"Nichts zu verlieren" tells the story of two criminals who kidnapp a bus full of people mourning the loss of their beloved ones and get into serious trouble when they realize that all of those have literally nothing to lose anymore.
The movie is somehow stuck between two worlds. On the one hand, it convinces with creativity, really god acting and a touch of indie filmmaking. On the other hand it delivers elements of a classic German tv movie, including cheap humor, strange characters and your basic relationship drama + happy end. Both leads to a film that has its charm and its brilliant moments but is sabotaged by things we've all seen a hundred times before.
All in all I still appreciate the creativity of the plot and the outstanding performances of some of the actors. Sometimes a little more courage would have helped to bring out the full potential of this production.
