill.. the little girl plot was just lame. So, he's got his new chance at life with a new identity and no priors.. however, he puts everything at risk because he feels he needs to save a complete stranger? And he's focused on getting back at the priest... who mysteriously has mercenaries at his back and call.. cause they hurt his one night stand.. who's completely disappeared by now.. that it?

Like I said, the Punisher is an awesome character and first season was awesome while all the other series like Luke Cage and Iron Fist were completely boring. However, without proper motivation, Castle is a pretty boring guy lol

Theme driven masterpiece with only one fault
zeecool29 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Thematically this was brilliant, with multiple characters experiencing the same emotions for different reasons and reacting to them in their own unique ways. It shows a lot of character depth, which is especially impressive with Amy/Rachel as she has only had a few episodes to develop. The one glaring fault I see in this episode is Billy's face. I had confidence that this show had the merit and writing proficiency to actually pull off a good masked villain/anti-hero without it being cheesy. Additionally the actual scars are somewhat lackluster, if they did choose to reveal Billy's face, it should have been a hideous mess, rather than still being pretty boy Russo with a couple scars. The end was a little strange, and had a very soap opera-ey vibe, but I do appreciate the fact that we can't quite tell Billy's true intentions yet; there's no shots of any sly smiles or cognitions that revealed Madani's thoughts that it's all an act. Overall, quite impressive and really makes me excited for the next episode.

Excellent drama; a necessary change of pace
DVD_Connoisseur19 January 2019
The appropriately titled "Scar Tissue" is a chance for each of the show's protagonists to assess where they are and how they arrived there.

This is another mature episode, masterfully directed. There are beautiful moments throughout, including a stunning shot of the New York cityscape as darkness descends and the lights blaze in the night.

Suspension of disbelief is paramount so I'll shelve my question over how a criminal psychologist working for the justice department can afford a spacious apartment in the city. Instead, I'll sit back and let this 10 star show carry on entertaining me.

Story Building
taramaepr5 February 2021
This show is more than just mindless action sequences, which is why it is interesting and engaging. Despite his status as the Punisher, Frank is not rootless. His ties to people, such as Curt, are what give his character depth and make him compelling. This episode does an excellent job illustrating that while also furthering the plot. Amy and Frank in particular have powerful scenes together that can draw the audience further into the story.

Welcome, Bill!
juanbks1520 January 2019
Okay, I think I am the one who's wrong here. This was the best episode yet in the season for me, but it got a lower rating than the first three.

Reading the title itself, you can imagine what it's going to be about... and yes. It is about Billy. Our beloved Billy Russo! Oh, man... I'm starting to have my doubts about him, did he really lost his memory? Anyways, I feel this is a good start for the character.

On the other hand, we have Frank, "Rachel" and a Madani looking for revenge at all cost. Also, we get to know more about the girl but in my opinion, still not that interesting. Billy saved this episode, I am really curious about him.

Best episode by far

Warning: Spoilers
Great episode and high quality drama. There are couple Spectacular scenes for example that one where rachel/amy goes under the best and all the horrors in her past comes.... scary and well shooted scene. Barnes is absolutely outstanding in hes performance. Captivating episode.... One more before I go to be. ..

Scar Tissue

Warning: Spoilers
Finally a Punisher episode that was low on action and unfortunately that translated to the worst of the season.

I know some will praise the character development that we got in this one, but it just did not work for me. This show is never going to excel in that area so it is best to stick to the violence.

Nothing much
Leofwine_draca25 February 2022
Nothing much in this episode. Some unnecessary character work that nobody asked for and a heck of a lot of back story to boot. Even the violence comes as completely expected.

Too pretty...
Swannasong20 January 2019
I'd love to give more stars, but the Jigsaw's make-up was a huge disappointment. There are somethings that shouldn't be so off like that.

The show is great, but it really spoiled the episode. And I've read about it before, how the scars were too smooth, but I never thought were THAT soft. Too pretty for the character.

Hollywood never gets the source right...
Jarl8612 February 2019
If there's one thing Hollywood botches time and time again, it's the prostetic makeup of disfigured characters... Jigsaw's face is supposed to be a literal patchwork of scars and skin. In Game of Thrones, Tyrion's facial scar removes his nose entirely, leaving only a hole in addition to his uneven legs and mismatched hair color. Not exactly in line with Dinklage's roguish good looks and charm. In Mortal Engines, Hester gets cut in the face as a child, costing her her left eye, a missing nose and a permanent drooping right jaw. What movie-Hester got was a scartissue not that different from Tyrion.

If you're building a character, removing a visual representation of the mental scars that character possesses insults the source material and inhibits the actors ability to portray that to the audience. CGI can do what makeup cannot, we have seen that often enough. But we've also seen how great a good makeup session can be, so Jigsaw is just a letdown to everyone, hopefully even to Barnes.

Boring
albazak29 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This season has had some of the most epic moments of the series so far, and even when past episodes have gotten more dramatic than action-packed, they're emotionally scarring and well-developed. This episode isn't either of those.

They took one of the most interesting characters, whose promise of an antagonist subplot was much awaited, and turned it into PTSD'd mediocrity. I really hope that Billy's part of the story gets much more interesting as the season progresses.

Worst episode so far
ansku-113 September 2020
Second Season's thin and poor script shows here. And the female lead characters are beyond annoying and behave unbelievably irrational (cliche!).

Boring Talk, Laughable Jigsaw, Annoying Rachel
Johnny_West21 November 2020
This episode was a climax of boredom of the past two mostly talk episodes. Almost every episode this season was padded with about twenty-five minutes of pointless discussion. This is not Gilmore Girls, this is The Punisher. Get to the action.

Rachel is played by Giorgia Whigham, who is one of the most annoying characters I have seen in a while. She has such a smug, shifty, and witchy personality that I keep expecting a head shot from either Jigasw or John Pilgrim will spare the audience any more of her.

What a drag that all of season 2 was with Giorgia Whigham as the lead character. Thanks to streaming video, I was able to fast-forward most of her boring discussion and character development scenes.

By comparison, Amber Rose Revah, who plays Special Agent Dinah Madani, is a real firecracker who can deliver her lines just with the looks that she gives to people. Really good actress who plays a very conflicted character. You never know which direction Madani will go, and that makes her fun to watch.

Jason R. Moore as Curtis is the other plus in this season. He is a great actor, and he is interesting to watch. If it wasn't for Curtis, I would fast forward everything with Jon Bernthal except for the fight scenes.

Ben Barnes plays Jigsaw. He is way too cute to be Jigsaw. The Jigsaw of the comic books was a much larger man with a totally destroyed face that looked like a jigsaw puzzle. The character Barnes plays has a few scars that look like they were painted on with a magic marker. He hardly look hideous. As someone else pointed out, even with the fake scars he is still handsome.

Jon Bernthal only seems capable of grunting and strutting like a cocker spaniel. He is really too short for the role, and he is kind of goofy looking in many scenes. The only reason to watch this show is for the action scenes. The fact that they packed season 2 with endless discussions and flash-backs makes me think they ran out of ideas after season 1.

Super flat
ansku-114 September 2020
Worst episode by now. Poor attempt of the writers of stretching the story with super annoying, unbelievably cliche, irrational female lead characters. Also Billy's character and backstory is, despite the fantastic potential, purred down the drain of the typical Hollywood villain without any depth. 2nd season is a huge disappointment already. I'm not going to continue to watch and spend more life time on this trash.

Not a strong episode
Calicodreamin24 March 2021
This episode didn't do much for me, very little storyline progression and no action (all was off camera for some reason?).
