Hunger Island is a remote place in Portugal named that way centuries ago by the walking sellers, hawkers, because misery was so blight they would avoid contact with the poor inhabitants. Knowing they would not sell anything there, they would go around, creating an Island, not for being surrounded by water, but by avoiding passing the place.
Although the actions sets its place in Alentejo region, deep interior plains of Portugal, the film locations were in the real Hunger Island, a place in the Extremadura region.
