We finally have an idea of just how big of a hit “Severance” was for Apple TV+. Since Season 2 premiered in February, the dystopian thriller saw 6.4 billion streaming minutes, according to data from Nielsen.
Because of the way Nielsen calculates its data, this number includes viewership from both Season 1 and Season 2. It also accounted for viewership from the week of Jan. 13 to the week of March 17. The Season 2 finale set a new weekly high for the series, coming in at 876 million minutes during the week of March 17–23. That marks a 29% viewership increase compared to the season’s preview high. “Severance” also pushed out Netflix’s “Temptation Island” when it came to the highest concentration of viewers aged 18–49, the most coveted demographic when it comes to television ratings. Netflix’s groundbreaking limited series hit “Adolescence” has skyrocked to the top of the Nielsen charts. Per the ratings giant, the series scored 1.44 billion minutes during the week of March 17 to March 23 — its first full week of availability. That was up 59% vs the previous week, when it debuted at No. 9. Nielsen pointed out that the show particularly overindexed with adults 35-64 (56%) and Hispanic viewers (26%).
On the film side, “Wicked” is a wicked hit on streaming. The blockbuster film, which dropped March 21 on Peacock, landed on Nielsen’s ranker of the top 10 streaming programs for the week ending March 23 — clocking 905 million minutes viewed even though it was only available for three days that week. “Wicked” did well with both kids 2-11 and adults 18-49, per Nielsen.
That performance was good enough to make “Wicked” the No. 2 movie of the week, behind juggernaut “Moana 2,” which clocked 1.13 billion minutes for the week — good enough for No.

Out of all the beloved characters to grace our screens in the past few decades, Bluey is one of the most celebrated. Apart from entities like Mickey Mouse or Winnie the Pooh, very few characters have had such a universal appeal.
So it should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that the whole Heeler family eventually made the jump to the theme park industry, long before Disney made their recent deal. Doctors have been the object of fascination, comfort and entertainment on television since the start of the medium. But the medical genre holds the crown for this TV season’s buzziest genre, with a variety of new series debuting across linear and streaming platforms and capturing attention in a crowded space.
Seven new doctor shows have debuted since September. Broadcast networks tend to have as many as two medical series airing concurrently, but this year saw streamers Max and Netflix jump into the fray with their first forays into the genre, as they shift to making originals with longevity potential at a lower price point.
It’s a genre that’s been a reliable kingmaker since the days of “St. Elsewhere” and “ER,” and proves to be the closest thing to a sure bet for audience engagement in 2025 — regardless of where it premieres.

Streaming services haven't only facilitated the release of movies and TV shows at the same time across the world but also gave viewers a chance to rewatch or discover old titles, as well. Now, one of the longest-running TV series of all time is getting its chance.
Gunsmoke, which was the second Western television series for adults, is now finding success online. The series debuted in 1955, just four days after the first Western TV series, The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp. Per Matthew Belloni, Gunsmoke just entered the Nielsen charts for acquired shows on a list filled with current shows, 50 years after its series finale.

I love it when a horror movie surprises me. There’s something intoxicating about a horror film that subverts expectations and goes to unexpected places. When filmmakers defy convention, their output becomes exponentially more immersive, making the viewing experience much more dynamic for the audience. Netflix just added a movie like that. A film that really caught me off guard and grabbed me by the throat. I’m talking about Michael and Danny Philippou’s breakout hit, Talk to Me.
The streamer just added the film to their catalog on March 28, 2025, and it’s already cracked the top ten, landing at #5 overall. It’s also currently the most-watched horror film on Netflix.
Danny and Michael Philippou came to prominence with their YouTube channel RackaRacka. The twin brothers gained notoriety and built their follower count by posting catchy, funny horror shorts. The success of their channel paved the way for their...

From Clifford the Big Red Dog to the somewhat controversial Paw Patrol, children's cartoons about anthropomorphic dogs spreading messages of kindness, teamwork, courage, and friendship have been around for decades. Something about a sweet multicolored pup with a childlike cadence on a TV screen just hits differently for a kid. Currently, the most popular face of this kids' show subgenre is that of a blue heeler puppy from the Land Down Under.

The big first-night audience for Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special carried over to streaming the week after — giving the show its first-ever appearance on the Nielsen streaming charts.
SNL, which streams on Peacock, notched 863 million minutes of viewing in the United States for the week of Feb. 17-23. That was good for seventh place overall and third among library series. The show has an absurdly large library — 1,109 episodes spanning half a century — but Nielsen notes that 68 percent of viewing for the week was for episodes from the current season, including the anniversary special.
Netflix’s Zero Day and Prime Video’s Reacher finished first and second overall for the week after premiering on Feb. 20. Zero Day held a slight lead with 1.84 billion minutes of viewing to 1.81 billion for Reacher. Love Is Blind (1.42 billion minutes), Bluey (1.05 billion) and Family Guy (1.01 billion) also scored more than a billion viewing mintues.

Tubi, the free ad-supported streamer owned by Fox, continues to grow in popularity, as evidenced by data about Super Bowl viewership published in Nielsen’s monthly Gauge report.
Nielsen says that the Super Bowl, which aired on Fox this year, led Feb. 9 to become the second-most watched day of television since the measurement began aggregating monthly viewing reports in March of 2021 with more than 110 billion minutes watched. That stat is unsurprising, as this year’s big game was already reported as the most-watched in history with 127.7 million viewers.
But the most interesting data point about Super Bowl viewership was about streaming: Of those that streamed the game rather than watching on broadcast, one-third tuned in via Tubi. Tubi also attracted a different demographic than other platforms, with viewers skewing slightly female and being 38% more likely to fall within ages 18-34 than the game’s overall audience. Super Bowl Sunday was the second most-watched day of TV in the history of Nielsen’s monthly Gauge reports, exceeding 110 billion viewing minutes, Neilsen revealed Tuesday.
That milestone is thanks in large part to the 127.7 million viewers who watched the big game via Fox, and the simulcast on free ad-supported platform Tubi that accounted for a third of streaming usage.
Viewers that watched Tubi during the Super Bowl were 38% more likely to be in the 18 to 34 age range than the total game average and also skewed slightly female. Tubi’s February usage was up 17% over January to finish with 2% of total TV watch-time, its largest share since July 2024.
Overall, TV viewing on Feb. 9 trailed the all time leader, Super Bowl Sunday 2024, by just 500 million minutes.
Despite Tubi’s gains, YouTube still reigned supreme with the largest share of TV viewing for the month at 11.6%, a 2.5% increase versus the previous month.

TV episodes have the same names all the time, not least due to their sheer volume in existence and common phrases that repeat (Season 1’s “Hide and Seek” shares its title with episodes from “Adventure Time” and “Bluey”) — but something as integral to sci-fi television as “The Twilight Zone” merits further exploration.
“The Twilight Zone” Season 1, Episode 34 stars Anne Francis as Marsha White, a woman searching a department store for a gold thimble when she starts to experience eerie things on its ninth floor. The entire area is deserted and empty of merchandise, except for exactly what she needs. The woman who helps her turns out to be be a mannequin.

Blueyhas been one of the most surprising successes in recent years. Initially designed for younger viewers, this animated show features a preschool concept, teaching audiences about family, friendship and growing up. However, because of its unique humor, emotionally compelling scripts and fun animation style, audiences of all ages have quickly fallen in love with the show.
Bluey has come to represent an innocent and wholesome storytelling style, offering a much-needed break from the harsh TV shows that populate streaming services today. Bluey's fandom has grown steadily throughout each season, and critics and fans now consider it one of the world's largest children's intellectual properties, dominating platforms like Disney+ worldwide. Bluey's international availability encourages a more diverse range of viewers and prompts more interest in a follow-up season.

Netflix dominated the Nielsen streaming charts from February 10 to February 16 with Sweet Magnolias leading the pack.
Coming in at No. 1 on the overall list, Sweet Magnolias racked up nearly 1.2B minutes viewed in the first full week following the release of Season 4. Cobra Kai came in a close second, also with almost 1.2B minutes viewed on the heels of the final episodes.
Love Is Blind also managed more than 1B minutes viewed, and The Night Agent came in just below that threshold with 952M minutes viewed. Bluey was the only non-Netflix title to crack the Top 5.
Apple TV+ boasted its fifth consecutive week on the streaming originals chart with Severance making it to fifth place, reaching a new weekly high of 681M minutes viewed. Netflix’s Love Is Blind came out of the gate strong with the Valentine’s Day premiere of its eighth season.
The dating show accumulated 1.07 billion viewing minutes in the United States for the week of Feb. 10-16, according to Nielsen. That’s better than the premiere week totals for the past two cycles: Season six had 907 million minutes in the same week a year ago, and season seven opened to 1.05 billion minutes in early October.
Nielsen counts viewing of all episodes toward a show’s weekly tally, but the ratings service notes that 95 percent — our about 1.02 billion minutes — of Love Is Blind’s total was for the new batch of episodes that premiered Feb. 14.
Sweet Magnolias (1.16 billion minutes), which finished second overall a week earlier, moved into the top spot for Feb. 10-16 with a nine percent increase in viewing week to week. The final episodes of Cobra Kai...

One of Disney's original cartoon characters is getting his own show from a notable Marvel/Star Wars creator!
Disney+ is home to scores of shows and movies based on Disney's wide range of animated characters. From classic ones to new ones like Bluey, Disney+ is on the lookout for more properties. Now, per Deadline, Disney is planning a new series based on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It's described as a live-action/animation hybrid which is an interesting direction.
The show will be headlined by Jon Favreau, a name many will know. The writer/director/actor basically kick-started the MCU with 2008's Iron Man, which he directed and played Happy Hogan.
Favreau then began Disney+'s Star Wars series as producer/writer on The Mandalorian and built that entire division up well. He also directed the live-action versions of The Jungle Book and The Lion King so he knows how to mix animation and live-action well.

By little exaggeration, Bluey is one of the most successful TV shows currently streaming. Both kids and adults have fallen under this cheeky dog's spell, and it might not stop with season four.
As Disney forms a new partnership with Ludo Studios and Bluey creator Joe Brumm develops a cinematic script. Many of us can't help but wonder what comes next. After doing some serious rewatching, the answer might be lying in plain sight.
Make room for Mum and Dad
It's previously been speculated that after the completion of the Bluey movie in 2027, Brumm might shift his focus towards another project, possibly even an adult animation. However, that doesn't mean he's 100% done with Bluey.
The show has often been called a show about parenting that kids can watch too, so why not go all the way with that idea? Make a show about the parents! Given the creator's experience with both audiences,...

As Disney+ looks to continue to drive engagement among its subscribers, Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden teased that the platform is working on interactivity features aimed at boosting engagement with kids.
“Looking holistically at that kids audience, we know we have the stories that they love. We’re working on the technology that will allow them to engage with them in the way they want,” Walden told an investor conference hosted by Morgan Stanley on Tuesday, though she declined to elaborate further.
In September, Disney+ notably launched Streams, a group of themed, live channels that offer programming 24/7. Its ABC News and kids-focused Disney+ Playtime channels have driven over 10 million streaming hours from subscribers in the U.S. and showed “early signs of overall engagement lift” amongst subscribers who watched them, the company previously revealed.

Disney has made a decision about long-form animation for Disney+, and it’s a bold move for the company!
For decades, Disney has always been the dominant force in feature animation. Even with challengers like Don Bluth, DreamWorks, and others, Disney and Pixar would be tops at the box office and win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
But the last few years have been rough for the company. Sure, the pandemic meant Pixar films like Soul and Turning Red had to be sent to Disney+. But there’s also the bombs of Strange New Worlds and Wish.
Inside Out 2 was a big hit, yet Disney seems to be resting more on sequels than on original fare. Now, a big move has occurred, with Disney announcing that it is canceling plans for a Tiana animated series that was to come to Disney+.

It ain’t easy being green, and it ain’t easy spending so much green either.
Disney has axed a series meant for Disney+ called “Tiana” spun off from its 2009 animated film “The Princess and the Frog,” one that would have featured the return of the original film’s voice actress Anika Noni Rose, IndieWire has confirmed. The series was announced back in 2020, has been in development since, and has gone through several different creative teams, but the production costs to make it work were too great to continue, a source told IndieWire. THR first confirmed the news about the series being shelved.
The loss of “Tiana” is not indicative of just one project; it’s part of a larger change of thinking at Disney around long-form animated content intended for streaming. In addition to “Tiana,” an untitled, unannounced, animated feature film meant for Disney+ is also being shelved.

Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially pulled the plug on its Tiana princess series as it abandons making original longform content for streaming, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
A spokesperson confirmed there will be some layoffs in its Vancouver studio as a result of this shift in business strategy. In addition to the Tiana series, the studio is also scrapping an unannounced feature-length project that was set to go straight to Disney+.
Tiana was first announced in December 2020, and was envisioned as a musical featuring Anika Noni Rose reprising her role as Tiana from the 2009 film The Princess and the Frog, the film centering on Disney’s first Black princess.
Sources close to the streaming series say that despite best efforts, including several changes to the creative team, Tiana ultimately could not get to where it needed to be given production costs.
Still, The Princess and the Frog remains a key property for the company,...

Netflix’s hit series The Night Agent remains at the top of the Nielsen streaming charts for the second week in a row. The show had 2.92 billion minutes of viewing from January 27 to February 2, 2025. This is only a small drop of 6% from its debut week.

Disney Branded Television has ordered a fifth season of Disney Jr. and Marvel’s preschool megahit Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends. The news comes on the heels of the series recently moving ahead of both Paw Patrol and Cocomelon to become the No. 2 streaming series for Kids and Boys 2-5 during the last quarter of 2024, second only to Bluey.

Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends has been renewed for a fifth season by Disney Branded Television. This announcement comes as the show’s third season is airing on Disney Jr., with Season 4 set to premiere this summer.
The show has become a big hit with kids. In late 2024, it was the second-most-watched streaming show for children ages 2-5, even beating out popular shows like ‘Paw Patrol’ and ‘Cocomelon’. BBC Studios CEO Tom Fussell and Zai Bennett, CEO and chief creative officer of BBC Studios Productions, are confident and focused on long-term success amid the current financing challenges of the post-peak TV era.
BBC Studios, the commercial arm of British broadcaster BBC, highlighted record investment into content in its most recent fiscal year. “We’re carrying on investing,” Fussell tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Why? Because we’ve got this long-term mandate. We can take creative investments for the long term. It’s fantastic that Zai has joined us, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with him.”
Bluey is among the big hits for BBC Studios that feels like a gift that keeps on giving. “Bluey is the most watched show in the U.S. of all shows period,” Fussell emphasizes.
Since it’s Oscars week, he is also happy to highlight a fact that has often gone overlooked this awards season.

“Suits” is off to a slow start as it returns to television. “Suits LA,” NBC’s new spinoff of the hit USA Network series, debuted with 2.6 million viewers on Sunday night.
Out of four new drama series on the network’s lineup this season, the premiere viewership of “Suits LA” ranked in third, per Live + Same Day data from Nielsen: “Brilliant Minds” came to NBC with 3.9 million viewers on Monday, Sept. 23 while “The Hunting Party” premiered on Sunday, Jan. 19 with 3.1 million viewers. Only “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” lagged behind, debuting with 1.8 million viewers at 10 p.m. on Sunday, directly after “Suits LA.”
“Suits LA” was only able to retain 50% of the audience that tuned into NBC in the timeslot directly before its 9 p.m. bow, as the Tom Hanks-narrated nature documentary “The Americas” averaged 5.2 million viewers in the second block of its premiere, up from 4.7 million during its first hour.

The bundle first launched in summer 2024, and has proved highly successful in keeping its inititial wave of subscribers.
Attracting new subscribers is obviously important for every streaming service, but it’s only half the battle. The other half is keeping those viewers engaged. It’s always more expensive to bring new customers to a streamer than it is to keep existing ones, and studies have shown that the longer a person stays with a streaming service, the less likely they are to cancel in the future. That’s why executives at Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery are likely overjoyed by data shared by The Wall Street Journal this week that shows the Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle is quite effective at preventing subscribers from canceling.
Key Details: WSJ cites data that shows that the bundle has an early retention rate of around 80%. That figure bests even Netflix, which retained 74% of...

BBC Studios is prepared to plough resource into its scripted and entertainment offerings as CEO Tom Fussell stresses the group’s “long-term mandate” amid global market contraction.
Fussell was joined by his new productions boss Zai Bennett at yesterday’s BBC Studios Showcase and the pair gave Deadline an insight into short, medium and long-term thinking.
For Bennett, who joined from Sky late last year, “maintaining our creative momentum” by investing in scripted and entertainment is the first priority.
“In scripted we are looking at whether there are investments we want to make in individuals or whether there are labels that have all the resources they need,” said Bennett. “How can we help them? They have brilliant relationships and I need to make sure the people running those labels have the environment and resources they need to back that up.”

By little exaggeration, Bluey has one of the biggest fanbases in our current culture. So much so that even the grownups in the audience are quickly surpassing the series' intended audience of young viewers.
We could spend all day talking about why fans love the show, but something has changed in the past season, and we might see a repeat of this phenomenon as season four peers its head around the corner. Bluey might be the name on the marquee, but her sister might be stealing the show out from under her.
This episode of Bluey is called "Bingo!"
Bluey still has a big role to play in the show; it's still hers, after all. However, vigilant viewers will notice that more and more episodes are featuring her with more of a supporting role than the primary fixture. In fact, out of the 50 episodes in the show's third season, only...

The success of The Night Agent is apparently not a one-season phenomenon.
The Netflix thriller recorded its biggest week to date with the opening of its second season. The show amassed 3.11 billion minutes of viewing for the week of Jan. 20-26 (season two premiered Jan. 23), according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings, topping its previous best of 3.06 billion minutes in March 2023.
Nielsen says viewing of season two accounted for 76 percent of the weekly total, which works out to about 2.36 billion minutes.
After making its debut on the streaming charts a week earlier, Apple TV+’s Severance improved a little on that performance with 622 million minutes of viewing (a gain of about 6 percent week to week). That’s the highest weekly total for any Apple TV+ show since Ted Lasso in 2023.

Total TV viewing climbed 5% month-over-month in January, boosted by NFL and NCAA football, scripted dramas and news programming, according to Nielsen’s latest Gauge report.
The NFL’s AFC Championship game on Jan. 26 on CBS drew the largest audience for the month of 57.4 million viewers, followed by Fox’s NFC Championship game the same day, which brought in 44.2 million viewers.
Coverage of the college football playoffs on ESPN, as well as other various bowl games, drove a 42% bump in cable sports viewing in January. Bluey is an absolute pop culture phenomenon, and that's the understatement of the century. There's practically no parent, kid, or Disney+ subscriber who doesn't know the Heeler clan, and a full-length movie will happen one way or another.
As excited as we all are to see Bluey, Bingo, and all the rest leap up onto the big screen, Disney and Ludo have kept the cards close to their chest. That said, we do know a few things about the upcoming film, and fans are in for something new and something blue on the horizon.
If not now, when?
Ever since the announcement was made last December, fans have been on pins and needles about Bluey's future. Viewers have been kept on an information diet for months, but that doesn't mean the production hasn't let a few things slip.
Here's what we know thus far in The Bluey Movie's journey:...

Grey’s Anatomy might be the longest-running scripted series on ABC’s primetime line-up, but the beloved medical drama doesn’t seem to be in danger of going anywhere anytime soon.
While the show’s linear ratings have slipped this season with the show’s move to the 10 p.m. closing spot, Grey’s Anatomy remains one of the most successful shows not just broadcast, but of all shows. In fact, the show finished 2024 as the second-most popular streaming show of 2024 behind only Bluey. Still, despite the show’s continued success, it’s natural for fans to worry about whether its time on air could be nearing an end.
The good news is that there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight for Grey’s Anatomy and the show most certainly will not be ending with its current 21st season!
“People always ask, ‘Do you think about this in terms of how long something will run?...
