Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockman have never had an assignment like the one they faced with “All the Light They Cannot See,” the four-part Netflix wartime limited series that’s adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel from author Anthony Doerr. The UK-based casting directors were tasked with finding a pair of blind actors to play the dual lead role of Marie-Laure LeBlanc, a blind French girl. Executive producer and director Shawn Levy was insistent that they go for strict authenticity in casting. And Netflix was very much onboard. It tells you everything you need to know about partners Bevan and Brockman that hey viewed this incredibly difficult challenge as “a hugely appealing” thing, in Bevan’s words. “Casting a blind person in a leading role…well, it’s never been done before,” Bevan adds. “But that was very much part of the appeal.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.

Zack Snyder is currently promoting his latest movie, ‘Rebel Moon- Part 2: The Scargiver,’ and we’re sad to report that it’s one of the lowest-rated movies of his career.
Fortunately, this whole affair provided us with the unique opportunity to pick Snyder’s brain when it comes to his former projects, notably, Dceu which ended up being rebooted by Gunn and Safran last year, with plenty of projects on the way.
Snyder has already given us some insight when it comes to the notable Superman vs. Zod fight scene, he admitted that if Superman is not put in the position to kill he is fake. He also admitted that he was surprised to see fans mocking the “Martha” scene since it was supposed to be a really profound moment in the movie during which the two men realize they aren’t actually on opposing sides.

Apologies in advance if any eighties kids who watched the original The NeverEnding Story are triggered by the reference to "slow horses" in the headline above (justice for Artax!) But it's all in service of news that See-Saw Films, the company behind The King's Speech and, yes Slow Horses, has the rights to make a new adaptation of Michael Ende's 1979 tome.
For those who didn't grow up traumatised by the tragic interaction of a faithful steed and the Swamp of Sadness in the 1984 fantasy film, here's the basic (NeverEnding) storyline… Ende's tale focuses on shy, young, bookish Bastian who gets threatened a lot by bullies. Retreating into the relatively safety of an attic and a fictional world, he settles in to read the mysterious, titular fantasy book.
It, in turn, follows the heroic Atréyu and his mission to save the magical realm of Fantastica — chock full of dragons,...

The other day I was attending a marriage function in Bangalore. In one of the rooms where I was sitting with the guests, a radio was humming in the background, though there was a DJ music being played and all the guests on the room where glued to music on their mobiles. However, this radio was humming on, playing Binaca Geet Mala. I asked the owner why he was still playing the pocket radio when music was now available in different forms and that too in customized format in the cloud. He said radio was a part of his growing up and it was a manifestation of nostalgia, which no other format could replace, and the present mode of communication via Radio does not have that engaging aura that Ameen Sayani used to hold and continues to hold through archives.

“The Crown” is gearing up for its last hurrah at the SAG Awards, an organization that has bestowed a number of prizes onto the Netflix regal show over the years. It claimed the highly coveted TV drama ensemble prize twice (2019 and ’20), while individual winners through the years were Claire Foy (2016 and ’17), John Lithgow (2016) and Gillian Anderson (2020). Now the sixth and final season is hoping to prevail for a third time, which would tie it with “Downton Abbey” in this category at three total wins.
Season 6 faces off in the TV drama ensemble race against fellow nominees “The Gilded Age,” “The Last of Us,” “The Morning Show” and “Succession.” Elizabeth Debicki is “The Crown’s” only solo acting nominee this year, with her co-nominees in the TV drama actress category being Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), Bella Ramsey (“The Last of Us”), Keri Russell (“The Diplomat”) and Sarah Snook (“Succession”).

Law & Order: Svu’s Tamara Tunie Takes Us Inside Her Moving Organized Crime Reunion With Chris Meloni
Medical examiner Melinda Warner was only on screen for a few minutes of Thursday’s Law & Order: Organized Crime, but the short scene carried a lot of meaning for longtime Svu fans.
Not only was Tamara Tunie’s return the first time we’ve seen onetime Svu series regular Warner since Svu‘s 500th episode, it marked a quiet moment of… dare we say friendship between the coroner and the ever-more-reflective cop? The scene also allowed Tunie and series lead Chris Meloni, who are friends in real life, a chance to mix it up in the morgue once more.

ESPN is responding to claims made by Pat McAfee that an executive from within the sports network is “trying to sabotage” his show.
“No one is more committed to and invested in ESPN’s success than Norby Williamson,” read a statement from an ESPN spokesperson. “At the same time, we are thrilled with the multi-platform success that we have seen from The Pat McAfee Show across ESPN. We will handle this matter internally and have no further comment.”
McAfee took to his show on Friday, which airs on ESPN, to call out Williamson, saying, “We’re very thankful for the ESPN folks for being very hospitable. Now, there are some people actively trying to sabotage us from within ESPN — more specifically, I believe Norby Williamson is the guy who is attempting to sabotage our program.”

It’s about damn time! Jon Hamm is finally getting his own series on Apple TV+, and all is right with the world. Well, not really, but it’s just an expression, right? Hamm’s new Apple show is titled Your Friends and Neighbors. The straight-to-series project stars Hamm, who will also executive produce. Your Friends and Neighbors is the Tag and The Morning Show star’s first ongoing drama since the salad days of AMC‘s Mad Men.
The concept for Your Friends and Neighbors stems from an original idea by Jonathan Tropper, the director of Banshee and Warrior and writer of See, The Adam Project, Kodachrome, and more. Thanks to his overall deal with Apple, Trooper will showrun and executive produce. In addition to his starring role, Hamm executive produces the show with Connie Tavel (Confess Fletch).

Jon Hamm is getting his own Apple show — finally!
The Emmy-winning Mad Men grad, who previously “begged” Apple for a show of his own in a tongue-in-cheek ad for the streamer, will star in and exec produce the straight-to-series Apple drama Your Friends and Neighbors. The role marks Hamm’s first starring role in an ongoing drama series since AMC’s Mad Men wrapped its seven-season run in 2015.
Your Friends and Neighbors, based on an original idea by Jonathan Tropper (See, Warrior, Banshee), revolves around Coop (Hamm), a recently divorced hedge fund manager who, after being fired, resorts to stealing from the wealthy residents in his tony upstate New York suburb in order to keep his family’s lifestyle afloat. The petty crimes begin to reinvigorate him until he breaks into the wrong house at the wrong time.
Tropper will serve as showrunner and exec produce via his overall deal with Apple.

When Apple TV+ launched on November 1, 2019, there were reservations about it because who needed another streaming service?
It seemed like another venture by the tech giant, Apple, to squeeze its customers the last dollars in their pockets as nothing cheap comes from them.
However, the launch surprised many when the service was cheaper than all others in the same industry, and here's the kicker: the shows were actually good.
The streamer hit the mark with its scripted launch dramas that boasted a stellar cast of respectable actors, and the stories told were some of the best of the past ten years.
The launch slate consisted of three top-tier dramas: For All Mankind, See, and The Morning Show.
These shows were peak television with ingenuity, great production value, and, most importantly, great stories.

It is the second time this year that the business, which is now majority owned by Korean studio Cj Enm, which paid $785M for an 80% stake, has had to make cuts following layoffs in April.
The company is run by Graham Taylor and Chris Rice, who are Co-CEOs. Joe Hipps runs the TV side of the business as EVP, TV Development and Production and Alexis Garcia runs the film group.
On the TV side, it is also behind See, Killing Eve, The Night Manager, Tokyo Vice, and upcoming projects such as Alma Har’el’s Lady in the Lake starring Natalie Portman for Apple.

As Barbie becomes the highest-grossing film of 2023 today at the domestic box office with north of $575M, Warner Bros and Imax said the Greta Gerwig-directed movie is getting a one-week Imax release starting September 22 in North American and select locations around the world.
The pic starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling has cleared $1.3 billion at the global box office.
In addition to experiencing the film for the first time in Imax, audiences will be treated to exclusive post-credits footage selected by Gerwig. You’ll remember that Oppenheimer grabbed all those Imax theaters during its opening weekend because that Christopher Nolan directed epic was shot with Imax cameras.
”The worldwide enthusiasm for Barbie has been overwhelming, humbling and deeply moving,”Gerwig said in a statement. “So many Barbie fans went on this journey with us, and we can’t thank them enough for supporting the film and sharing their Barbie experience in theaters,...

The studio facilities are facing an anxious few months as crews and indie productions ponder US slowdown.
UK studios are facing a challenging few months as uncertainty about a potential rise in the rate of property taxes for facilities in England and Wales rages on, and the ongoing US writers’ and expected actors’ strikes force a slowdown in the once torrential flow of film and high-budget TV from Hollywood.
Significant business rates hikes of up to 200%-300% are being mooted as a result of increases in the rateable value of these facilities made by the UK’s Valuation Office Agency (Voa). For existing studios,...

Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming, spent the day out with her daughters in L.A. to pay tribute to the girl’s father.
The video of their outing shows clips and pictures switching between 2018 and 2023 as they visit the same areas in Hollywood they had gone to five years ago.
Their first stop was at Willis’ star on the Walk of Fame, where they posed and took pictures. They then went to Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. The video shows the two daughters, Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 9, going up to the wax figure of their father and hugging him.
“That’s Daddy!” a younger Mabel exclaimed. “Daddy, I missed you so much.”
The clip then shows a four-year-old Evelyn following her older sister’s action and saying the same words.
“2018 vs 2023—it’ll never get old #proudfamily,” Heming wrote in the caption.
Earlier this month, Willis took the two girls to Disneyland.
