Dark Sky Films is proud to announce the release of Laced a modern thriller/drama in the vein of Hitchcockian classics like Dial M for Murder and Rear Window, out now on VOD & Digital Platforms including Amazon Prime Video. Set in a single location, the piece explores the claustrophobic nature of young love strung with toxicity and lies, and the cyclical nature of violence.
Official Film Synopsis:
In a remote cabin on the evening of a record-breaking blizzard, a young woman plots to poison her abusive husband in order to end their toxic relationship once and for all. When the poison fails to kill him, she not only has to quickly concoct a backup plan, but also contend with her husband’s increasing suspicion that his intensifying illness isn’t wholly accidental. And with the unexpected arrival of her brother, her carefully crafted scheme threatens to spiral ever further out of control.

Returning to the big screen together, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody play the leads in an action thriller River Wild.
The first trailer for the upcoming film River Wild, in which the long-standing couple, who have been married since 2014, feature, is currently available. Adam and Leighton previously collaborated on the films The Oranges in 2011 and Life Partners in 2014.
Beginning in August 2023, Ben Ketai’s brand-new thriller with a PG-13 rating will make its SVOD premiere on Netflix. To escape their daily lives and see nature, the Hartman family takes a little vacation. To adventure in a canoe along a river remote from civilization, they travel to the highlands for this reason.
They had no idea that their tour guides were a gang of thieves rather than tour agencies or locals who specialize in guided tours. Their trip will abruptly become a nightmare as they struggle to escape their kidnappers and the river’s perils.

Brad Garrett spent years portraying Robert Barone, the less favored Barone brother on Everybody Loves Raymond. The sitcom was Garrett’s breakout role. When the series ended, he wanted something to remember his time on the set. As the series came to a close, Garrett attempted to steal a prop from the set, he was caught in the act, but the crew handed over the memento to him anyway.

Almost exactly one year ago today, we heard that real-life couple Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, along with Taran Killam (Meester’s co-star in the TV series Single Parents) would be starring in a reimagining of the 1991 thriller The River Wild, which starred Meryl Streep, David Straithairn, and Joseph Mazzello as a family that had the bad luck of crossing paths with criminals played by Kevin Bacon and John C. Reilly while on a river rafting trip. Now Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that they’ll be giving the reimagining, which drops the definite article and is simply called River Wild, a digital, Blu-ray, and DVD release on August 1st – and along with this announcement comes the unveiling of a trailer, which you can watch in the embed above!

Meester was part of the main cast of Gossip Girl. Her and Brody’s shows were popular at the time, and fans had their favorites. Someone asked Brody if he thought one was better than the other.

Adam Brody will star opposite Kristen Bell in an upcoming comedy series for Netflix, Variety has learned.
The untitled series was ordered at the streamer back in March. It centers “on the unlikely relationship between the outspoken, agnostic Joanne (Bell) and unconventional rabbi Noah (Brody).”
The character Noah is further described as “a charming rabbi who is stuck in his ways and used to playing things safe. He starts to stumble when he meets a brutally honest and provocative Joanne, totally upending his safe life plan.”
Brody is best known for his role in the hit Fox drama series “The O.C.,” while his other TV credits include “Fleishman Is in Trouble,” “Mrs. America,” “StartUp,” and “Single Parents.” He has also appeared in films such as “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Jennifer’s Body,” “Sleeping with Other People,” and “Promising Young Woman.”

Last year, Gossip Girl fans were buzzing about Leighton Meester’s appearances in How I Met Your Father on Hulu. The season 1 finale left the door wide open for Meester to return, but will she come back in season 2? Here’s what we know.
[Spoiler alert: The following story contains spoilers for How I Met Your Father Season 1 and the premiere of season 2.]
Leighton Meester as Meredith in ‘How I Met Your Father’ Season 1 | Patrick Wymore/Hulu Who does Leighton Meester play on ‘How I Met Your Father’?
Meester appeared in a handful of episodes last season as Meredith, Jesse’s (Chris Lowell) ex-girlfriend and former bandmate. At the start of the season, Jesse was still heartbroken over Meredith rejecting his marriage proposal. To add insult to injury, the rejection went viral on social media, turning Jesse into a laughing stock as people called him a loser.

The Parks and Recreation community has lost one of its own as star Helen Slayton-Hughes has died. The actress who memorably portrayed Ethel Beavers was 92 years old. Slayton-Hughes’ death was reported on December 8 by her family on her Facebook page in a message to fans. “To the friends and fans of our beloved Helen,” the statement began. “Helen passed away last night. Her pain has ended but her fierce spirit lives on. Thank you for the love and support of her and her work. Rest sweet one.” Helen Slayton-Hughes in October 2022 (Credit: Jerod Harris/Getty Images for Netflix) No cause of death was revealed at this time, but a video memorializing Slayton-Hughes and her career was shared. Exclusive: Fox is developing a comedy called Remix from Sam Laybourne (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) and Mnelik Belilgne (Killing It).
The script from Fox Entertainment Studios follows a progressive, podcast-loving millennial who tries to modernize his father’s old school funk recording studio in an effort to save the family business and bond with his outdated, opinionated music producer dad. The only problem with this hopeful, optimistic vision is that Dad thinks it sounds like touchy-feely garbage.
Laybourne was most recently the executive producer of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist for NBC as well as Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas for Roku. Last season he shot and executive produced his pilot Hug Machine at CBS with Party Over Here producing and Jorma Taccone directing. He is currently developing the pilot Country Eastern with Vir Das for Fox with Party Over Here producing.
Laybourne is represented by UTA, Kaplan/Perrone and Myman Greenspan.

MGM’s Orion Pictures has acquired worldwide distribution rights to Emmy-winning writer Cord Jefferson’s untitled feature directorial debut, starring Emmy winner Jeffrey Wright.
Produced by MRC and Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman’s T-Street Productions, the film is based on the novel “Erasure” by Percival Everett. Jefferson also adapted the screenplay.
“As longtime fans of Cord, we are thrilled to be a part of his feature film debut and for the opportunity to share his vision with global audiences,” said Alana Mayo, president of Orion Pictures, in a statement announcing the acquisition. “His adaptation of Everett’s biting novel and Jeffrey’s brilliant take on the character, along with this incredibly talented cast, create a wonderful alchemy to tell this story.”
Wright stars in the film as Thelonious “Monk” Ellison, an English professor and author who writes a satirical novel under a pseudonym, aiming to lay bare the hypocrisies of the publishing world.

Fleishman Is In Trouble author Taffy Brodesser-Akner says one of the biggest challenges in adapting her book for the FX on Hulu limited series was learning to write dialogue rather than lengthy paragraphs. In the early years of the 20th century, a long-running newspaper comic strip followed the adventures of Little Nemo in Slumberland: Each strip recounted a dream that begins with grandeur but quickly grows strange, until our boy hero awakens abruptly, realizing he shouldn’t have eaten so much right before bedtime. Each installment was a full page, playfully composed and dazzlingly colored, that cartoonist Winsor McCay filled with imagination and charm. It was a masterpiece. (And excellent reprints, though expensive, aren’t hard to find.)
Francis Lawrence’s Slumberland borrows its title and hero’s name from this strip (though this Nemo’s a girl, and older than her namesake), as well as the idea of traveling through dreams that get dangerous. For one of the film’s posters, Netflix goes further, taking visual themes and typography from the comic, bolstering early...

Exclusive: Jake Choi (Single Parents) has signed on to star alongside Lil Rel Howery, Yvonne Orji, John Cena and Meredith Hagner in 20th Century Studios’ Vacation Friends sequel Honeymoon Friends for Hulu.
In the original film released to the streamer in August of 2021, an uptight couple (Howery and Orji) makes friends with a rowdy couple (Cena and Hagner) while on vacation in Mexico, but their friendship takes an awkward turn when they get back home.
Clay Tarver directed the buddy comedy from his script co-written by Tom Mullen, Tim Mullen, Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, seeing it score Hulu’s biggest opening weekend for an original title, though the Predator franchise prequel Prey has since trumped it. Todd Garner and Timothy M. Bourne produced, with Steve Pink and Sean Robins exec producing.

Fox’s exec shuffle continues.
Mere days after Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier shocked the network with his decision to move to Roku, the broadcast network’s comedy division is getting new leadership.
Cheryl Dolins has been named senior vp comedy programming and development at Fox Entertainment, replacing Julia Franz in the role. Franz was at the end of her contract and opted to pursue new opportunities after three years in the role.
