Bilbao, jihadist cells, radicals, integration, discrimination and all those conflicts that arise from being a 'moro' in Spain.
bola_de_pu20 August 2019
First of all, it is worth mentioning that I started watching this show on Netflix for curiosity, such as when something appears to you and the subconscious speaks to you. It turns out that Bilbao, the city where the plot takes place, is quite close to Pamplona, a city where I will live for study reasons in the coming years. Inconsequental data, neither more nor less, but that fact made me take a look to the tv show. Not only because I am going to be a foreigner living in Spain, as the main protagonist, but you can understand many things of the plot in particular. From there on out, I had a pleasant surprise. The series contains all the necessary elements to get attention. Good atmospheric environment, filmed in a beautiful place that is not often observed in Spanish cinema, and that contains intrigue, beautiful music, jihadist cells, discrimination, social conflicts and all those conflicts that emerge from being a "moro" on spanish soil. And it cannot be overlooked, that in addition to the elements mentioned above, the series is strengthened by the history of the Gaizka and Gorka brothers, who directly and indirectly, are the cause of important events in the series. Inaki Ardanaz performance as Gaizka and Cesar Mateo as Jamal seemed to me above average. One of the things I criticize the producers of the series is not having presented the terrorist attack itself. If they had offered us heartbreaking and cruel scenes of what happened, perhaps it gave a greater touch of seriousness and cruelty to the series, a crucial point to take it to another level and understand the complexity of the characters involved. The series fails in some aspects, but it is still a refreshing take to see something diffrent in Netflix, for once.

A Well Made Series
bshaef3 December 2021
Good story, great acting and it moved along as good as any series I've seen lately. Netflix has a good one here. Deserves an A+ for this one as do the actors and director.

To slow and without sence
bobicaradu_c20 February 2021
The action is slow without salt and pepper. Is ridiculous to believe that the action can happen in real life as in the series. 6 because the acting is good, the idea is good, directionis good, but ruined for someone ambition probably to write the most ridiculous script that in every episode doesn't make sense. Not a great montage but good music

Rushed ending
slim-4428 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Good, fast paced series, that takes you through a few twists and turns. Episode 8 was a disappointment.

Pros: fast paced, good-looking young couple, characters you can root for, bad guys who are cops.

Koro staying one step ahead of Gorostiza, the crooked cop.

some black humorous parts--like when Almudena tossed her late husband's ashes in the toilet.

Cons: Unless there is a season 2, sleazeballs like Gaizka win, and our innocent young couple go to prison for years? That's not the 'Hollywood' ending I wanted to see.

how were the deaths/disappearance of Omar, Adila, Edurne, and Koro going to be explained by these rogue cops?

Gaizka able to get to Gorostiza's number 2, in the nick of time, to kill Gorostiza. Too rushed.

Can directors STOP with characters wanting to get this over with, but then, take their time shooting the intended victims (squaring of shoulders, positioning, etc.)---so the victim can get away due to something else happening?

Looked really good until...
eshmana9 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Only managed one and a bit episodes. It looked really good until I noticed that the subtitles are smack bang in the middle of the screen, and then occasionally at the top, but mostly in the centre. And that got really, REALLY annoying to the point where I just couldn't watch any more.

A shame. There's probably some scientific theory about where subtitles go, but I prefer them at the bottom of the screen, where there's more chance of being able to use a consistently light font colour against a darker background. I don't like subtitles that bounce around the screen, and I didn't like them being right in the centre of the screen as they are here (at least on Netflix) because for me, it spoils the viewing.

Just fine

A solid series. Not high quality, but just okay. If you have to wait for a new season of your favorite series, this is a good pastime.

Another great Spanish series
ksenijaprivate27 August 2019
I hope there will be the second season, as the first 8 series have been great. The authors managed to create a very authentic "it's a jihadist attack, so shoot first, ask questions later" atmosphere.

yesparza-7824124 August 2020
I enjoyed this show sooo much! I binged watched this show in 2 days. I could have finished it in 1 day as I left only 2 episodes for the second day. Great plot, suspenseful, great twists, unexpected stuff, I just really enjoyed it. I really hope there's a season 2!

Loved it!!
sylvai19 February 2021
Awesome !! What great actors ! I loved it ! And Cesar xoxoxo and for the ones who don't understand why one was wearing clothes and not the other just watch all the episodes! He was forced to make a video which we understand later, so they had to dress him up for that video ! But we understand that later! The people who have put a bad review for that reason should first try to understand what they missed! I loved this series !!!

OH DEAR
linda-plant230 November 2021
Lots of wailing and shouting, a story that got lost somewhere in the middle, a surviving brother with a dodgy moustache who barely utters a word and looks terrified all the time, and the wrongful casting of an actress - María de Nati who not only looks 10 years old, she also acts like it. So unbelievable it was laughable.

Sorry, but its certainly not one to binge watch, but is ok to go back to when there is nothing else to watch - for a good laugh.

Excellent edge of your seat drama
theboobean25 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Very well done and it moves fast with twists and turns around every corner. I binged the entire season in two days that's how captivated it kept me and my heart was racing the entire time. To the reviewer below me that gave a 5 and complained of "plot holes" clearly you didn't even watch the whole show, because if you had, you would know exactly why Omar was dressed shortly after showing him naked. The reason is clearly explained and is a HUGE part of the entire season. Every single question the audience could have is answered. A must see!

Good show with suspense
bito1008 September 2019
I gave it 8 because of some silly mistakes in directing and some questions without answers 1- no need for full naked bodies to prove they are not carrying bombs. Putting underwear doesn't oppose this issue.. 2- why did the journalist waited 8 months at the last episode to show the what's app image to the police officer 3-why did the bad officers leave omar. His lover, mother, police officer when more police came why ran away. They are police officers they should have said that omar killed the main officer And then they controlled the situation 4- wife if younger brother shouldn't have been killed in car track sho should have continued with serious rule at the drama

Overall.. Good show and good script.. However Not all actors are with the same professionaliy

Jack Reacher with a terrorist flavor
fishybowlproductions30 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
At first glance this seems to be a very original show, but after a few episodes you realize it is essentially ripping off Jack Reacher. Eight murders carried out to cover the 1 person who was the real target, instead of an ex military sniper our patsy is an innocent arab/muslim. If you put that aside, the show is very watchable, with enough side plots and twists to keep it interesting. English audio is good enough so you mostly forget it is not made in english and the setting of Bilbao makes for a pleasant change.

A Terrible Series: Plot Holes Big Enough to Drive a Mack Truck Through
bshaef-3422924 August 2019
Surprised that Netflix let this stinker see the light of day. First big plot hole - When they were captured they stripped naked so that captors would not think there were any explosives taped to their bodies. Ok, so far so good. Both were tied up naked to chairs and left alone. When captors came back, our hero was magically dressed. Just one of many. Acting was terrible especially the hero and his gf. Netflix, you owe me about 3 really good movies to make up for this stinker.

Great Thriller Series.
dlalchandani-439955 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's a great watch.

All actors have done wonderful acting.. Esp. Omar & his Mother.

Pregnant Cop act was also good.

Journalist character was very interesting.

Series Location is just beautiful n real.

Enjoyed the twists n turns of this thriller series.

Rich people go to any extent to become heir of organization.

Few bold naked love making scenes are always part of Spanish series..this one too.

One weak point: Jihadi attack should have been shown as the whole series revolves around it.

There was only mention about it.. Not shown in whole.

Eagerly Waiting for season 2.

SUSPENSE AT ITS BEST
cenajemigen10 October 2023
Very very good plot and suspenful, really disappointed that there is no second season !!!

The story of Omar Jamal is so interesting and its makes you feel the pain and suspence his mos and his girlfriend have . From the first episode you get addicted to this series and then when you realise that there are only 8 series you think thats not enough !!! I think thT the series should be renewed since there are still many questionmarks on the movie ending . There ks space for another season or two if the Family o Gaizka does more to hide the truth . Hopefully its continues and happy that found this series on 2023 !!

Unfortunately last episode is a disaster otherwise this series was 10 out of 10
esiebaldi30 August 2023
As I said in the title, last episode was, according to me, a delusion. I was expecting a better solution to the story of Omar and Edurne. I hope in a second season but the first was filmed in 2019 so my hope is broken. In my opinion, some very important question remain unresolved and this is a great pity. Obviously I don't know if the series was scheduled by the start only in one season; if so 1 or 2 episodes more were better. To me, actors very good, exciting story, not so slow as someone said .Unfortunately the actor who plays Gorostiza is dead and I express my condolences to all the family .

Very bad writing
e-heijdendael14 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Bad, bad,bad... Lots of annoying plotholes (for example: hero tierapped and tight naked on chair, 1 episode later, same hero, same chair, magically clothed, escapes without tieraps) and unlogical behaviour of the characters.

bad play, cliche plot, many mistakes
jakkermans9 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The most headpersons play is not good. I found the islam mother Adila play best. The woman police was alright, Zaitka over the top and the forester childisch play.

Its hard to believe that one would not feel a beltbomb round his belly while walking for hours through the woods.

Enjoyable tosh with an engaging cast of cardboard characters and a hatful of daft plot holes.
CaptainPiquart10 February 2021
Good fun as long as you accept that, whatever its own pretensions might be, this is not a serious crime drama. You can make a nice collection of plot holes; episode 4 is a particularly good hunting ground. Most of the characters are good value and kept a smile on my face. There is fine exploration of the urban landscape of Bilbao.

Meh!
walterico10 May 2022
Fairly run of the mill thriller, with little to commend it - no great acting, dialogue, storyline or filming. Kinda predictable. One of those series to find yourself thinking about something else halfway through, so you lose the thread.
