The images are awkward but the song makes everything look and sound special

The original German language version of "Major Tom" by Peter Schilling is an awesome song on its own, huge hit just like the more well-known English version. However, in the comparison between the two music videos there's are pro's and con's when it comes to presentation of images and presentation of songs. The American video is slightly better in its images compositions revolving archive images from NASA's space program along with a performance by Schilling; this one shows Schilling performing while awkward and dated animation effects appear in the background as half of Schlling's body (his face area, actually) appear during the song chorus.

On the other hand, the music plays slightly longer than in the other video and there's plenty of time to appreciate the amazing instrumentals of it with its heavy synthesizers and excellent bass lines. The English version tends to cut the intro right after the first full play. If you consider the sound more important the visuals, then this clip is the better of the two, even though it's the very same song - it just plays out differently from video to video. To me, the perfect video for it was one made some years ago (not sure if it's still available) where they used a more contemporary anime along with an extended version of the song. The animation had a space theme and it was a work of a genius, pity that it wasn't an official video. The record company should've get involved in this. 8/10.
