I liked it leave me alone😅

I'm mostly enjoying this season. I do see where some people are coming from. You do kind of have to suspend your disbelief way more than the first two seasons. This season has become kind of goofy, but hey, the acting is good, I like the characters, I'm enjoying it.

Chapter Five

Warning: Spoilers
A fun episode here with some action, and even decent scenes with Winona and David, which is certainly not always the case.

This is more like the show we have come to expect.

The excitement continues.
BA_Harrison8 July 2019
Part five of season three starts off in cracking form with Steve, Robin, Dustin and Erica unwittingly taking the express mall elevator to Russian HQ, deep below the surface of Hawkins, and with Joyce and Hopper finding trouble in the basement of an old farmhouse - trouble in the shape of a big Russian with a machine gun! The kids in the elevator escape to explore a network of tunnels, and Joyce and Hopper take a hostage, Alexei, from whom they hope to get some answers.

With just the right blend of excitement and humour, this is another excellent episode (after the wonderful fourth episode), one that sees the characters in more then a little genuine peril. The kids in the subterranean Russian lair are pursued by evil Russians, with Dustin and Erica escaping, but Steve and Robin being taken captive, and Nancy and Jonathan come face-to-face with a globulous monster in the Hawkins Memorial Hospital.

All in all, a very satisfying episode that bodes well for the remaining chapters.

7.5/10, rounded up to 8 for IMDb.

More awesomeness

It just keeps getting better and better, absolutely amazing I love every second of this. I think the separation of the characters into 3 separate storylines is working very well and each one Is different but awesome.

Great episode, great season

To the idiots wanting the FBI/CIA etc called, what good would that do to the show. Er help we have a problem, FBI show up, take over case, end of series. Take the show for what it is, real life in an unreal world. characters have to evolve, relationships are awkward at that age. Stranger things is about the characters, their adventures, the strange goings on in Hawkins, the 80's nostalgia, the list is endless. Switch of your brain and enjoy a sci fi masterpiece. It's about the entertainment, it doesn't always have to make perfect sense. If you want real life watch a documentary. This episode is just as good as the ones before. Funny, scary, shocking, clever, daft, brilliant, all rolled into a single episode. I can't wait to watch the last 2

Good episode
funnycommentor11 July 2022
The plot of the fifth episode, was nice. It was an intense episode, especially the ending scene. The final battle was so brutal, very intense and totally, unexpected. I have to admit, that season 3 is very brutal and violent, so far. By the way, can't wait to watch the new adventures of Dustin, Steve, Erica and Robin. Actually, that episode was mostly about Dustin, Steve, Erica, Robin, Nancy and Jonathan. The other group of friends (Eleven, Mike, Max, Lucas and Will) didn't have much screening time. Also, the whole storyline about Jim and Joyce is kinda boring, but I still really like them!

I'll be back ...

Despite being riddled with inconsistencies and incoherence, this is a fabulous second consecutive episode. The pace is good, danger lurks behind every corner and the acting is excellent.

Winona Ryder is brilliant again as Joyce, changing gear at will, producing a fine performance, though the bickering between her and Jim could be dialled back a little. Indeed the comedy element is overplayed in this otherwise gritty, action-packed story.

Fun and exciting.
cruise0129 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 3.05 (5 out of 5 stars).

The episode continues with its fast paced story that feels like a 1980s movie thriller. Joyce and Hopper being chased by a big bad Russian guy that almost looks like he is acting in a Terminator movie. And they took a Russian scientist Alexi who is awkward and charming in a way. Mike, Eleven, Lucas, and Max go to the hospital with Nancy and Jonathan to find the lady who was infected by that monstrous thing. Only to discover something sinister. Robin, Dustin, and Steve discover an underground facility and are trying to find a way out.

The episode is a lot of fun. Action packed. Funny, and every scene moves at a fast pace. The final few mins with a monstrous thing forming was scary and exciting.

Warning: Spoilers
A lot of things are becoming more and more unbelievable. I'd given the Starcourt gang the benefit of the doubt until this point, but I mean come on it's four kids running around in an underground top secret Soviet base. Since when did kids (that includes the others as well) have the detective skills of Sherlock? The Terminator dude was kinda cool but seems to be too obvious a throwback as the directors seem to love framing him in this uber-badass way and it just feels like the show is trying so hard for spectacle, and to please its audience with references and fan-service. The terrible aim also wasn't appreciated. That being said, the uncovering of this mystery is getting more and more intriguing and I'm really looking forward to how this all links together. The final hospital scene was gruesome to say the least, pretty cool. Overall a decent episode but the outlandish writing needs to stop

Can we stop with the strobing please?
kxprailer4 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Totally fine episode. The continuing mystery of "The Flayed" finally blown wide open. Unveiling the monster. But this show continues to do the one thing I can't stand. Having every appearance of the monsters be accompanied by long sequences of flashing lights. Making the whole scene hard to watch. Hard to tell what's actually happening.

It's an overused trope and I wish that they would just let scenes play out. The actual horror scenes in this show do nothing but give me a headache now.

Very sadly written

I have 0 clue how this episode got such a high score... This was my last episode, I tried this season. But the plot armor, and stupid unrealistic decisions killed this for me.

Great Sequel
claudio_carvalho26 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The elevator where Steve, Robin, Dustin and Erica are trapped goes uninterruptedly down until it stops. When Russian agents arrive, they succeed to leave the shaft but they cannot leave the underground base. Hopper and Joyce seek a machine at the real states recently bought by Kline until they find the location. However the Russian agent arrives but they succeed to flee with a Russian scientist. However their car breaks and they are forced to hijack another car to visit a Hopper's friend that speaks Russian. The group of teenagers head to the hospital to visit Mrs. Driscoll and they have a dreadful surprise.

"Chapter Five: The Flayed" is a great sequel of "Stranger Things" basically divided in three segments: Steve, robin, Dustin and Erica at the Russian base; the journey of Hopper and Joyce with the Russian scientist; and the visit of the teenagers to Mrs. Driscoll. All of them exciting, funny and suspenseful adventures. My vote is eight.

Season started slow but going great now
mulderthomas30 July 2019
Yes some things might be a little over the top, but c'mon guys it's a TV show, it doesn't all have to be realistic because that would be pretty boring to watch. They have to keep it intresting and I definitely think they are doing a good job!

Season 3 just keeps getting better and better.
Zhukov945 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Another great episode. The Season is progressing extremely well after the initial first two episodes.

This episode was really enjoyable. However, I did at times find myself watching with a suspension of disbelief as there were a couple of ridiculous scenarios. These being Jonathan's quick recovery after being beaten down and most ridiculous of all, four children/teens easily penetrating a secret base belonging to the most paranoid and secretive government of all time.

Run!
petereviews7 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The Good: The opening sequence was highly entertaining and exciting to watch Hopper take on the Russian. We got introduced to a new character (Alexei) who brought some excellent comic relief this episode and was impressively well-defined. It was good to see Murray again, and his appearance this season was logical and entertaining.

Nancy and Jonathan's fight with the Mind Flayer was very suspenseful and there was genuine tension of who was going to die....

The Bad: ... that being said, that both of them managed to make it through unscathed shows a worrisome pattern from this show of main characters having plot armor. The show needs real stakes and consequences, particularly as Jonathan should not have survived (the amount of abuse he got from the monster was ridiculous).

The Steve and friends plotline is starting to get too over-the-top even for this show. In particular, Steve and Robin are starting to act like caricatures, and whenever the show went to them this episode it felt like I was watching a cartoon.

Episode Highlight: Alexei, Joyce, and Hopper at the 7/11.

Conclusion: This episode still had some very strong elements, but some cracks are starting to show. Hopefully the show can bounce back and pull through for the next three episodes.

Disappointed more than anything
yoonjinho5 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1 was great and Season 2 was serviceable. But with this new episode, I can't stand it anymore. This new season is going off the rails.

The first three episodes were not good (seems many people agree) with the lack of a coherent plot structure, focus on romance rather than mystery, and ridiculous coincidences.

My suspension of disbelief was high, I really wished this season wouldn't fall to the same flaws as Season 2 did: making a large-scale mystery/thriller. Season 1 was great in that it was rather self-contained, the mystery was simple yet intriguing.

When did Stranger Things become about Donald Trump and workplace misogyny? Doesn't Hopper have rules to follow as a cop? What kind of hospital doesn't have authentication on visitors? Do Russians not have surveillance or just basic human eyes to see the children sneaking into the comms room?

Stranger Things Season 1 was great because, while packaged in a nostalgic teen-drama, it was grounded with looming griddy mystery/horror. Now, Season 3 is all lights and no substance.

The monster at the end was cool, that was it.

Not even going to bring up the stupid Terminator Russian.

Too Much.....Ya Think
Hitchcoc8 July 2019
I have to agree that just about everything in this episode goes beyond the abilities of the characters. The boys manage things they shouldn't be able to do. Hopper is a joke now. The Russian facility should be impenetrable. Lots of gore. Why isn't there anyone at the hospitable except for the dimwitted nurse? It's going to be interesting to see how this gets solved.

A new monster
ninjaboyballer6 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 5 of Stranger Things is once again a great episode. With the hospital scenes being a highlight of the episode as well as the Terminator looking guy Grigori hunting Joyce and Hopper after they kidnap a Russian scientist named Alexi. This episode has a lot of small moments to like Mike and Eleven sharing m&m's and Nancy and Jonathan's elevator scene. It's little scenes like this that I love about this show. The scenes with Murray are also really great, which he is probably one of my favorite characters of the show. Dustin and his band also find the Russians trying to open the upside down again, which is not surprising but still adds tension to the story. Overall, this episode was another great episode of Stranger Thigns 3, which keeps getting better.

Final rating: 9.3/10

Warning: Spoilers
This season so far is WAY better for me than the first 2 seasons. I wasn't really a HUGE Stranger Things fan before, but this season?Oh man. It's so good. Last episode was awesome aswell.

The only thing that bugs me in this season so far is that they keep giving characters specific abilities just to serve the plot. Like this weird journalist from season 2 can now speak russian so we have someone that can translate. And there are many other occations like this in this season. But I can ignore that if they keep this awesome action and brilliant cinematograohy going.
