Lots happening in this episode. We get to see the results of the hard work of the Flint PD in the form of confiscated money, drugs and guns & are introduced to one of the local reporters which I thought was unnecessary. On paper it appears that the PD is doing a great job reducing crime & we get a look at the numbers of arrests and felony charges. Flint's status as a dangerous city is changed & Flint officials and officers get a chance to relax and celebrate at the Mayors Ball. We also get to see that Sgt. Frost has been promoted with a new role & officer Balasko makes a decision and gets good news. In light of the changing times and attitudes towards police we see more tragedies involving officers being murdered. Officer Dion Sanders talks about how his life has changed as a police officer and his family makes a change. He also gets FTO (Field Training Officer) a supervisory ride along. In order to increase the will of the community the PD decides to create a Volunteer Civilian Reserve Police Officer Training corps. Even in light of the improving crime statistics many in the community seem to doubt that things are improving as is seen in the overwhelming number of calls to the PD and the slow response times of officers. Clearly the city is still woefully under strength for a city of 100,000 people. The episode concludes by looking at gun violence & we see a wounded citizen at a house that has been targeted multiple times. It should be noted that after the filming completed the state of Michigan passed Proposition 1 which effectively legalized recreation marijuana possession and transportation within state set mandates, although the state expects not to begin sales until at least 2020.
