Most of this episode we see Anne seducing Ann and trying to break that thick barrier and oh boy did she do a good job at it. Her charm is unmatched. But still it isn't easy in this Era, and that was clear in the last season when she went to the wedding and she talked with her previous lover. And what she said did ring a bell on her mind l. She said "you know I am fond of you but I am just not like that" meaning She isn't a lesbian or at least she won't admit it. On the other end of the story, she is starting to put her hand on this coal business. She asked for a high price, but I have got a feeling that just because she is a woman, they will call her bluff and she will do it herself. That would be more interesting anyway. So far great writing, great acting from the leading actress at least and great music that really sets the mood.

I LOVE A GOOD STORY. I AM FASCINATED BY MS. LISTER. I'M GROWING RATHER FOND OF HER IN THE MOST UNNATURAL WAYS. SHE IS AN ANOMALY. PEOPLE WILL TALK; BUT, QUITE FRANKLY, I WON'T BE BOTHERED BY THEIR INSINUATIONS.
WHEN WE DISCOVER THE NAKED TRUTH OF HER, HOW COULD WE NOT BE ATTRACTED TO HER STORY IN HER TIME. I FIND MYSELF I DENTIFYING WITH THE CHARACTER AND THE MANNER AND MANNERISMS OF HER BOLDNESS TO LIVE OUT LOUDLY AS AN EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMAN. EVEN THOUGH SUCH PROCLIVITES FOR WOMEN OF HER TIME WERE UNSPEAKABLE.

Going by the second episode. Sally Wainwright has fashioned Anne Lister as Poldark or Paula Dark of Yorkshire who gets the women's heart racing.
Lister has set her eyes on Miss Walker and getting ready to pounce on the shy heiress. However she also dresses in black to attend the wedding of the woman who jilted her. We get to see a flashback of some racier times.
When it comes to business, Lister wants the opposition licked and heads for a showdown with some dodgy local coal mine owners who injured a small child.
There is a sense of urgency and lightness of touch with Gentleman Jack. The second episode seems to have flown by.
