The pages surrounding Lucy in the final montage are copies of two different letters - one contained the lyrics from the opening of the Bee Movie, the other had the lyrics to 'All Star' by Smash Mouth.
During the first Instagram montage, one of the comments on the picture of Frankie is from 'dodieclarkee' calling the photo '6/10'. This was a nod to YouTuber/Musician Dodie Clarke, who released her new EP during production, featuring the track '6/10'.
There are a number of nods to real-life YouTubers throughout the film, notable the 'Friend Like Me' poster in Jake and Justin's living room - a film by Sammy Paul. Jessica's bedroom is full of real-life YouTuber merchandise including some items from Zoella's beauty range. A number of the extras in the Creators Live scene have face-whiskers - a reference to the Phandom's trademark look.
The raining letters effect was created by director Will Carne and art director Sarah Coleman, using pages of A4 paper taped onto fishing wire and strung around actress Morgan Daniels. The wires were then digitally removed in post production.
Each character in the film were assigned a colour. Jake was red, Justin was yellow, Frankie was blue, Sunny was green, Jessica was purple/pink and Lucy was multicoloured. These colours were reflected in their costumes and props, and became the tint used in their individual scenes in the finale.
