The title of the film attracted me even though I rarely understood what it meant. While searching Prime Video for new movies, I came across it and decided to give it a shot. When I finally watched it, I felt thrilled. It's the third Bengali film I've seen and I'm really impressed.
ASCHHE ABAR SHABOR is a well written film. The screenplay is engaging for the most part, thanks to the editing, thrills, twists and even some action. At the end of the day, it stands as a unique film of its genre, which needs to be seen.
Saswata Chatterjee is impressive as the lead character. His quest to find out the truth has been very well depicted on screen. The other lead actors too deliver decent performances.
The film has minimal but very well shot action sequences which are some of the best ones ever, and are definitely worth watching for.
Perhaps the only negatives are a few unimpressive performances by supporting actors as well as the forcing of music in some sequences. The film starts a bit slow and some scenes look a bit unnecessary.
But as a whole, Arindam Sil's ASCHHE ABAR SHABOR is an excellent crime drama/thriller which is worth watching, and since it's available on Prime Video with English subtitles, you must check it out. Just make sure kids don't happen to watch it, since it's strictly not for them.
