A horrible and pointless movie...
paul_haakonsen9 June 2019
Right, well I had never heard about this 2017 thriller prior to finding it by sheer, random luck. I took a look at the movie's cover and decided to give it a chance, as I do enjoy watching movies.

Now, I must say that this movie was sort of pointless. I mean, Jason London plays a character that wakes up in a foreign country where is he held captive by people who doesn't speak English. And to top it off, he has amnesia. But it gets better, he manages to get a cell phone off of his captors and calls 9-1-1 for help, whom redirects his call to some strange, alleged government agency that will send people to help him, provided he can identify himself as an American.

How can he when he has total amnesia? And then whole concept of him talking to a strange guy on the phone, claiming to be CIA just seemed preposterous. And the whole movie just takes place in the barn, and there are no names to the characters, and the interactions between the captors and the hostage just seem ludicrous.

Director Paul Ruven wasn't really holding on to the long end of the straw here while directing this movie, and the end result was a less than mediocre movie that really offered nothing in terms of entertainment value. You, as the audience, hardly cared for the hostage (played by Jason London), nor did you ever really submerge yourself into the story and plot because it seems so farfetched. However, the one thing that did work was the twist to the storyline towards the end, so writer Mark Gaspercic did manage to pull out a surprise there. Just a shame that it did absolutely nothing to alleviate the horrendous hour and an half of torment the rest of the movie turned out to be.

I managed to endure the entire movie. So some of us suffered and took one for the team, so you don't have to. Stay well clear of this movie, unless you are a diehard fan of Jason London for some reason.

Really a Thriller ?

If this movie is of the thriller genre totally fail, you laugh it out that you do not know what the hell is going on with this story. The only good thing about the movie is that until the end you understand what is really happening but from there on out the performances are poor the sound is bad some scenes are repeated and the only effect is that they put this badly done.

I probably will not be the only one who found out about this movie by Stefanie Joosten and I really saw the movie because I wanted to see for myself if what they say about her is true that she acts very well and unfortunately if she really wants to continue in this she has to prepare more because she leaves much to be desired and her performance is minimal, so worse. (for me they only put her in the movie because she is known for the MGSV game but nothing more)

The best performance is of a goat ....

Is this a music video?

Warning: Spoilers
So its a story about a guy who has no memories woke up in a barn, being kidnapped by some dudes. Could be interesting, right? Wait till you watch it. Anyone gets annoyed by the sound design? Seems like they had to put in some sorta track in every single scene. Some so loud that it drowns out the dialogue. Like the guy was on the phone... 5 seconds before he finishes his dialogue, some hip hop track started playing.. LOUD. It doesnt even wait till the guy finish talking. Terrible. Fire the soundtrack guy, please.

There's no phone in there!

Warning: Spoilers
Jason London, who is not Richard Smith is held hostage in Serbia and doesn't know why or what his name is. He manages to secure a phone. Half the film is Jason talking on the phone to some guy who gives us horrible dialogue and the other half is three guys roughing him up. Every bit as bad as "buried."

As boring as it sounds. Also has a dog and a goat.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

A lighthearted thriller
lisatuna22 July 2019
Not a cinema buff by any means. And yes, there are some parts of this film that are far-fetched and a bit silly. However, it's fine if only for the sake it's not taking itself seriously. Bit of a "twist" at the end. Entertaining in a super "lighthearted".
