Sex & Nudity
-
- Sex is referred to or implied, but not often. The most graphic the show gets is a brief conversation where a daughter tells her mother men quickly shrink/go limp upon seeing her abdominal scar. One-piece swim-wear is worn by one character for a short time in two different episodes, but it is athletic-wear, not provocative or seductive.
Violence & Gore
-
- In a few scenes people are gunned down; bloody wounds or dead bodies are shown occasionally.
- A man is stabbed in the eye on screen once; it happens quickly, though, and is not close-up.
- A man shoots himself onscreen; just as he fires the gun the camera cuts to a shot of the blood splattered wall behind him.
Profanity
-
- Two episodes have several (appx 10 or less) uses of the F-word; the first has the most. The rest of the season has fewer uses, though, and other profanity is infrequent/uncommon.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
-
- Characters drink alcoholic beverages and/or smoke on screen, but neither is a prominent part of the series. Illegal drug use is not in the series.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
-
- Suspenseful scenes occur regularly. Skeletons in a mass grave are shown late in the series. Trauma, brutality, oppressive and violent injustice, genocide, PTSD, depression, suicide are recurring themes throughout the series; many emotionally heavy/dark scenes.
