BLUF: Remarkable episode.
Being honest, I'm muddling through the series - premises are good if not new, set direction is very good; but script is riddled with plot holes, and filled with incredibly repetitive (and cookie cutter too!) jump scares and clichés.For me, the series is worth watching overall, but only just - thrilling, but painfully predictable.
But this episode stood out. Overall, nothing new - story about a low-life on the ropes connecting with someone unexpected and gaining so much from discovering and embracing selflessness. Heck, even the character in question was a cookie-cutter abrasive low-life. But I can't recall seeing something executing this story so well. Ululation Flanagan's superb performance undoubtedly had much to do with it.
I'm not driven to writing many reviews, but this episode grabbed me. Makes watching season 1 worth it on its own.
