Hmm Fidget spinners at 2018 November? It's a little bit old fashion at the moment. Also Krusty the Clown trying to kill Homer for bad reviews? After that he becomes innocent. Not very logical.

This could work as a Krusty episode in Seasons 4 through 7 without the new animation and technology like the iPhones, but I believe that the iPhone helped the B-plot.

Warning: Spoilers
This was a surprisingly good episode to come in Season 30, after all of the other terrible Krusty episodes we got before like Yellow Subterfuge and Fears of a Clown, or just weak episodes like The Ten-Per-Cent Solution. Krusty hides out and becomes a circus clown after he tried to kill Homer for giving his show a bad recap. Krusty is a terrible performer, until he is given one last chance to do a tightrope walk after a bear ate the original performer, and does something really funny by accident. When the circus goes bankrupt, Krusty makes a risky noble sacrifice to save the business - let the other circus clowns turn him in so they can get the 50,000-dollar reward money to fund their jobs.

The Homer subplot is yes better. Like Dial N for Nerder, it is also how this episode started before an event that put the A-plot in motion, but unlike Dial N for Nerder, I found this B-plot way more interesting. Like how the Brian and Stewie plot for once was the less interesting to watch but still interesting to see in itself in Crimes and Meg's Demeanor. Homer was a natural-born TV recapper, but he spends too much time with TV and not enough time with Marge, and he even recaps their snugglings. Homer does the right thing and quit his recaps, but when a shady man with the voice of Darth Maul and Blind Ivan asks him to come to their TV recapping headquarters, he learns the truth about the scandal behind TV recappers. Between a hundred cable channels and a dozen online streaming services that were created since The Simpsons's inception in 1990, there is too much TV to recap, and some of the shows that professional TV recappers are paid to grade don't even exist! As someone who never watched the channel USA myself, I found Peter Serafinowicz's reveal and his delivery of it that the USA network is just a bus ad to be hilarious and dramatically shocking at the same time, and stuff like that is what makes people like myself love The Simpsons.

It proves that the writers of The Simpsons still have it, and they can tell good satire of pop culture and the world that's relevant in 2018. It's funny how the jury and Judge Roy Snyder take TV recappers they hate for telling them not to watch things so seriously, they saw Krusty's attack on Homer as self-defense because he was ruining Krusty's show by driving viewers away from it. Despite his obvious lack of smarts and common sense, Ralph Wiggum made a really good presidential candidate in E Pluribus Wiggum for his childlike wonder of positive ideologies, and I found him to be a really good TV recapper in this episode, too. These both show that sometimes blind optimism can really get you and other people somewhere good. And so, I shall close this review with a TV recap of my own. "Although the story drags in some places, a few loose ends are open, and I did not like the clickbait-obsessed editor kid or the misdirection joke of Bart going from Homer to Krusty after both were injured, Krusty the Clown has a good solid story from start to finish with effective satire of TV recappers that we love to see from The Simpsons. It shows that some writers of The Simpsons still have it and can still deliver relevant satire in 2018. It also helped my faith that The Simpsons can tell new stories with an old plot type and be a fresh modern take on it with enough effort put into the writing and directing. I give it an A!"

A strong beginner nosedives quickly

Long gone is the quality of the golden age of The Simpsons. While the episode touches on some interesting social commentary on the state of internet articles, buzzfeed click bait and the like, it never really seems to go anywhere. And in the style of the classic era of the show, the main storyline has little to do with the opening scenes, however, it does so less competently, and soon becomes a Krusty story. There have been many high quality Krusty centric episodes in the past, Krusty gets Kancelled being one of many, however, this one leaves you feeling empty and not very entertained. There is little to be quoted and discussed, including a not very memorable song, having you reminisce the days of the monorail song.

Solid Krusty focused episode...

Warning: Spoilers
I thoroughly enjoyed this Krusty centric episode and placing him in a circus setting seems long overdue and was excellently done.

Honestly I don't know why it has never occurred to the Simpsons writers to have never put Krusty directly in a circus setting and have him be a performer. I really enjoyed the fact that of course he would be terrible as he's truly more of a presenting clown rather than a performing one. I also enjoyed the way the story went and it was a very bittersweet ending.

The b plot of Homer becoming a reacapper was surprisingly entertaining for the most part. It makes sense Homer would get such joy and fulfillment from this as his love of TV is like most people's love of god. Thought it went a little far with the whole CEO scene with Homer, it just didn't land for me.

Again another strong episode as my journey into modern Simpsons continues.

Had some potential - but another hit and miss episode

The car chase scene had some great animation, but the overall plot was pretty daft.

A very forgetful episode. It started off semi-hopeful, but as stated by another, it quickly nosedived.

Makes a mockery of characters and fans
gyaneshm26 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Krutsy tries to kill homer because he gave him bad reviews for a school paper. What? The creators make a complete mockery of logic and character arc. Then they create rest of the show around Krusty expecting audience to care about him? Oh, and Bart is helping the the convict who tried to kill his family?

All other tired tropes are present, krusty failing and recovering with Bart's help, marge getting mad at homer due to neglect, Yada Yada Yada.

Wish could give negative stars. What a pathetic attempt at pushing another episode without any regard to shows history or audience. Creators clearly don't care about the show at all, and with such episodes soon audience won't care as well.
