When Kaz is looking at a holographic picture of Yeager and his family, the background in the photo is the planet Batuu from "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge", the Star Wars themed area which at airtime was still under construction at Disneyland resorts.
In the earliest script outline, the young racers Lin, Rucklin and Gorrak had the placeholder names Camie, Fixer, and Deak. These were the names of Luke Skywalker's teenage friends at Tosche Station in the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), featured in scenes left on the cutting room floor.
The Aurebesh lettering on the ejector seat handle in Rucklin's ship translates to 'pull or push to deploy'.
Rucklin's speeder bike is based on early concept art by Nilo Rodis-Jamero for Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983).
