No cicada = great episode
musicforhours18 April 2019
The quality just went up 4 stars 🔥🔥

Cicada truly ruined the show and as soon as he was gone the show went to it's normal quality again :)

Godspeed Suit looks like just like in the comics. We finally get to know about the Nora-Thawne relationship and everything now seems in order!

A crucial link in the story line

Absolutely necessary to explain the overall Nora/Iris story. If you don't get this, you've got problems understanding the overall story arc.

I don't know about you guys, but this episode was entertaining for me. It was fast-paced, which is good for this show. The future setting was good. And the introduction of Godspeed was great but his plot was unconvincing.

Not we are the flash. THIS IS THE FLASH
nicksconsolewar17 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
You know thank god this is not like last season because I wanted to quit like I really did. But I stuck around because well I love this show, but it basically hit a low for me. This epsiode in general is a og flash episode this show thrives from speedster villains even with the smallish screen time godspeed had he was still amazing and hope he comes back. Lot of great moments and ones I would actually want to rewatch. Thing explained and character development is really good here. I'm really looking forward to the finale I have a feeling it's gonna top the last two seasons. Hopefully. I mean could still mess up but the way there setting things up and pulling out better episodes in the past year or two I think there starting to realize how to make the flash. No agendas and we are the flash the writing just needs to fit the show's proper format and trudge full steam ahead to keep us watching and even though this season is not the level of quality as in the beginning they sure are trying to hard to bring it back and by the time this season is over I think we might get an awesome season six :)

GODSPEEDS FINALLY HERE
jdtech17 April 2019
Great episode that is worth the wait. Godspeed was comic accurate which was one of the best parts. His suit looks like it does in the comics. We get some flashbacks about Nora which is actually interesting. And the ending scene is a pretty good and memorable one. All in all one of the best episodes of Season 5

I thought this was a great way to some what wrap up the Nora -Thon relationship. It also explains her rationale for why she went back in time.

Episode spoiler review for The Flash 5x18!
linussundvall-0522117 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
OMG! Finally we got Godspeed as a character on the flash tv show! The storytelling was great and though i think we could've gotten a little bit more "GODSPEED" best episode this season aside from 5x8... the acting when nora was alone like "why does she talk to her self" type moments just bug me... there are also plotholes like why would she need the reverse flash ring to go into the room since we've seen multiple times that you don't need a key.... well, still a great episode in my opinion and a strong 9,7.

A Little Disappointing Until the End
michaelholman-8810417 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I gotta say going into this I was expecting to see Godspeed vs Flash, but at least we got to see him the show. I have mixed feeling about how they chose to portray Godspeed, but like I said before I'm just happy we got to see him. I didn't love Nora's mini origin story. They shouldn't have made it exactly like Barry Allen's. The story felt too similar and I would've liked to see Nora become XS in a more unique way compared to Barry becoming the Flash. I mean everything that happened from her waking up at the hospital with poker face playing to Thawne's speech was the exact experience Barry had. But then the last couple of scenes really bumped up my rating for this episode. Im glad Barry didn't cave into everyone saying "let's give her a chance" and actually stuck with his gut feeling and sent Nora back to her time. And his confrontation with Reverse Flash, man was that awesome. For a moment there I thought that maybe we would see the beginning of Thawne escaping (but that would've have made no sense given that early in the episode they established that there is no way he can escape). I hope this isn't the end of Thawne's life and he makes appearances in later seasons. Also could Barry's video message to Nora be from next years crossover? Cause if it is that would be interesting to see.

Not another one
ant17096424 July 2019
This is yet another Nora episode. Yes, I suppose some questions are answered but I just hope season six gets back to being about The Flash, which after all......is the title. It has become tedious that every other episode features mainly Nora. The whole seasons script writing has been lazy.

The title character isn't even the best part.
jaythezoomster18 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"Godspeed" is truly a season best. It's no secret that I have very much so enjoyed season 5. I think it had a pretty solid villain in the form of Orlin's Cicada and I've enjoyed Nora a lot. The Reverse Flash plotline has just been the icing on top of the already super sweet cake.

"Godspeed" promised to dive into Nora's connection with Eobard Thawne and it did so fantastically. Her reasoning for working with him makes sense and it was great to see how it all came together. Nora also proved to be a pretty great hero early on even when she just got powers and I really liked seeing her relationship with Iris.

The ending of the episode was an emotional gut punch as Barry hauls off and leaves Nora in the future threatening to bring her back if she so much as tries to come back to the past. This situation is a little muddy because you can totally get where Barry's coming from even if it's not the right thing to do at all. The episode ends with a truly captivating stand off between Thawne and Barry that shows why their rivalry is easily the best in the Arrowverse.

Notice how I haven't mentioned Godspeed yet? It's because he's probably the weakest aspect of the episode. He's nothing awful but he's nothing special, either. He's a solid one off speedster villain who I would be fine with returning but also okay with never coming back. His god complex feels done before and nothing about it was fresh to me. He provided some fun speedster fights with Nora but on top of that? Not much else.

Another negative of the episode is that Iris never had a chance to prove herself. After spending a good chunk of episode 12 "Memorabilia" showing that Iris was a better mother to Nora than she realized, "Godspeed" goes back to show that Iris was a pretty bad mother. There's also the issue of Lia but she's just the average run of the mill annoying character that's standard for these shows.

Overall, "Godspeed" is easily one of my favorite episodes of the season. Nora's relationship with Thawne is explained perfectly, the final scene is amazingly done and chilling and seeing 2049 was truly great. The parallels between this and the pilot also gave me a nice smile.

As a standalone episode, this was great
armo-1016620 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
While there was a lot of anticipation for Godspeed to make his debut on the show, it wouldn't have made much sense to introduce him as a main villain just yet. We still have the Reverse Flash and Cicada II, so adding Godspeed to the mix wouldn't help. My hope is that Godspeed (and that epic suit) will return in a different form similarly to have Cicada is a different person because of Nora changing the timeline. Perhaps the writers shouldn't have used such an iconic character as a one and done villain, but they needed a speedster for Nora's origin story.

The episode and story itself, however, was fantastic. Everything - from Nora's tragedies leading her to Eobard Thawne to Barry's final goodbye video - felt fresh and emotional and pure. That final fight scene between Godspeed and Nora was epic as well.

Good decision of Barry

Warning: Spoilers
I really liked this chapter. Barry's daughter is an idiot to trust Reverse Flash.

I agree with the decision that Barry Allen made, it is no longer trusting Nora.

Why i didnt have a problem with Godspeed in this episode:
golaxeoriginal18 April 2019
Because he is trash in the comics! Seriously, he is CW Savitar in the comics: -Potential -Speed -Design But his execution is bad in the comics! He is a CW Zoom Wannabe. Hes not original, not impacting, not cool. BUT OF COURSE, PEOPLE LIKE HIM BECAUSE HIS SUIT IS AWESOME.

I know he will come back and i really think the writers should make him different from the comics in terms of backstory, he is very simillar to other speedsters on the comics and on the show. Also, his execution needs to be better than It was on the comics.

Overall, the episode was good, Nora's backstory was perfect, the direction was well done (Congrats little Danielle).

Experience is the fault of this episode.
felixbambam17 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I love the show and jump at any chance to defend it or work around the obvious problems with the script and editing, this episode barely scraped a rating of 8 but since it is Danielle Panabakers first time directing I do not want to be too harsh on her or the crew. The first interaction with Godspeed felt rushed and he had no reason to shoot Nora with a lightning bolt and then let her friend escape (until later but still she had no immediate consequences). All of the present day scenes were done really well, however the future scenes changed location at times for no reason, and didn't aid in building any emotional connection to the characters. Although it was nice seeing Godspeed and to have a good explanation for his white lightning, I strongly believe that his story arc is finished and I highly recommend that he does not appear in the tv show any more. This may not be a popular opinion but it makes sense. Please do not drag him into other episodes just because the comic did that, next season dive deep into a more complex, well thought out villain such as the Red Death. I will end my review saying that the majority of problems that occurred in this episode was the pace of the episode, a lacking of emotional connections between characters and the viewer, and the script itself (I recommend finding new scriptwriters for a change of pace that will surely take this show in the right direction). This episode was good but could have been fantabulous.

Most underwhelming entry of the season
GomezAddams66617 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
To be quite frank this was not my favortie episode, not by a long shot.

I think that after teasing us of Nora's big secret coming to life and leaving us with last episode's cliffhanger the payoff was underwhelming.

On one hand I did like Nora's backstory and it makes you feel for her and understand why on earth she would join forces with Eobard Thawne of all people, I mean after her best friend is murdered she had no one to run to (pun intended), especially not the family that had lied to her her entire life, and he was the only speedster alive that could help her get justice.

But on the other hand Godspeed was misused, we have seen great speedsters in the past and he was not one of them, I sincerely hope that after teasing us with this almighty foe they don't leave him to be a one-off villain, which he might as well be since they didn't even bother to cast a real actor as his human counterpart could have might as well be a random extra. I understand this season's big bad is Cicada, but Godspeed neds to return.

I give this episode a 7 out of 10, and they are getting off light.

Questions answered, but wow
jjawilliams28 May 2022
Nora coming into the picture was a good idea, but the writing of her character is ridiculous. She's supposedly in her mid late twenties and a CSI professional, but acts like a 7th grade teenager throughout all the episodes. It's a little draining trying to keep up with the childish thinking and actions that she does throughout the series. Please God please fix her.

3 out of 5 stars.

Another forgettable episode. The history of Nora is revealed with twists and turns. But nonetheless forgettable. And a boring script.

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Godspeed
lbramson16 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Nora's past/future is revealed through a speedster villain named Godspeed. This episode should be an easy 10/10, but they kinda dropped the ball. An episode with the long awaited Godspeed directed by Danielle Panabaker should be a home run! There are of course awesome moments focusing on XS and her origin. Thawne elevated this episode to another level, but the problem is that Godspeed is a joke. He was ruined in this show starting with this solid but flawed episode. Godspeed is literally defeated by Nora with no effort whatsoever. She slaps a slap bracelet on his wrist while running and then BOOM, his powers are gone. What a joke! I like this episode, but it did Godspeed dirty.

7.7/10-Good👍
