Let’s get a few things out of the way about The Satanic Temple, the religious/activist group at the center of the excellent documentary “Hail Satan,” which rapturously premiered Friday afternoon at the Sundance Film Festival.
First: Members of The Satanic Temple don’t actually worship Satan, or even believe in him. They want nothing to do with the murders and child abuse attributed to Satanism during the “Satanic Panic” of the 1980s. Their only human sacrifices are tremendous sacrifices of their own time, in the name of the humanity.
They revel in shock value — their headquarters is a black house in Salem, Mass., home of the witch trials, and may be best known for a legal fight with Netflix’s “The Chilling Adventure of Sabrina.” But their core belief — that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion — isn’t some kooky commandment they invented during a Black Mass.

Netflix dropped the official trailer for “The Umbrella Academy” Thursday, giving fans a hazy shade” of what’s in store for them when the streamer’s TV adaptation of former My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way’s comic book series launches in February.
In the two-minute, 12-second clip, we’re introduced to the self described “insane” family of superheroes at the center of the 10-episode series, which stars Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, Cameron Britton, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Colm Feore, Adam Godley, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe, and Kate Walsh.
Here’s the official logline for hour-long drama: On the same day in 1989, 43 infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by a billionaire who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. Now, the six surviving members...

Greendale in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a lot like Sunnydale in Buffy - full of really pretty people who are bound to get hurt in some terrible ways. For some of them, the hurting is literal and they meet their grisly end (Rip real Miss Wardwell), while others get emotionally devastated. Harvey Kinkle, our sweet, precious coal-miner's son, is a frequent sufferer of the latter. Though much of season one focuses on Sabrina's love for Harvey and her attempts to make his life better in any possible way, it massively backfires and leads to their eventual breakup. It also results in Harvey losing his nearest and dearest, his big brother Tommy, in the most heartbreaking way.
When we meet Tommy Kinkle, it's obvious that Harvey idolizes him, and for good reason. The eldest Kinkle is sweet, thoughtful, and protects his brother from their father's temper - usually directed at...

Just when you thought you’d be in serious Wicca withdrawal all winter long, Netflix has some “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” news that is sure to brighten your Winter Solstice: a two-season renewal.
Less than a week after dropping that surprise holiday special, the streamer has ordered 16 additional episodes of its Kiernan Shipka-led dark take on the Archie Comics teen witch, which will begin production in 2019 and launch in two batches, Parts 3 and 4. No word yet on when the new installments will drop or how the sixteen episodes will be divided among the two parts.

Christmas has never been so sinister, with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina trying very hard to leave a mark this holiday season.
This successful special relied on the way that not much could be done without later having to fix it because this serves as a bridge between the upcoming second part of the show.
During Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 1 Episode 11, Sabrina holds a seance to check why her mother was in limbo. She tells Madam Satan about this first though, allowing her to interfere in those plans while she waits to hear from the Dark Lord again.
Meanwhile, Susie gets a job at the mall that takes a deadly turn and Roz has to crack the case. And Harvey's relationship with Sabrina is further poked at when she starts to use magic more in their everyday interactions.
This leads to Harvey asking her to never use magic anywhere near him,...

We have good news and bad news for all you “Riverdale” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” fans hoping for a crossover.
The good: The “Sabrina” holiday episode, “A Midwinter’s Tale,” does feature an Archie Comics reference. The bad: It’s not a direct shout-out to The CW series set in the same universe as Netflix’s dark take on the teen witch.
“The biggest reference isn’t really a ‘Riverdale’ reference, but it is an Archie Comics reference,” Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Chief Creative Officer at Archie Comics and the showrunner on both The CW’s “Riverdale” and Netflix’s “Sabrina,” told TheWrap in an interview ahead of the holiday episode’s launch on Friday.

“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale” is filled with family drama — just as any good holiday story should be. And the central event that kicks off the special installment’s conflicts — a seance Kiernan Shipka’s Sabrina conducts to summon her dead mother, Diane — is actually a plot point they’ve been trying to do since before the first season launched in October.
“That’s another thing that I’ve wanted to do from the start,” “Sabrina” creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TheWrap in an interview ahead of the holiday episode’s launch Friday. “In the original outline for the pilot, Sabrina was going to try to contact her mother to ask about going down the Path of Night versus the Path of Light. And then we kept putting it off and putting it off.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas on TV, and everybody wants in on the game. While classic holiday specials like “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” get dusted off annually, networks and streaming services are pumping out fresh content in hopes of capitalizing on the yuletide spirit and creating new viewing traditions.
The most iconic brand for holiday TV is Hallmark Channel, which has become synonymous with their original Christmas rom-coms. Work on this season’s whopping 38 movies – 22 airing on Hallmark Channel and 16 on its sister Hallmark Movies & Mysteries – began as early as last year.
“Early to mid-2017 we were starting to sift through all of the scripts that come in, of which we receive hundreds, and select those that we want to develop further,” said Crown Media’s executive vice president of programming Michelle Vicary. “We start to produce them in late...

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina had a strong premiere, with plenty of characters and connections that allowed the show to grow. It was with these characters that the show quietly managed to prove that women should always conquer, even when the patriarchy wants to tear into that.
But even beyond that, the empowerment from the show also comes from the way that friendship plays into things or the way that emotion is allowed to be experienced by everyone.
15 Times Harvey and Sabrina Were Relationship Goals
The show doesn't just stop at one example of what can make their audience feel strong, giving many options for us to connect with and want more from. Even the main villain, Madam Satan, could arguably be the biggest feminist on the show which is that much more engaging.

Den of Geek was part of a group of reporters who visited the Sabrina set last month. We got the scoop on "A Midwinter's Tale" directly from the Sabrina cast.
"The holiday special is really wonderful," said Kiernan Shipka (Sabrina). "It's a really emotional episode and it's beautiful for the holidays. Obviously, the show wouldn't be our show without some excitement and some demons... literally."
Shipka said that the holiday special strikes a...

A TV drama series about the life of Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn is being developed by Wildside, the expanding Italian production company behind “The Young Pope” and “My Brilliant Friend,” with plans to start shooting in 2020.
The Oscar-winning actress was one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces of the 20th century and was celebrated for her charm and elegance in such films as “Sabrina,” “Roman Holiday,” “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “My Fair Lady.” But her life has not yet been portrayed in a high-end skein for the global marketplace.
Wildside, which is owned by global production and distribution giant Fremantle, has announced that its still-untitled English-language show will be based on a treatment co-written by Luca Dotti, Hepburn’s son, and Italian journalist and writer Luigi Spinola. Dotti’s father was Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti, whom Hepburn married in 1970 and divorced 10 years later.

With the release of the mega-hit ‘Annabelle’ in 2014, a slew of imitators arrived from around the world to tackle the theme of the possessed killer doll. Indonesian director Rocky Soraya emerged in 2016 with his entry “The Doll,” and when a sequel emerged the following year, he decided to continue the franchise with this third entry spinning off the series into this new title doll.
After solving a deadly possession case, Maira and her husband Aiden try to move on with raising his orphaned niece Vanya (Richelle Georgette Skornicki) who’s still lonesome for her mother. When they attempt to bridge the gap by presenting her with a special doll from his company, she takes to it instantly and begins to form a deep attachment to the object which does warm them to her, although the constant attachment to the doll begins to worry Maira. Ah, the promise of a fresh start. The year of 2018 saw a number of unforgettable endings, but there were even more enticing beginnings. That’s good news for all those viewers starving for content — haha, what a good joke. No one needs more TV in 2018 (not with more than 500 scripted series out there), but everyone can benefit from better television.
Whether that stems from an exciting, previously unheard voice, a new form of storytelling meant to shake up the system, or just a damn solid series eager to capture your imagination, great TV is always welcome. The following 15 scripted shows exhibited all these characteristics and more, making the previous 12 months a banner year for serialized storytelling.
So make a list, set your priorities, and start sampling these exemplary new series. Some may prove too engrossing to ignore, replacing old favorites that have slipped up or forcing you to skip a...

Merry Early Christmas, witches!
The “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale” will arrive next Friday. The special standalone installment was crafted specifically to bring you some cheer while you await the Kiernan Shipka-led series’ Part 2 launch in April. Actually, it was originally just created because “Sabrina” creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa realized he hadn’t checked his Part 1 list twice in the holiday episode department.
“That was not always the plan,” Aguirre-Sacasa told TheWrap in a recent interview when we asked if he had this idea in mind from the start. “In fact, we were working on the first episode for Part 2 — which was not a Christmas episode — and I was having dinner with one of the writers and we sort of realized, ‘We’ve done a Halloween episode and a Thanksgiving episode [in Part 1] and we skipped over Christmas.’ And as soon as I realized that, I was like,...

Fear not, “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” devotees: Your favorite teenage witch isn’t going away anytime soon. Quite the opposite, in fact, as Part 2 of the Netflix series is set to return next spring and has a new teaser to accompany that exciting news. Avail yourself of said preview below.
After Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) tries on new threads with the assistance of her magical abilities, the more evil of her two aunts (Miranda Otto) takes notice: “Since when do you wear black?” she asks. “Trying to be edgy?” Sabrina’s response: “It’s a new year.” That it is, Sabrina. That it is. From there we’re treated to a brief montage of what’s in store: more dark goings on at the Academy of Unseen Arts, slightly less mystical happenings at Baxter High, and what appears to be the briefest glimpse of a menacing wolf.

“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” will return with a holiday special later this month — and Season 2 next spring.
Netflix has revealed its Kiernan Shipka-led take on the Archie Comics half-witch, half-mortal teen’s tale will return with its second installment on April 5, 2019.
In a new 44-second teaser released Saturday, the now platinum-haired, dressed-all-in-black Sabrina (Shipka) is taking a walk on the wild side and embracing her dark new life after signing the Book of the Beast.
The video (set to The Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb”) shows our 16-year-old heroine dancing sensually with Prudence, the other Weird Sisters and Nick Scratch (gasp!) at the Academy of Unseen Art, Sabrina’s ex Harvey and her best friend Roz looking cozy in the Baxter High hallways (more gasps!), and Sabrina and Harvey kissing again (extra gasps!).

Are you an Ambrose Spellman fan? Great, then TheWrap’s here to help you eat your heart out with the story of how the “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” character’s catchphrase came to be.
If you’ve already binged the first season of Netflix’s new take on the half-witch teen, then you totally know what we’re talking about here: Ambrose, played by British actor Chance Perdomo, refers to Kiernan Shipka’s Sabrina Spellman (his cousin) with a simple, but oh-so-powerful “cousin.”
And it’s not just how he says it, but the fact he does it over and over and over again. (Not that we’re complaining.)

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation has called out Netflix for its upcoming series “Baby,” saying that the Italian show “promotes sex trafficking.”
Dawn Hawkins, executive director of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, says the streaming giant’s executives “have gone completely tone-deaf” and that “Netflix is prioritizing profits over victims of abuse.”
“Despite being at ground zero of the #MeToo movement, Netflix appears to have gone completely tone-deaf on the realities of sexual exploitation,” Hawkins said Thursday in a press release. “Despite the outcry from survivors of sex trafficking, subject matter experts, and social service providers, Netflix promotes sex trafficking by insisting on streaming ‘Baby.’ Clearly, Netflix is prioritizing profits over victims of abuse.”

(Warning: This post contains spoilers from “Manhunter,” Wednesday’s episode of “Riverdale” Season 3.)
Welp, “Riverdale” just shook up all its key players and threw them out to different corners of the teen drama’s game board. (Too soon for a Gryphons & Gargoyles reference? Never.)
Wednesday’s installment in The CW’s dark take on Archie Comics ended with Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Archie (Kj Apa), Veronica (Camila Mendes), and Betty (Lili Reinhart) in three very different places — both emotionally and geographically.

A Gargoyle King-obsessed Jug and a still-wounded, but now exonerated, Archie are on the run. Veronica is heartbroken at home after Archie breaks up with her via phone, telling her even though she’s cleared his name, it’s not safe for anyone if he comes back because her dad still wants him dead.

“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” will serve fans a blast from the past on the Netflix series’ upcoming holiday episode, which will feature a flashback to Sabrina Spellman’s childhood. And “Haunting of Hill House” star Mckenna Grace — the actress cast as the younger version of the teen half witch, half mortal — was selected by Kiernan Shipka, the titular character, herself.
“When Kiernan heard we were doing Li’l Sabrina, she texted me a picture of her with McKenna and said, ‘You have to get Mckenna. She’s like me as a little girl and we’re dead ringers,'” series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TheWrap in an interview Wednesday, after the casting news broke. “And then we reached out [to Mckenna] and said, ‘Do you want to be Li’l Sabrina for the Christmas special?’ And she said yeah.
