"We Did Dark Things, Marissa"
lavatch31 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The "City" title third episode refers to Berlin. The various plot strands converge on this great city. Both Hanna and Erik have arrived and meet up to collaborate on confronting and killing the evil Marissa Wegler. But Hanna is being trailed by Marissa's contractor, who interviews the kind family. It is implied that Sophie reveals that Hanna is traveling to Berlin.

The storyline circles back to the time of little Hanna's birth. But the twist is that her birth mother was Joanna Peterson, not the wife of Erik. Thus, Erik is not really Hanna's father.

Erik had been recruited and paid large sums of money by Marissa Wegler to locate pregnant women and convince them to deliver the babies for the good of the state. In the dastardly project run by Marissa, it was not clear what experimental procedures were performed on the infants. All that we know comes from the lips of Marissa's creepy confederate tormented by nightmares. He refers to himself as Marissa's "secret sharer," who is working outside of her UTRAX organization. He reminds his icy boss that "we did dark things, Marissa."

Erik refuses to reveal much to Hanna about her past. But he burns the DNA report that she had stolen. Hanna senses intuitively that Lucas is a rat. Consequently, Erik allows her to join the group seeking to kidnap Marissa in the Berlin hotel. Erik and his cohorts brilliantly improvise in the chess game again against Marissa and her team.

After leaving the hotel, she is lured back in, then back outside by Erik. She is then apprehended by Erik's team in back of the hotel, as Hanna avoids her killers. It is because of the last-minute "emergency" recruitment of Erik's old war buddy from the years in Kosovo (1999) and Afghanistan (2001), that her life is saved.

That police car chase was really cheesy. I really hope these guys don't continue with the cheesiness.

Better than the previous episode, which really isn't saying much.

Certainly more eventful than the previous episode. And not as dumb, thankfully. I hope it stays on this track for the rest of the season.

Warning: Spoilers

HANNA updates Eric and they meet a friend who is going to help them.

ERic and friends go on a 'mission' to steal something. The cops show up and Hanna gets to experience her first car chase / escape.

Marissa meets with a former colleague, where Marissa says she wants to put her past and Eric behind her. 'We Did Dark Things, Marissa.' He tells her. That perhaps her past is not so easily put behind her.

ERic goes to recruit an old friend.

Hanna is exposed to soccer for the first time. Hanna doesn't yet realize that soccer is not a take the opponent down type sport.

Flashback to when Eric and Marissa worked together. Collecting babies it seems for some kind of experiment??

One of Eric's group is swept up by Marissa's goons she had staking out the hangouts of Eric's old friends. Uh oh. Things are about to get nasty!!

So Marissa uses Eric's friend. to set a trap. But Eric is aware and attempts to use the trap against Marissa. All hell breaks loose!!!

+1 Star for all hell breaking loose!!! Finally!!!!

End of the episode Marissa walks into Eric's loving arms!! He used her trap against her!!!

Who's rating this so highly??
mpboylanjr-5403829 March 2019
This show had so much potential to be great. The actors outside of the lead are usually very good in whatever they do. The lead is just not right for the part. Physically she doesn't come across as a super assassin. Maybe I'm looking too much into it because I loved the film so much, and the characters were very unique and acted out brilliantly by some of Hollywood's finest. I just don't see so far anything that warrants 8s and 9s. I find it very dull , and thrown together trying to be so close to the film ,and not branching out onto more character driven plots. So far it's kind of a mess tbh . Makes you wonder who is behind these high ratings ?! Anybody who loves good television and films I think would agree that the writers and company certainly did not put forth their best effort on this one. Very unfortunate.

oh dear part two

Tedious twaddle, we dont care that the writer wants to show more background so quickly, fine show over a period of time. However making 'Hanna' into basically a petulant millennial to appease the 18-29 and younger group is laughable. Then add some awful dialogue, "We think it was an inside job" "What does that mean"? - bear in mind this woman is the elite of elite agents. Also in the episode Hanna cannot say she was in a desert, just 'somehere hot and sandy, but later gives a brief history of Berlin. Cheese n crakers, are you sure this is the same writer as the film. Don't get me started on the cigarettes, 'we'll look menacing, deep in thought, in control'. No you look like someone acting at smoking. With only four external reviews of this series, I can only assume the high scores have come from the production company. I will not be watching the fourth.

The girl grown up in the woods ...
creepycrawl688 May 2020
I think it could have been a good series, the ingredients were there. Sadly, with Episode 3 the dialogues turned out to be too hillarious and even more, the girl from the woods, grown up only with the father, remember she didn't knew what text-messages are, can suddenly start and drive a mini-van in a dangerous flight-situation? Give me a break, this series ended for me with this scene!
