Heading full speed ahead to Central America, Nigel Marven travels along the beautiful beaches of Costa Rica before crossing the famous Panama Canal. But first, for an appetising pre-cruise adventure, Nigel visits Corcovado National Park which is the country's last stronghold of the dangerous white-lipped peccaries, the unusual Baird's Tapir, and a sleek wildcat: the splendid and endangered jaguar. In Panama, Nigel finds a small colony of Brazilian long-nosed bats and the small red-crested Geoffroy's Tamarin, while in the Audubon Park at the historic Uptown neighbourhood of New Orleans, Nigel discovers North America's longest salamander, the Three-toed Amphiuma, and Mississippi's classic animal: the alligator. In the end, there's another encounter with the alligator snapping turtle, one of the heaviest freshwater turtles in the planet.
