Zero Laughs

The new format is not working for this show. The first half of the season was great, but the mid season shift has changed this show so much for the worse. The camera work is I'll-fitting, the joke pacing is unbearably slow, and the introduction of new characters feels forced. What a shame.

It Lost Its Charm

It is hard to describe what has happened to this show. It has become obvious from this episode, as well as the two previous, that the goal was for it to be restructured into a workplace sitcom such as The Office. As a result, the show was forced to introduce a bunch of new random characters who offer nothing more than poorly written jokes delivered in a seemingly depressive way. The show also has a much darker feel to it now and has lost the most important characteristic that made it enjoyable to watch in the first place...the chemistry and funny friendship between Max (Adam Scott) and Leroy (Craig Robinson). The showrunner never had to change the original concept for the show, by making it a workplace comedy. All he had to do was improve upon the secondary characters by giving them more interesting B-stories and funny lines that would make this Scott and Robinson driven comedy even funnier. It's a shame because I really like them both as actors and am guessing that the show will be officially cancelled after next weeks episode. The show just never really knew the direction it wanted to move in and it suffered greatly as a result.
