Cursed Hat

This show is really starting to find its feet and revel in its surreal comedy. The cursed hat is funny, but is lifted to comedy genius in the hands of the excellent Matt Berry. Keep it up guys!

Manhattan Night Club

Warning: Spoilers
We are seeing more and more of Douglas Reynholm, Matt Berry's iconic IT Crowd character, in Laszlo which is a smart move. His obsession with the hat was the highlight of the episode, but the gang facing off against yet another rival was good to. That seems to be the winning formula for Shadows.

Hilarious

I rate this episode 9/10. The character of Simon was 2 funny. The use of the curse hat added to the funny. Always luv the interaction between the vamp and the familiar Guillermo.

Going to Town

Who would have thought it: a dance club for vampires in Manhattan. The gang goes there to meet Simon, a hip, high profile vampire, who has a large crew following him. The three Staten Islanders are hoping to form an alliance so they can gain dominion over all of New York City. But there is no having it, but a magical hat made of witch's skins is at the center of everything. Guillarmo has a hard time. There's a bathroom at the club for familiars but the facilities aren't very good. The guys, unfortunately, are outcasts, showing up in capes (of all things). Our heroes just seem to be a little short on power and sensibilities when it comes to connecting. One of the great parts of this show is the storytelling about past events (the good old days, I guess).

Cursed Hat & Cursed Episode
injury-6544723 June 2020
The cursed hat stuff provides the only laughs in this episode. A sad follow up to the excellent previous episode.

Nick Kroll is the problem here. For me, I really didn't like his performance as Simon the Devious. It felt like he really wasn't trying and I didn't enjoy the character. Big problem as his guest role is the focus of the whole episode. This character could have been cast much better.
