Really bad movie, boring, bad acting. Plot is stupid.

Boring, terrible acting

This movie made me waste an hour and thirty-minutes of my life. It could get quite boring at times. The acting is mediocre. You know it's sad when the youngest actor is the best one. Plot could get quite confusing sometimes and characters are forgettable. There are better Halloween movies out there. Don't waste your time on this one.
Family friendly

Sweet, fun, and light-hearted film option for families with pre-tweens, tweens, and young teens, who will adore the young leads. Film is set in Miami and the dialogue is a mix of Spanish and English. My favorite characters were the Abuela (grandmother), Santo and Willy. I wish they had more screen time!
A decent Halloween movie for the entire family!

I walked into this movie with no expectations but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Sure the movie had all the cliche' must-haves - over-the-top but cool grandma, over-the-top bad guy, comic relief bad guy, supportive parents, sometimes annoying and smart-ass younger sibling, teenage angst. But the movie put all these characters together and blended it into a plot that had a decent plotline, moral values and in the end, a "somewhat" happy ending.
A mildly irritating experience during the viewing was the lack of subtitles during scenes with full Spanish conversation. But I have been informed that this was a technical glitch and that the actual movie production version had subtitles.
So if you are looking for a movie that can scare you like IT, Amityville Horror or The Nun, this movie is not it. If you are looking for a family feel-good movie in the caliber of Parenthood, this movie is not it either. While it does not offer anything new with the plotline or special effects, it does reaffirm that we are all just trying to connect with places, things, and people - even if we find that the person we truly connect with turns out to be dead. But hey, it's always something, right?
