The film won an award at the Edinburgh Festival of 1957 and then became lost. In the 1970'es BBC Radio Brighton traced the negative and new prints were made with financial help from ITT Creed and Brighton Public Libraries. As of 2017 the film is included in BFI National Archive and made publicly available on YouTube.
The movie quotes from the obituary of lieutenant-colonel John Eld in Handbook to Brighton from year 1855. An actual copy of the antique book is also appearing in one of the early scenes.
