Earl Stone's introspective journey in The Mule ends with a tragic yet peaceful conclusion in prison, finding purpose and redemption at last. Earl, a morally upright man, chooses to face the consequences of his drug mule past, seeking peace and reconciling with his family in the end. Similar to Better Call Saul's finale, The Mule showcases the human guilt and redemption of its protagonist, played by Clint Eastwood.
The Mule ending remains one of its most talked about aspects several years after it was released. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the 2018 crime drama marked Eastwood's first starring role in six years, and the film ends on an introspective note. The slow-burning narrative revolves around Earl Stone (Eastwood), an aged Korean War veteran and horticulturist who accidentally becomes a mule for a drug cartel. John Mulaney's Hilarious Field Of Dreams Recap Doubled As His Oscar Host Audition - And He Nailed It
For award show junkies frustrated with the apparent laziness of a lot of the comedic material delivered by award hosts in recent years, comedian John Mulaney has often been a beacon of hope. Whereas Jimmy Kimmel fills his monologue with jokes about how much he hates sitting through long movies, Mulaney's monologue at the Governor's Award earlier this year demonstrated a clear love of film and appreciation towards everyone who makes them. (A stark contrast from Jo Koy's hacky material at the Golden Globes not long before.) Since then, people have been wondering why Mulaney's never been invited to host the Oscars, and Mulaney's latest speech (to present the award for Best Sound) has only raised the question further. He started off with this killer bit of sarcasm:
"Without sound, we wouldn't have been able to hear such classic lines as 'You're going to need a bigger boat,' 'I'll have what she's having,...

At this year’s Oscars, Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese, two of the finest directors working in Hollywood, will go head-to-head in several categories. Nolan’s Oppenheimer leads the race with thirteen nominations while Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon scored ten nominations at the 96th Academy Awards.

However, despite the fanfare surrounding Nolan and Scorsese’s films at this year’s Oscars, the two acclaimed directors are far away from one record held by Clint Eastwood. Moreover, Eastwood’s run at the Oscars puts him in an elite club of directors, including only two others. Here is the uncanny record Clint Eastwood holds and why Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese might never break it.

Clint Eastwood's The Mule is inspired by the true story of Leo Sharp, an elderly war veteran who became a prolific drug trafficker. Earl Stone, portrayed by Eastwood, was a successful horticulturist whose business failed due to the internet, leading him to transport drugs for a cartel. The Mule made significant changes to the true story, including the duration of Stone's drug-running career and the portrayal of his character as a more sympathetic figure.

Netflix offers a strong selection of crime movies, including classics and new hits, reflecting their efforts to stay stocked up on this popular genre. Top crime movies on Netflix include The Irishman, The Mule, and Donnie Brasco, featuring talented actors, engaging plots, and expert directing. Other notable crime movies on Netflix are Public Enemies, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, and Heat, offering gripping stories, excellent performances, and influential filmmaking.
While Netflix features a lot of crime movies in its library, only a number of them rank among the best that the streaming service has to offer. Many of the best movies of all time come from the crime genre, including classics like The Godfather and Goodfellas. The crime film genre has only grown over the years, and this has prompted heavy competition between streaming services to acquire the rights to classics and produce new hits in this area.

One of the best things that showrunner David S. Goyer did with the second season of Foundation, is control the pace of an extremely cerebral science fiction show that has a bevy of different storylines developing at once. In the first season, it was clearly Brothers Day (Lee Pace) and Dusk (Terrence Mann) who were the villains ruling over the galaxy with a detached, iron fist. Now that Demerzel (Laura Birn) has essentially dismantled the Cleonic dynasty with her attempted coup in the season finale entitled, "Creation Myths", we are definitely going to need a new bad guy to be the yin to our protagonist yang. With Salvor Hardin dying, we lost our one true hero, and are left without a clear-cut good guy (or girl). Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell) is probably the closest thing we have to a main character that we really want to see succeed because if Dr.

Even though Apple TV+ is yet to announce Foundation’s renewal for Season 3, the future of the sci-fi series looks bright. If you immediately thought about The Mule, you’re not far off from what Goyer, Robyn Asimov and their team are planning to cover.

As (in)famous as Clint Eastwood is for playing reticent gun-slingers and starring in violent conservative fantasies, he's spent nearly as much of his career making films that warn against the dangers of machismo and letting your sons grow up to be cowboys. His 2021 directorial effort, "Cry Macho," is a chip off the same block. Eastwood stars in the '80s-set drama as Mike Milo, a former rodeo star who agrees to deliver a teen boy named Rafo (Eduardo Minett) from Mexico City to his father in Texas. Along the way, Mike tries to dissuade Rafo of the notion that acting "macho" is any way to go through life. "Macho" is also the name of Rafo's rooster, who tags along with the duo. I'm betting you never expected an Eastwood film to share a plot point with Disney's "Moana," did you?
The general response to "Cry Macho" was polite if decidedly lukewarm.

Foundation season 3 will feature a 150-year time jump, according to David S. Goyer, the co-creator and showrunner of the ambitious sci-fi series. Adapting Isaac Asimov's work poses challenges, and Goyer considers the massive time jump to be the hardest part of the adaptation process. The show has used time jumps before, starting with a 138-year leap in season 2, to work around the anthology nature of the source material and to introduce new characters and storylines.
Foundation season 3's time jump has been confirmed by David S. Goyer, who explains how the show will work following a 150-year leap. Based on the series of stories by Isaac Asimov, the ambitious sci-fi series was created for Apple TV+ by Goyer and Josh Friedman. The show, as pitched by Goyer, follows a 1000-year chess game between Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) and the Galactic Empire, while all the other characters are pawns.

Clint Eastwood's film Cry Macho is not based on a true story, but is a fictional narrative. The film is based on a 1975 book of the same name by N. Amidst a number of character deaths that took place in the second season of Apple TV+’s cosmic epic saga Foundation, the one that turned out to be the most unexpected was the death of Salvor Hardin. As a character, she was integral to the series, especially in the first season, where, as the warden of the planet Terminus, she helped avert the first crisis. By the end of the previous season, guided by the visions of her mother Gaal Dornick’s childhood, she had started on her journey towards Gaal’s home, the water planet Synnax. It was hinted that, like her mother, Salvor has been gifted with unique abilities of visions and psychic connections as well, which eventually come into play in the recently concluded second season with the introduction of mentalics and premonitions regarding The Mule.

Nearly four years after its last new episode aired, Suits is having a moment in the streaming world.
The former USA Network series set a viewing time record for an acquired series in the week of June 26-July 2. Suits had 3.14 billion minutes of watch time, according to Nielsen, easily surpassing the previous mark of 2.49 billion minutes for Manifest (before it became a Netflix original) in June 2021. The show became available on Netflix June 23; it also streams on Peacock.
The huge tally for Suits dwarfed the two other shows that topped the billion-minute mark for the week: The debut of The Witcher’s third season on Netflix pushed that show to 1.31 billion minutes of viewing, and The Bear grew by 18 percent week to week to 1.01 billion minutes. The latter is the second Hulu series (and the first produced by FX) to break the billion-minute threshold for a single week, after The Handmaid’s Tale.

The Mule, a menacing and mysterious character from Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, makes a brief but impactful appearance in season 2, episode 2, warning of impending darkness. The Mule, a mutant telepath with a thirst for conquest, manipulates minds and emotions but is also cunning outside of his mental abilities, disguising himself as a court jester to seize power. The Mule poses a serious threat to Hari Seldon's Foundation, as he is able to circumvent Seldon's predictions and manipulate the humans that Seldon's psychohistory is based on, ultimately leading to the downfall of the First Foundation.

Season two of The Bear served up a strong showing on the streaming charts for its premiere week.
The FX-produced Hulu series drew 853 million minutes of viewing time for the week of June 19-25, according to Nielsen — more than twice its best showing for season one last year. The Bear made Nielsen’s top 10 original series one time in 2022 with 349 million minutes.

Co-founder and CEO Aaron L. Gilbert disclosed the news in a statement on Wednesday, penning a letter to the banner’s “friends, partners, team members and backers.”

The company filed for creditor protection in Vancouver, B.C., and Chapter 15 in the U.S.
Gilbert wrote that Bron will be working with its creditors and stakeholders alongside court-appointed monitor Grant Thornton Limited and that proceedings “are expected to be completed by late

For the most part, the star has appeared in a range of film genres. This spans drama, comedy, and horror. But he’s mostly known for his role as Tucker in the Australian horror film series The Mule. Season two of Netflix’s compelling legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer gets under way July 6 and Jazz Raycole can’t wait for court to be in session. Raycole is reprising her role as Izzy Letts in the hit show, which is a new adaptation of Michael Connelly’s books. The series from Nine Perfect Strangers and Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley debuted big last year and fans have thoroughly embraced this solid, rewarding courtroom drama.
“Let's be real — David E. Kelley is TV gold,” beamed Raycole. “He’s the master of TV because he creates unique and creative projects. So, for me, I was floored [to be in the show]. Clint Eastwood's 2018 movie The Mule is now charting on Netflix. The movie stars Eastwood as Korean War veteran Earl Stone, who gets caught up in becoming a drug mule for a cartel and tries to stop his life from spinning out of control. Although Eastwood has directed two other movies since then - 2019's Richard Jewell and 2021's Cry Macho, The Mule is his last major hit as it raked in a total of $174.8 million at the worldwide box office.
Now, The Mule has made a surprising appearance on Netflix's Top 10 English-language movies chart for the past week. On the VOD charts, action rules. A recent price drop to $5.99 has propelled “John Wick: Chapter 4” (Lionsgate) to continued #1 positions at iTunes and Google Play, while revenue-ranking Vudu kept “Fast X” (Universal) in the top position. “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” (Universal), price now reduced to $19.99 (including download) placed #2 at all three sites.
New entry “The Machine” (Sony), an action comedy starring Bert Kreischer, here adapting his semi-biographical stand-up routine, is #3 at Vudu at $19.99 while placing on a three charts. It hit home viewing after its fourth weekend in theaters, where it managed only $10 million in gross.
After a recent spate of theatrical releases dominating Netflix’s top ten movie chart, their home-grown titles took six of the slots this week. “Extraction 2” repeats at #1, with their usual eclectic mix taking other slots.

After three weeks of PVOD play, “John Wick: Chapter 4” (now $5.99) returns to #1 on two of the three leading top ten charts with the lower price. Lionsgate delayed home availability for an unusual two months for this hit theatrical release, thus making an earlier than usual reduction of price unsurprising. Nor is its return to #1 unexpected.
Vudu continues with the latest “Fast and Furious” franchise release — “Fast X” — at #1. It fell to #3 at iTunes, while almost certainly an error has resulted in it being nowhere currently on Google Play’s chart (it was #1 as recently as Saturday).
The appeal of action titles is also shown at both Netflix and elsewhere on the VOD charts. Netflix’s original film “Extraction 2” with Chris Hemsworth (and an added Idris Elba) is #1 there, with its 2020 predecessor #3. “Kandahar” (Open Road) with Gerard Butler in an Afghanistan rescue story, which grossed under $5 million in theaters...

In an unprecedented feat in Hollywood history, Clint Eastwood has continued to star in and direct feature films into his late 80s and early 90s. With the recent announcement of his supposed final film, Juror #2, it appears as though the icon is preparing to embark on his last dance as an artist. Having frequently engaged with his public persona through the screen throughout his career, Eastwood has especially dissected himself at an overtly personal level over the last five years. Before Cry Macho in 2021, the defining late-period meditative film of his career will be The Mule, the 2018 film that stands as the truest expression of the beloved movie star and filmmaker.

It's not uncommon for comedians to have their own shows where they basically play themselves, but Pete Davidson's "Bupkis" goes the extra mile. The show doesn't just play around with the public perception of who Pete Davidson is -- it directly comments on his real-life events with a specificity that Larry David has only occasionally dared.
For example, the show's sixth episode features Pete shooting a movie where his character gets his face blown up ten minutes in, a clear-cut commentary on Pete's real-life role in "The Suicide Squad." The director tells Pete how he asked his kids which actor they wanted to see get shot in the face and the kids immediately said Pete Davidson, which is darkly reminiscent of a joke that was told a lot in the aftermath of that movie. People on the internet have a lot of mean things to loudly say about Pete,...

Clint Eastwood had at last achieved film stardom in the United States when Sergio Leone's "Dollars Trilogy" was meted out to theaters over the course of 1967 and '68. The films were hits internationally, but had been held back from U.S. theaters because distributors were concerned Akira Kurosawa and Toho might sue them due to 1964's "A Fistful of Dollars," the first movie in the trilogy, bearing a remarkable similarity to the Japanese director's masterpiece "Yojimbo" (which was itself an unofficial adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's "Red Harvest"). Toho did sue, but the success of the second and third films, which were top-down originals, more than offset what they lost over the first movie.
In any event, Eastwood had emerged as a Western antihero for a new, rebellious generation. While he was more than happy to knock out more oaters in roughly the same revisionist vein as Leone's movies,...

Nick Schenk, a film and television screenwriter with an affinity for grit, has signed with Agency for the Performing Arts.
Schenk has penned three scripts that became director-star vehicles for Clint Eastwood: “Gran Torino,” “The Mule,” and “Cry Macho.” 2008’s “Gran Torino” revived Eastwood as a leading man at the box office, earning nearly $270 million worldwide on a reported $33 million budget. Schenk also wrote “The Judge,” a 2014 feature teaming of Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall, earning the latter an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor.
Most recently, Schenk co-wrote ‘”A Christmas Story Christmas” for Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment. An update to the holiday classic, the HBO Max original saw young Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) all grown up trying to recreate the Christmas magic of his youth for his own kids.
Schenk’s TV credits include co-executive producing the Discovery anthology series “Manhunt” about Unabomber Ted Kaczynski, starring Sam Worthington and Jack Huston.

With Pink Floyd unlikely to reunite ever again, Gov’t Mule will fill the void this summer by embarking on “The Dark Side of the Mule Tour.”
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon, Gov’t Mule will perform Pink Floyd covers on a newly announced amphitheater tour. Each show will also feature a separate set of Gov’t Mule originals, as well as special guest opener Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.
According to frontman Warren Haynes, the upcoming tour will mark the final “Dark Side of the Mule” performances. “This all started so organically with what we thought would be a one-time Halloween performance [in 2018]. Since then, ‘Dark Side of the Mule’ has grown into something else. One of the most fascinating aspects of Clint Eastwood's 65-year film career has been his willingness to play not just ornery cusses, but, in many cases, a downright bastard. From The Man with No Name in Sergio Leone's "Dollars Trilogy" to nonagenarian drug smuggler Earl Stone in "The Mule," Eastwood has always sought out messes of manhood: lousy husbands, absent fathers, and straight-up killers. If retired rodeo star Mike Milo winds up being Eastwood's acting swan song, he might stand as one of the kindest characters in Eastwood's oeuvre.
What kind of self-respecting woman would take up these heels? That's what the female characters in Eastwoods' films are often wondering. The answer, of course, is that Clint's laconic nature masks a boyish playfulness that can be irresistible (especially when he's using an orangutan as his wingman). He's a tall drink of water who plays it gruff until he flashes that devilish grin,...

Jordan Peele’s 2017 movie Get Out became an instant classic thanks to its incredible characters, compelling mix of comedy and horror, and pinpoint skewering of America’s racial dynamics. The film abounds with memorable moments, including when the patriarch of his villainous family, Roman Armitage (played by Richard Herd), reveals the disturbing twist to a kidnapped Chris (Daniel Kaluuya).
Herd isn’t in Get Out for long, but he has a crucial role in landing Peele’s central metaphor about racism. The director used an idiosyncratic piece of advice to help the actor find the right tone for the scene.
‘Get Out’ is one of the best movies of the century
When the trailers for Get Out first dropped, it was easy to be skeptical of the concept. In 2017, Jordan Peele was half of a beloved comedy duo with Keegan-Michael Key, but no one knew about his ambitions as a solo filmmaker.

Clint Eastwood considered acting retirement but one role convinced him otherwise. Eastwood made his name as an actor, but once he broke through with movies like the Dollars Trilogy, he quickly set his sights on becoming a director too. He made his directorial debut with 1971 psychological thriller Play Misty For Me, and decades later is just as well known for his work behind the camera. Beginning with the 2000s, Eastwood made the transition from performing onscreen to directing full-time, with some noticeably large gaps between his acting appearances.
That might be down to the fact he was aging out of the kind of thriller and action roles he made his name with. The '90s saw Eastwood make some acclaimed work like Unforgiven - which he also directed - and In The Line Of Fire, but finding roles that were both interesting and age-appropriate became more difficult. 2002's lethargic thriller...

If the January box office is any indication of how the rest of 2023 will play out, movie theaters should see a significant rise in business compared to last year — albeit still below what they saw before the pandemic.
Comscore data shows that the monthly total for the North American box office finished at 588.5 million, a staggering 50% increase from January 2022. The key driver, of course, was Disney/20th Century’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” with 222.5 million in domestic grosses that month.
But unlike last year when “Spider-Man: No Way Home” was the only serious moneymaker with smaller support coming from Paramount’s “Scream” revival, “Avatar 2” got more support from a wider array of new releases and holiday holdovers.

By the time "Dirty Harry" came along, Clint Eastwood was already a movie star. So, it's fair to say that this film not only solidified his place in the Hollywood firmament but also crystallized his star persona. The role of Harry Callahan took someone who was already the embodiment of traditional toxic masculinity, and cranked that up to 11, captivating enough people to make it the sixth-highest-grossing film of 1971. "Dirty Harry" features so many things I find objectionable, yet I cannot say that the film isn't an entertaining watch. That is due in large part to Eastwood's performance, clearly enjoying playing a hard-ass cop who doesn't play by the rules.
While Eastwood and "Dirty Harry" are now inextricably linked thanks to the five-film franchise that it spawned (six if you count the unofficial spiritual sequel "Gran Torino"), he was not the first actor the studio looked to star in the film.

"A Christmas Story" is a staple of the holiday season, with annual 24-hour marathons on TBS and TNT. This year we have double the Ralphie fun because a sequel, "A Christmas Story Christmas," is streaming on HBO Max. Not only that, but Peter Billingsley, who played Ralphie, and his Wild West Picture Show Productions partner Vince Vaughn, have started a new video podcast called "A Cinematic Christmas Journey." The first episode is about "A Christmas Story," and we're getting some fun tales from the set.
It's hosted by Billingsley and Nick Schenk, the screenwriter for the Clint Eastwood films "Gran Torino," "Cry Macho," and "The Mule," as well as the new sequel "A Christmas Story Christmas." For this episode, Schenk and Billingsley welcome Ian Petrella, who played Ralphie's little brother Randy, R.D. Robb, who played Schwartz, and Scott Schwartz, who played Flick. There are stories about the cursing Ralphie did and where it came from,...
