You come at the King, you best not miss.

Fantastic episode, straight drama. The look on Kendalls face after the vote, before he exits the boardroom... Brian Cox, just kills it, he embodies this role.

Every facet of production was as good as it gets. Writing, camera, music, all of it excellent, and the acting brought it home.

WOW (the downside of high risk, high reward)
rich-fouts10 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Adam Arkin directs a phenomenal episode that I watched twice. While Kendall realizes the risk, he maintains confidence that his surprise attack on his father will ultimately succeed. But, when his calculations move onto thin ice, he helicopters out to Long Island to reverse a board member's vote.

With nail-biting suspense the drama builds against the backdrop of Nick Britell's terrific sound track. When things go wrong, even Roman (who is becoming my favorite character) is speechless. This episode is a teachable moment showing that the other side of high risk, high reward just might be an irrecoverable crash. Logan's firing of half the board is fantastic.

Best episode yet
Great episode. Perfect mix of comedy but real tension and stakes. Not sure why this show isn't more popular. I know the reviews are bad, but that's surprising too.

One of the best uses of score in an episode of television ever
goldenlampshade9 March 2021
The entire episode is simply magnificent to be sure, it's just that there is a climactic moment supplemented by a superbly composed piece of music that reverberates beyond the screen and through the viewer it is so good. I have remembered this moment ever since and will likely not soon forget it. Stunning work from Jeremy Strong, Brian Cox, and the screenwriters. A masterclass in all things made for the silver screen and what solidified Succession as one of my favorite and consistently excellent shows out.

"Are we the rebels?"- Greg

Warning: Spoilers
That quote perfectly describes this episode as well as the title of the episode. In a very intense final 15 minutes that pitted Kendall's team against Logan's team, the meeting turned out to be quite unpredictable when we expected Logan's side to win. The final scene ended in heartbreak if you were rooting for Kendall, but in doubt of what's about to happen next.

Now it gets good.

Warning: Spoilers
Though it's not a surprise the vote fails, the direction and writing if this episode is stellar. Up until this episode I was still on the fence about finishing the season. The characters are all cringy and gross. At least now we start to get some depth to a few of them. The music is spot on as well as the timing. Yes, familiar tropes dictate some of the direction of the plot but it works for this episode. Now I want to continue watching. I see why this show received so many Emmy nominations. I recommend it highly for those who like New York, big business drama, Dysfunctional family Dynamics, and dry humor.

Roman Shows His Colors
Hitchcoc12 September 2022
This is such a harsh episode. Kendall is so driven to get rid of his father as head honcho, that he engages in a a coup, to drive him from power. Much of the episode is about his efforts to gain enough votes. But he makes an error when his actions keep him from the beginning of the meeting. He also realizes that he has no loyalty from several of those who promised to support him. This leads to corporate bloodletting and the firing of several significant people. The most despicable of all is Roman who pretends to hold forth agains the family, but when the chips are down turns Benedict Arnold. The last fifteen minutes are stellar television.

What an Episode

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the greatest episodes of television I've ever seen. The masterful use of music and the cutting between everyone voting and Kendall racing to make it to the vote is one of the greatest TV scenes I have ever seen.

Everything changes!
and_mikkelsen25 February 2023
Wow this was an amazing episode that really shows just how good this show can get! Finally you can feel the stakes and you know there will be consequences no matter how things pan out! The whole episode builds tension and when it comes down to it you realize you don't know what will happen and that each character has their own agenda!

The drama and acting is just solid! Brian Cox was legendary! Best performance thus far! Those finale minuttes are something I won't forget!

The show had a slow start but I am glad i sticked aroumd cause now I am FULLY invested! Very excited to see where things are going!

A real game-changer for me in a show that was failing to live up to my expectations.
bayleykedar16 November 2021
To keep this short & sweet (because I intend to write a review for each episode of Succession following this) I found this episode to be a complete game-changer.

If I had to rate the previous 5 episodes of the show, they would each lie in the ballpark of a 6/10. I hated each and every character on the show, most of them I still do, however the writing and it's overall aesthetic were enough to keep me entertained (plus, that score is to DIE for).

But this episode right here, being arguably the first real 'climax' of the show thus far, has altered my perception. It has made me realise that perhaps this show may indeed be for me.

Cox is, again, phenomenal as Logan Roy. I hate him more and more as each episode passes. The entire sequence within the boardroom, spanning from Kendall's journey across the city to its conclusion, was absolutely remarkable. Pure, unfiltered tension. This is hard to come by, especially in a show that I initially believed I didn't care for all too much. This episode exhibited a supreme level of filmmaking, never before seen, in my opinion, in the show's previous episodes.

Long may it continue. Despite still feeling alienated by such a hyper-successful, wealthy and spoilt selection of characters (seriously, what's to actually like about this family?) I intend to stick to it. I have no doubt that the payoffs will only grow in size and feel as brilliant as this one. Or so I'm hoping.

Good episode but..
cool_jojo_0078 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Okay I just recently started binge watching Succession finally. I have a quirk of checking out the episode ratings on IMDb before I watch the entire season. Naturally I was really excited for 'Which Side Are you On ?' because of the really high ratings but I was a tad disappointed.

Many people have commented on the twists and turns within the episode but what exactly were they ? There was no background to WHY all of a sudden the board members who had initially agreed to vote for no confidence abstained from voting ? What was the objective showing Kendall reaching late to the meeting ? Or is it supposed to be fate and chance that he couldn't make to the meeting in time and hence lost the votes ?

Honestly was expecting and waiting for some last minute corporate maneuver which makes it deserving for this high rating. I understand that it that it is not a melodramatic series, like may be, Suits, where a last minute heavy twist completely changes the story but still, this episode felt progressing very linearly which gave an impression of an impending twist which never actually came. During the final 20 minutes it became increasingly predictable that Kendall will lose the vote, but didn't expect it would be more of his father basically bullying the voting rules to win. The cinematography, music, acting is top notch yet the storyline wasn't that amazing as the rating made me believe so.

Some lazy writing here
sangabriel22 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
9.1 rating? Is this the best I can hope for in this series?

The fact that what happened, happened was because of some dumb situations, like Kendall getting late to the meeting, or the board letting Logan stay at the meeting influencing the vote, is just lazy writing.

This could been the 9.1 if Logan pulled out some "Francis Underwood" trick at the last second... this completely ruined the episode for me.

"This happened because the main character was stuck in traffic" is just lame... is not a romantic comedy.

The only reason I"lo keep watching, is because he very body is talking about season 2 and 3.

Yes I, know that without Kendall there, no one had enough power to take Logan out of the room (Kinda)... I also know the irony that the same terrorist thing that got Logan meeting with the President cancelled, was the same that allowed him to win the vote. No chess player, no smart tycoon... just plain luck.

[8.5] The mysterious "holes"
cjonesas10 April 2022
Episode 6: Very good drama, twists & turns, terrific acting, marvelous use of the score, just tiny amounts here and there regarding the vibe, flow and atmosphere that doesn't make it a superb episode.

All of them, up to now, suffer from the same mysterious "holes" that are felt not seen.

Electrifying ending
8512224 November 2023
Greetings from Lithuania.

Sixth episode of "Succession" named "Which Side Are You On?" was its best yet because of electrifying ending. I won't spoil it nor go into details, but the plan went sideways and I will say no more. Writing, tension, acting were superb. And while the plot is kinda going a bit in circles, I like previously mentioned qualities and they elevate this show above its premise. It is a drama but a very interesting one.

Overall, fifth episode was solid and well paced but it's the sixth one which is a highlight of this season so far. Things will change and I will keep following it.

Oh so contrived...
tripped_d1 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
(Spoilers)

A hugely important plot line is decided by a preposterous no-fly order that is miraculously timed to start within a very brief window when our protagonist is exposed. I can't possibly fathom why this inanity is rewarded by such high episode reviews. This is lazy, contrived writing and it made for a very frustrating viewing experience.

Keep turning into more of a sitcom
tubthumpin9 July 2018
I've mostly enjoyed the show up until now. But I found this episode to be fairly silly and not in a way that I enjoyed it.

Without spoiling anything, after the single most important corporate move of Kendal's life is partaken, all the worst possible obstacles stand in his way. Hijinks ensue.

I didn't really start watching the show for this.

So disappointing.
cincygirlintx23 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The vote of no confidence failed. Gosh. Shocker. WHO could've seen THAT coming??

It was a pretty exceptional show that I was impressed with, until they pulled what every other show with a similar plot has ever pulled. There's a vote to oust the person in charge, they think they have all their ducks in a row, and a coward (or someone w/an agenda) spoils the plan.

You know what would have been fantastic?! If that HADN'T happened, and the vote had gone through!! THAT would have been interesting. NOW? I'm done.

This show may speak to some that like constant petty annoying chatter and a storyline that never changes, but to me the 6 episodes that I watched is time I will never get back. Dang.

I read the reviews regarding this show's slow start. How slow is slow? It is still terribly slow and this is episode 6. If they took the F word out of the convo, the episodes would be very short.

BLAH!!!!!
