It grows on you

Just read that ABC has canceled my new favorite mind candy. Booooooo ABC! I hope someone else picks it up. Yes, it's lame and annoying. But is lame and anything and lovable, like Pysch. Each week I found myself smiling and getting more into the running "bits." Enjoying the banter and growing fond of these caricatures (not a typo) It's fun, and I will miss it.

What a surprise
peter-c151-28821328 March 2019
CIA joins forces with the FBI and heaps of gadgets.

This is an easy watching show with some high end sets and amusing. Almost like a James Bond movie on a lower budget.

My wife and I really enjoy this and are so glad we stumbled across it.

With so much fake reality TV online, it's nice to just enjoy a TV show.

I Can't Believe They Are Cancelling This Series!
tuckerfurguy16 May 2019
When I first saw previews for this show, I was thinking it probably wouldn't work; as it seemed a bit cheesy, gimmicky and too lighthearted. I love Laura Cohan from the Walking Dead, so I looked forward to seeing what she could do outside of the WD format. I don't remember seeing Scott Foley in anything, but discovered he mixes the lighthearted with the deadly serious seamlessly. As a team, they are perfect; like Mr. and Mrs James Bond, with a humorous element. They are both very physical characters, and they pull it off with the same martial arts-type zeal of actors in any serious crime drama. They are sexy, funny, smart, and compelling. The other characters are equally as interesting; their parts well acted - and they all mesh into a very entertaining show. A show I look forward to watching every week. I notice the ratings here for the show are high overall, as well as for each episode. Why is the show being cancelled? I'm hoping another network, or perhaps Netflix will pick it up.

Entertaining An Promising
wivavog1 April 2019
A promising series about spy's and espionage with a comedic twist. Definitely alot of room for improvement but for just starting less complaints then most. The show would instantly be better if they dropped Ana ortiz. She is so out of place pn the show and only brings it down. They could cast about anyone else an it would could be drasticly more fun , dynamic and cohesive. The rest of the team seems compliment each other, def good choice of the two leads. Hope it last long enough to improve and work out the kinks.

Not just another agency show
kevin-2979329 March 2019
If you were tuning in to get another FBI or Quantico, you'll be disappointed. The show doesn't take itself that seriously. But that's ok. They don't intend to. While there is action and adventure, this show is built on the unique personalities of the characters. Scott Foley is charming, funny and believable. No stranger to action, he leans in to the better side of humanity. Lauren Cohen is the exact opposite. She thinks the worst, expects the worst and goes in hard. Unlike her role in the Walking Dead, Lauren channels the "tough as nails CIA feel-nothing Clint Eastwood" vibe. When the two interact, it creates an enjoyable tension. And there is always a little action to satisfy the adrenaline need. This show is fast becoming one of my top 3. Highly recommend you tune in.

Enjoyable fun
lastsaint26 February 2019
Not exactly the Borne Supremacy but enjoyable, put your brain in park and relax. (fyi other reviewer - the FBI does operate outside the US and the CIA does operate inside the US, its a common misconception usually held by people who think the monster was called 'Frankenstein'). Its fun, silly and more exiting in the first 5 minutes than an entire season of TWD so take it for what it is a spy romp that has no intention of being as classical as a Shakespeare play or as deep as The Americans. Think of True Lies and you'll get the idea.

Another entertaining show is cancelled
schubej-19 October 2019
I am so tired of getting attached to programs on Commercial TV that gets shelved after one season. This one was entertaining from episode one with humor, action and drama. Not sure why it was not renewed. Maybe it was just too good. Lauren Cohan, previously of The Walking Dead, and Scott Foley, previously on Scandal, had incredible chemistry, first as adversaries and later with a burgeoning attraction toward each other. The supporting cast, especially Josh Hopkins as an occasional comedic character who had more depth than originally indicated, were also excellent. Most ratings for this show were positive which makes it incredibly difficult to understand why it was cancelled. I'm sure the issue may have been tied to Commercial revenue which is ridiculous since very few people actually watch or even like them. Maybe that's why Netflix and Amazon Prime have attracted so many subscribers.

Not bad
sharonh-7791526 February 2019
It was a typical quirky show. We need a little humor with FBI/CIA shows. I think some of the negative reviews are Walking Dead fans. I am the biggest Walking Fan there is and I for one enjoyed watching 'Maggie' in another role.

Environmentally friendly...
Hei_Shibing27 February 2019
...in that it is recycled material. Typical stereotypes abound, including:

Two "hot" leads: will they or won't get together? Exciting

Fast talking black guy: entertain us, funnyman

Slow-moving villains: raises gun. Takes an eternity to fire. Hero lives to see another day

Civilians put at risk because agents lack subtlety: don't mind me, innocent diners, I'm just going to explode a window in your face

The usual tropes, which will grow old quickly. Thoroughly unoriginal

Mission Impossible Meets Leverage
necro177521 March 2019
This is like Mission Impossible and Leverage had a baby and named it Whiskey Cavalier. Seriously, this is great. No, it's technically not "original", but for those of us that loved Leverage and are fans of Mission Impossible, this is A BIG win!

Dumbest.. uh comedy? Is it supposed to be funny?
fallguy_jack26 February 2019
There's suspension of disbelief, it's an understandable requirement, but this requires suspension of brain function period. Within the first few minutes, the amount of stupid is literally stupefying. It culminates in the "hero" being distracted by someone proposing to his girlfriend, neither of whom seem to care about the guy that just got run over by a car and is bleeding out in the street five feet away.

Oh I lied, that was not the culmination of anything, the stupidity continues unabated.

Almost shut it off in the first 5 minutes.
Onetrack972 April 2019
But, then I realized what it was. Comedy spy-FBI thing. Actually, pretty good for now.

Think "Chuck" with some blood.

Mayynot quite as good yet but some good laughs.

Really wanted to like it
erinmcway28 February 2019
Love Scott Foley and liked Lauren Cohen in TWD, but the writing is just too silly. I think Moonlight and Castle dynamics were expected, but missed the target. Location shoots are nice, but will need to see some better depth to continue.

Love this light minded series
imust28 March 2019
This Cavalier is making me smile if not laughing out loud, and that's OK ! I love that some characters are funny most of the time (Edgar... :-) and others don't seem to know that they are in an action/comedy (Hello Frankie...) - it all makes for great comic relief when they are confronting each other. I've grown to like every regular character, even Ray Prince !!! Love all of you guys and the writers of this show !

Like this one
pshel521178 March 2019
So it's the same plot as 100's of other shows but I love these characters. I just wish Will Chase (yes that's his name) was more like his Scandal character. Lauren Conrad is almost too tough. But I'm going to give this a chance and see what develops.

PLEASE DON'T CANCEL! GREAT FIRST SEASON!
davebeebe4423 May 2019
This is a fun, feel good series with a cast of lovable characters that most people can relate to. Yes, many of the shows gimmicks have been used before (James Bond on skis) but that is just the type of campy spoof that makes it funny and watchable. Please give them a second season.

Fluff with two good looking people in a Rom Com spy series.
intrepidami26 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I like the first 5-10 minutes. Then it started to compound a lot of silly stuff.

We have a top notch agent who is sent on a buy sting. His partner, actually the team lead, no shows. He takes the initiative alone and almost gets killed. He saves the day EXACTLY like the Avengers did in the opening of Civil War.

When he gets back, it's literally blown off that his fellow agent no showed and almost got him killed. Utterly ridiculous! I don't care what excuse is used. My only thought is that this done to come back to later on, and sure enough it was.

Other things were seriously telegraphed.

Our secret agent Will is the most un-secret agent on the planet, and the butt of jokes for being too romantic and emotional. We're going to be oversold this!

Frankie broke about 75 international laws in 43 minutes of airtime. I'm guessing that trend will continue.

This makes the main mission of this pilot a little suspect, a NOC list being out there, if every body has more information about everybody else's spies! Even low grade mercenaries?

There's a really bad set up with a name being on a phone, and at the end the same name is on the bad guys ring. Is this amateur hour or what? To me it glares because I own a ring with writing on it and 5 people a day notice my ring! Will only notices his bosses ring at the end of this episode? Better, even mediocre dramas use a more subtle set up, of a small mistake the big bad made. Here's they trumpet it. There's tropes that fit, and tropes that don't writers.

If you solely like oil and water sexual tension, enjoy. If you want it to make sense, look elsewhere.

Don't Be So Serious
medik4157 March 2019
This was never intended to be Jason Bourne, so just relax and enjoy it for what it is: a great mix of drama, comedy and action. The acting is great, the cast meshes really well, and the writing is clever.

Had little spectations, but really like it.
caotico698 March 2019
As told I came with little spectations, but Lauren Cohan is so damn pretty and cool in this show, seeing her so much time in Th Walking Dead all dirty and no make up made me forgot how pretty she is. The chemistry with Scott Foley is great in fact the whole cast fit very good. Great international locations.

Its funny, nice action, badass. not realistic at all, but fun to watch.

sdc213-689-23686528 February 2019
How many cliches can you handle? From the very start every move every line was something you heard from some other movie or TV show all packed in to the script. Almost makes you grateful for all the commercials

The sort of senseless violence that I need..
chalomug12 March 2019
Blah blah blah it's been done before.. But really not a repeat of what you watched. It's a fast paced spy flick. Lots of senseless violence, lot's of comedy, a bit of romance, twists and turns, the works. I've seen lots of negative reviews but who cares. For me it's been thoroughly entertaining. I crashed out of lethal weapon and this looks like the sort of thing that would fill that gap.

Proposed new series title "Excessive Banter Foreplay"
Ed-Shullivan28 February 2019
Nothing special here. Just another in a very looooooooong series of attempts by TV producers to sell us suckers on their veiled young and good looking thirty somethings pretending to be adept federal FBI and CIA agents.

Although the scenery is above par (Paris France, Moscow Russia, and Hamburg Germany) the excessive banter foreplay between the FBI agent Will Chase (Scott Foley) and CIA agent Frankie Trowbridge (Lauren Cohan) is so irritating and has been done verbatim by many other failed TV series over past decades..

Most irritating is the blatant abuse of a gun shot wound and the over simplification by FBI agent Will Chase in removing a bullet with a 10 inch wide kitchen knife from the interior of the abdomen of CIA agent Frankie Trowbridge who shows no ill effect from internal bleeding and she remains conscious throughout. In fact it's ironic that CIA agent Frankie Trowbridge uses a fake tampon which is actually a James Bond tyoe of explosive device to distract the bad guy as she jumps off the table with less than a flesh wound. Wow this is one tough lady eh? LOL

But eh, it's TV crap at its finest (thus the 6 out of 10 rating when comparing it to the other crap currently on TV) and as such I did not expect anything close to realism from a male and female 30 somethings who spent most of this pilot episode exchanging excessive banter foreplay.

*** A message for the writers and producers:

If you want a 10 out of 10 rating create another series like "The Wire (2002), or "Dexter (2006). I for one am not impressed with this excessive banter foreplay as entertainment.

You saw it before you probably will see it again
agent90726 February 2019
Same old plot, same old jokes. FBI agent and CIA agent in romcom comedy, there will be blowups, talks, guns shootings, talks, more talks and in the end one big explosion where they jumping in to the screen. Is it good? Yes, it have same old robust charm. Does it new? Nope. But its good to watch with cup of tea.
