This series comes to an end, but sadly Dark Water was a little bit disappointing, how much better would it have been to sign the series off with last week's fantastic episode 'Home.' I can't fault the action or production values, Blethyn as always superb as the Iron Lady of Northern Policing, Kenny Doughty and her great in scenes together as always. Wil Johnson, is always a pleasure to have on our screens, he was great, but sadly didn't get a huge deal of screen time. I can see by the ratings that this has been the most successful series of Vera to date, and I'm delighted to see it's back for Series 9. I hate to say it but this has been my least favourite series to date, Home, apart, I'm not sure the writing has been as sharp as it normally is, that's a testament to the quality expected. Darkwater in particular, just a bit on the boring side, the story didn't grip me, still a good watch, just the bar is so high.
The ending was good, quite gripping, it just seemed a little far fetched, the show is so successful because it's gritty and real, hopefully back on track in Series 9.
