Can It Get Any More Hilarious
Hitchcoc16 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is making its way into my top ten ever. There are so many hilarious moments here. First of all, there is her relationship with her new doctor. The byplay is clever and spot on. There is tension and love and there is her needing to stay focused on her career. Her two minutes with the eccentric artist is so poignant. Then we have the Yom Kippur dinner. Tony Shaloub again is wonderful as he tries to avoid blame in Midge's announcement. When Susie shows up and is recognized as a plumber (from the Catskills) I almost died. And, of course, Midge's announcement that she is embarking on a career as a stand-up comic is met with the kinds of inanity that I've not seen before. The families don't get it. They also aren't listening and her father in law want her to tell a joke, to show that she is funny. He has no idea what her humor is all about. Anyway, it is priceless. To me, far and away the best so far. I am so sad that this is almost at the end of the season.

The Deal And The Art
kinsmed-11 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It feels like both seasons have led up to this moment. In one plot, Midge, agonizingly slowly, reveals over Yom Kippur dinner to both family and in-laws that she is pursuing a comedy career. It is proven in the absence of seeing her crucial big break. In a sub-plot, Midge's relationship with 'a handsome young doctor' warms, yet still seems at arm's length. It leads to helping him make an art deal with an eccentric artist. In another sub-plot, agent Susie approaches her feisty family to get help financing a tour.
